  1. Thank you. There’s not too many issues, so we can figure it out from this. My guess would be Damn Nation.
  2. Ouch! Sorry, man. I once lost a bunch of collectibles and books to a River of Poo after a move. If you ever have an home inspector suggest flushing the water heater in a house that has laid dormant for many months, run away and don’t look back. I did not leave that dude a happy message.
  3. That helps a great deal. Thank you! They were friends with him years ago, so he must have gifted it to them.
  4. My dad found this page in a portfolio that had gone missing for years. He remembered that it was a gift, but can’t remember what it was from, or the artist. Does it ring a bell for anyone? I thought it looks a bit like Death in the last panel, but was unsure. If it’s a super obvious series, I’ll take my lumps, and wear my paper bag with pride! Thanks, all.
  5. 100%…until I see the next page I want. My wife pats me on the head when I say I’m content, and gives me a “How cute.” I guess that’s better than a boot in the rear, and a dirty scowl.
  6. I got one page this year. The John Buscema Mephisto vs page from Anthony. I had to pay a bit over value, but it was an excellent Mephisto/Thor/Hela page, and one of two big nostalgia pages from my youth that I wanted from that series. I was trying to keep my powder dry for some upcoming cons, but you all know that song and dance. ”Yeah, I’m kind of tapped for now and waiting for…you have what?…Here’s my wallet, just take what you need.”
  7. Indeed! He certainly has a lot of hardcore fans. I got a SSB page earlier this year, and the artwork is especially beautiful up close. I had noticed the other prices rising, too.
  8. I was wondering the same. I feel like it could even hit 8 figures, but 4 mil has got to be the minimum, right? Honestly, I can’t believe it’s being sold.
  9. That’s where I’m left, too. It should, but how could it? I guess we all shook the tree hard enough to get all the acorns to fall. That’s a piece I never expected to see come to auction.
  10. “Who controls Barter Town?” ”Heritage Auctions!” Man, does that cover hit 8 figures? I just couldn’t even guess.
  11. Those pages were from an iconic, and hugely popular, Hulk Thing fight. You’re looking at the Hulk Smash and Clobberin’ Time KRAKA-THOOM price multiplier. The others, while still awesome, should go for a lot less.
  12. Will the last two bidders need to be given knives and put in a cage? Someone might try to sell a kidney mid live auction… Holy moly
  13. Indeed. I somehow blanked on JRJR, who I would slide in right next to Frenz. On any given day, I could see sliding any of them into Sal’s spot, but I’d have him on the mountain most of the time. Love Bagely and Larsen, too. Vess drew a beautiful Spidey. We’re all winners here with this group of artists.
  14. Ditko McFarlane Romita Sal Buscema And an honorable mention for Frenz. Loved his work on the title, but I feel he’s just behind these 4. No knock on any I’ve left out, either. Spidey has had a lot of spectacular artists.
  15. I will add my entries for Sal’s godliness here. Talaoc shares in the divine spark on that Ufoes page. The rest is all Sal.
  16. Love this. I often mark pieces on people’s Want Lists and message them the details if they want to pursue them. I’m heartened to hear others share the same collecting concept. I was a comic and toy collector that switched over 6-7 years ago, and was a little surprised by the differences in the communities, and how much more competitive it is here. I probably shouldn’t have been, considering the one-of-a-kind nature of OA, but I was new. 🤷‍♂️ Personally, I’d like to see it more as you describe. Making connections and reaching out is the name of the game now, imo. Auctions can work for high-end stuff…if you have a big budget and balls/ovaries of adamantium. I bought a McFarlane Spidey in a private sale just a couple weeks ago. Heck, nearly all of my purchases over the two years have been a few dealers and all private sales. I think the tricks are: 1) Be nice! Manners get you everywhere. 2) Offer at auction price averages. That might seem high, but will always be slightly lagging value since those values are increasing auction to auction for now. This also means you should be conversant with a market before you offer. 3) Don’t use tactics, and respect their art and time. It’s their art, and their right to say no. Don’t neg… 4) End as positively as you begin. You might approach them for a deal again, and it always pays to be nice, anyway. Might seem weird to drop this in the auction thread, but I’m weird. Sue me!
  17. I wish I had a time machine, so I could go back and give myself a swift kick in the seat of the pants for passing up all that art. “Put down the pogs, you damn fool!!!!”
  18. The Bat suit in your commission is the style they used in the new Batman movie. Very cool. (The movie is incredible, btw)
  19. https://comicarttracker.com/search?query=Man-thin I actually found a bunch on comic art tracker. Bechara (nostalgic investments) has a very cool one with the Thing. That tool is the BEST for finding comic art. Accept no substitute. 😉 Edit to add: retype Man-thing into the search and redo. Pasting the link seems to have messed up the results, but that’s the spot to see what’s out there. Sign up is free, and will give you more results.
