  1. Ah, good call - my memory ain't what it was!
  2. Like others said, try the Spare a Grade sub - however, I'd also say that if you're going to spend the money to get a Jim Lee Sig Series book, I would spend a little more money and get a high grade raw "key" like a Batman 609 or something like that. This particular book has a lot of small flaws that are going to accumulate for a grade you probably don't want. And if you specifically want a Batman 619 graded, it wouldn't cost much to get a much higher grade raw copy either.
  3. Interesting comparison, and I'm curious if you knew this when you posted - but the reverse actually did happen: Noah Wyle and George Clooney showed up in a Friends episode as their characters from ER. My girlfriend (now wife) and I at the time were huge Friends and ER fans, and we loved it. But I feel like audiences today are much more cynical and stunts like that are less of a novelty. And going from a serious show to a sitcom is easier too because it's more playful. I agree with you that it could feel really strange to try to fit a sitcom character like She-Hulk into a more serious MCU movie. I absolutely loved WandaVision because of how it played with the TV genre tropes and fit that into the more serious nature of the movies and the broader narrative - I thought Wanda was one of the freshest things I've seen from a "TV show" in a long time. But what Wanda did right, it seems like She-Hulk does exactly wrong; it wants to fit a specific genre and doesn't do it well, and that will be a tough translation in other MCU properties.
  4. Wow, thanks, I didn't know about this - I just checked it out; it's really cool! I wish I had known about it sooner!
  5. Yeah, I have a hard time trying to figure out who they think their audience is. Like, it seems obviously mostly written for people younger than I am (44), but my kids (14 and 16) find it cringey. It sometimes has interesting nods to older viewers though - like I got a laugh out of the Sopranos inclusion. I don't hate the show, but I'm not waiting impatiently for the next new episode either. It's had some fun nods to the greater MCU, and that's basically what keeps me watching. I think Maslany plays the role fine, but that's kind of it for me.
  6. Ah man, sorry! The one I remember being talked about a lot was the Stegman, I feel like there was someone on the forums here who bought in heavy. It is a cool cover, but I think it was like $150 when it got released. One sold for $10.08 with 12 bids the other day, and there's a BIN for $19.99 right now. I bought 4-5 covers of the retail release of that book with art I liked; I'll probably keep 1-2 because they look cool, but the rest will just sit around until I eventually get rid of them for next to nothing.
  7. Remember those Venom 200 ratios that were going nuts? A 1:100 ratio just sold for $10 the other day on eBay... I'll definitely pick up copies of this Batman/Spawn run to read, but I'm not touching any spec.
  8. That sucks, and this is good info, thanks for sharing - I'm adding them to my block list. Just an FYI, there's a blocked eBay user thread where people would probably want to know this too:
  9. Yep,I've had that experience too - where I paid say $50 for something on offer in an auction listing, but it looks like it was sold for $30 or whatever. That's why 130point is so valuable when it comes to setting prices for sales, because a buyer using your screenshot example could say, "well that book just sold for $40" and if you didn't know better as a seller, you'd look at the eBay sale like most people do and you'd say they're right and potentially sell for too little. It's a weird glitch or inconsistency with eBay sold listings, because unlike a normal best offer sale, it doesn't cross out the price and say "best offer accepted."
  10. Ah, I see! I don't have hard evidence (meaning I haven't sold this way and I can't really prove that I've tried to buy this way), but I definitely have placed offers on books that were also auctions, where my offer was automatically and immediately canceled as soon as a bid was placed. That's why I usually try to offer asap if I want a book in that situation, and I'm usually a little more aggressive with my offer if I really want the book; i.e., I'll offer above starting price and at a price that I assume or hope the seller will end an auction for.
  11. Wait, I'm 100% sure I've made offers on auction items where my offer was rendered invalid as soon as the first bid was placed. Are you saying there's an option as a seller to still accept offers even after bids have been placed?
  12. Yep, like @SpideyFein, I was able to score it for retail on Target.com! Like he said, I believe they show up in stores too - my Targets can be hit-or-miss around here with releases, so I try to buy online if I can.
  13. This is a gorgeous figure - lucked out and scored it on Target.com before it sold out!
  14. Unfortunate tear in the top cover through the V, but it was still well worth the price I paid and then some.
  15. They did a big blowout of covers for Batman #100 and made a big deal out of it - so that would have been what, Batman #865 going by legacy? So it makes me wonder if they'll acknowledge #900, or if they'll just do something for #150, #200, etc.
  16. I know for me, buying has taken a back seat (kind of) for now - we had a couple of family trips this summer, I needed new tires ($1,000! Ouch!) and the holidays are coming up, so we're slowing our spending a bit. I think there are probably a lot of people who've had to buckle down a bit more recently too. My eBay sales are almost non-existent the past month or two. I did just pick up some TMNT books to help fill my run, got a sweet deal on a What If Venom Possessed Deadpool on Whatnot, and scored a Usagi Neca figure from Target before they sold out though, but they're not in-hand yet.
  17. There are even more of these than I realized - I always think of Crisis on Infinite Earths 7, but there are a ton: https://crisisonearthprime.com/coie/coie07homages/
  18. Looks a little washed out/overexposed and a bit blurry to me, especially on the CGC label. If the camera gives the option to close the aperture setting a bit (higher number aperture/f-stop), that should help a bit.
  19. Looks like the video was taken down. Really sad video - the owner hopped on his FB live and lost it. Crying, snot dripping, talking about how Clayton took his wife and she was the only thing that meant everything to him. Honestly it was a hard thing to watch. It was an 11 minute video talking about how Crain used him to get to his wife, and she reciprocated. He also says the acetates were never his idea, they were his wife's and Crain's idea...
  20. This is a sad and crazy video... The owner's wife left him for Clayton Crain?? https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?ref=watch_permalink&v=2944382399041439
  21. So funny add-on to this - decided to hop on Whatnot tonight because I'm just chilling and didn't feel like watching a movie. I just won a "What If Venom Possessed Deadpool" Skottie Young for $15. Granted, it's a mid-grade raw copy (6.5), but even an 8.0 listed raw just sold in a BIN on eBay for $180, and a listed VF/NM raw sold for $170 at auction with 28 bids. So a mid-grade 6.5 should be around the $100 mark by that logic. Even if you argue it's lower, it's definitely worth 3-4x more than $15. Such a strange format.
  22. The thing I find interesting about Whatnot's format is that there are a lot of "speed auctions" - auctions that run for sometimes as little as 15 seconds. If you don't have enough knowledge of what you're bidding on, the hype from a seller combined with the quick action can cause a feeding frenzy of sorts where books go for way more than they should. The format doesn't allow for you to check comps on what you're buying. That's why I'm really cautious when I do go on Whatnot, and I only target stuff in my wheelhouse where I have a really good idea of their value going in. Or I just lurk and enter giveaways. Conversely though, I've seen sellers do a 2 am show (I'm a night owl) where they have like 15-20 people in the room and they'll auction a slab that typically sells for $200 for example, and someone will walk away with it for like $75. I don't get it...
  23. I got the X-men/Titans in a $4 box at a show in January, it's around a VF+...
