  1. Buyers seem to be getting more entitled and they know it's a buyers market. Sellers will get salty after the 100th low ball offer but I'm sure buyers were a bit salty over the last few years when prices were jumping. Being salty when the market is not in your favor is just par for the course.
  2. I really want to go see the new Hunger Games movie in the theaters since it just looks good. A lot of people probably think it looks good so it is a movie that should be shown in the theaters. The Marvels is not a movie geared to the masses so I just think its doomed to be seen as another nail in Marvel's coffin.
  3. Good point. I don't watch anything on Hulu but I watch all the Star Wars / Marvel shows that come out so it's got more value to me so I'm a bit biased. Regardless - a valuation of $25 billion seems a lot more reasonable then the $60 billion that was being discussed.
  4. Based on the ComicLink data I'd say a CGC 4.0 would be more in the $9K range but I don't think it's a quick sale at that price point. Not sure if we will see $4K (undervalued back then in my opinion) but I'd not be shocked to see it drop back into the $7 - $8K range next year.
  5. I doubt I'll even see this via a free streaming service. Absolutely nothing looks appealing to me but I guess that makes sense since I'm obviously not the target demo.
  6. Not too shabby (+5) considering how hard I felt this round was. I can't believe the MRA 68 got a 6.5 with all the issues. I was thinking 5.0 but gave it a golden age bump. Headline Comics #11 @ 5.5 (+1) Out of the Shadows #8 @ 4.5 (+1) Fight Comics #28 @ 5.0 (0) My Romantic Adventures #68 @ 5.5 (+2) Ouch Nature Boy #3 @ 6.5 (+1)
  7. I see a CGC 8.5 continues to drop but the CGC 9.4 appears to be levelling off (and inching upwards). I wonder what the chart would look like for a 5.0 or 6.0 copy?
  8. We watched it this weekend and it was enjoyable. Nothing ground breaking but it was creepy without being over the top. Cool Halloween flick.
  9. Ugh - I just finished the 2nd episode and was about to give up on it and then I had to read this thread. I may need to give Ep 3 a shot and then go from there. The 1st couple have not been enjoyable
  10. Now that was much better. Two bullseyes on the last two books! I went 6.0 on the 1st one since I just couldn’t go higher with all that tanning. One off for the other 2 gave me 4 points. From 13 to 4 in one round - so there is always hope!
  11. After the last round being a disaster I was on the fence with continuing but I'm not a quitter. Hoping he runs out of Golden Age books eventually.
  12. No way - I can't let this once great thread slip to the 2nd page. I can't think of anything even close to hot in the copper age books but nobody puts baby in the corner!
  13. Well that was as bad as I had quested. I think I got 12 points with me grading under on most books. I don’t see many older books so I was guessing on a bunch. I swear I saw a big water stain mark on the corner of the back cover of the war book.
  14. Why is it I feel like I'm out of the running and he hasn't even posted the scores from the 1st round??
  15. Greggy missed this show and he doesn't miss many big shows. Take that what you will.
  16. That would have been smart but I saw way too many people who got into collectible flipping just because it was “hot”. It was an easy way to avoid harder labor and for a time it was an easy way to make $100 in $300 really easy. Unfortunately those days may be over for awhile and plenty of people got caught holding the hot potato. The huge spike in prices came from new money into the hobby but I don’t think they stuck around long.
  17. At least a portion of the money went to the people who sold during the spike. Another bunch of the free cash went to help people basically work part time and avoid low paying jobs due to their savings. Those savings appear to have been depleted and I’m see more and more of the part time workers going back to the work force. Wage increases seem to be plateauing due to this.
  18. I think they both the same. You gave people a ton of money that they may not have needed to survive. They used said funds to drive up collectibles and other items in the hopes of generating more cash or just because they always wanted it. Prices crash so they lose all the free cash and the older people who originally owned the collectibles are the ones who benefited.
  19. I’m glad Bob had a better show than Baltimore but people typically want to talk about shows they enjoyed. They want to show off books they got (especially for cheap). People want to talk about board members they saw or hung out with. What food was good around the show. Silence is telling in terms of a big show. The boards in general are very slow so maybe it’s not as big an indicator as it use to be.
  20. It went into the Boomers pockets. They had all the cool books initially that went up 3x and they sold to the flippers during the spike. They had the boxes of old sports cards that went for a mint during the unpacking craze. They had the houses that doubled in a few years. The free cash was giving to the young and poor and got sucked right into the Boomers accounts.
  21. Which is fine but I'd think they would go the way of other shows and call it a fan expo or entertainment expo rather than a comic con. I see a lot of people talking about the limited exclusives so that must have been where all the money was flooding towards. Sad to hear another huge Con is basically making itself a non physical comic book show.
  22. Lack of photos and reviews doesn't bode well for this Con.
  23. Owen Wilson does make a fetching assistant!
  24. I saw it yesterday with my wife and we both were like "what the heck did we just watch" at the end. Maybe I'm just getting older but the plots just keep getting more and more twisted and strange lately. It was a fine first episode but it needs to get much better.
  25. Seems like an outlier since there is a CGC 7.0 on E-bay (a MCS book) that is listed for $4550. Weird things happen in pretty much every auction especially when the books are decently rare. I'd not put much stock in it other than congratulating the seller.
