  1. Yep! Great buyer...very smooth transaction.
  2. The cover date on all original copies of GSX 1 is "1975" (i.e., it was treated as an "annual"), and according to Mike's Amazing World, was on sale in April of '75: http://www.dcindexes.com/features/comic.php?comicid=46233 Other sources put the on-sale date of GSX 1 as early as Feb of '75. In any case, it's safe to say that the book was on sale during the Spring of 1975. This is consistent with my memory of seeing it on a spinner rack in a 7-11 right around my birthday in May of 1975, when I was in 5th grade. FOOM 10, on the other hand, is dated June of '75, and was only available via mail order subscription, as far as I can remember, so is there a true "on sale" date for it? In any case, also remember that FOOM was a promotional/fan magazine, so #10 was almost certainly designed to push and complement the "new" X-Men team and their creators--as featured in a newsstand comic book which was already available to readers--and NOT to introduce them. Of course, none of this will stop sellers from asking astronomical prices for it, I'm sure...
  3. Thanks...please see the 2nd post in this thread for descriptions of each book, located above the scan (same for the "bonus" books listed on Sunday). If the book is complete with all interior pages and/or nothing clipped, it will say "COMPLETE"; if it doesn't say "COMPLETE", the missing element is noted. The #1 is in fact complete, as described.
  4. TUESDAY UPDATE, 6/27: The lot price has been reduced to $1275 shipped and insured (US only) for all the books pictured and listed in this thread... ...which is probably in the ballpark of what the ASM #1 all by itself will cost you in a year or two (or less), what with a new teenage/high-school-themed Spidey moving picture franchise rolling out...one that all the kids are sure to be raving about!
  5. Okay...how 'bout three more early coverless Spidey/Ditko-related books added to the lot at no extra charge? • Amazing Spider-Man #51. COMPLETE. 2nd Kingpin. • Strange Tales Annual #2 (1963). COMPLETE (original back cover is included and is still partially attached). Human Torch vs. Spidey story by Kirby/Ditko -- first Spidey crossover, and his 4th appearance overall. • Incredible Hulk #6. Last page missing; story & centerfold are complete. All Ditko issue, in keeping with at least one element of the theme of this thread, and the final issue of ol' Greenskin's original run.
  6. Hey, thanks all -- I've had some offers, but everything is still available at the BIN. I might also be adding another book or two to the lot later tonight to sweeten the deal a bit...
  7. Amazing Spider-Man Coverless Lot: I started to put this run together, very slowly, after selling off ALL of my early SA Marvels (including a complete SA Spidey run + AF 15) to cover the last of my kid's elementary/middle-school tuition costs. The idea at the time was that I could re-build some of what I had, on the cheap (relatively speaking), by seeking out coverless copies. But I eventually lost momentum, and my priorities also changed, especially with college tuition looming now, and my latest recording sessions running way over time AND budget. So…off they go to a new home! The #1 is 100% complete -- nothing missing (other than the cover!), nothing clipped. A few of the others are missing a single ad/non-story page, and in one case something small has been clipped from a non-story page. Please see the individual descriptions below for details. $1400 NOW...$1275 shipped and insured for the lot, which will ship via fully-insured, double-boxed Priority Mail Express w/Signature Confirmation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • Amazing Spider-Man #1: COMPLETE. Note the pen marks in the title logo on the splash page. • Amazing Spider-Man #4. COMPLETE. First Sandman. • Amazing Spider-Man #7. COMPLETE. Note the number "7" written in ink on the splash page in the upper margin. Also comes with a repro cover (not attached). • Amazing Spider-Man #10. COMPLETE. Note the number "10" written in ink on the splash page in the upper margin. Also comes with a repro cover (not attached). • Amazing Spider-Man #11. Extensive water damage throughout. Name written in ink in the lower margin of the splash page. Includes the original (and utterly destroyed) front and back covers. The paper itself is better than you might think, and the story is completely readable (NOTE: a very small panel is clipped from the letter column). • Amazing Spider-Man #13. First Mysterio. VERY sharp coverless copy with superb paper quality. One ad page is missing, but it doesn't effect the story, which is complete and readable. • Amazing Spider-Man #17 (2 copies): COPY A - the final (non-story) page is missing; COPY B - 100% COMPLETE, and includes its original back cover. • Amazing Spider-Man #28. COMPLETE. First Molten Man. • Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 (1964). COMPLETE. Classic super-villain team-up story. Includes its original back cover. • Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2 (1965). COMPLETE. Ditko Spidey meets Ditko Dr. Strange. Note the number "#2" written in ink on the splash page in the upper margin. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The lot w/individual scans will be up soon...
  9. Found these, and a few other odds and ends, and at local charity rummage sale this morning, which my wife and I just happened to stroll by on our way home from breakfast: This too... The comics are all very low grade, obviously, but they're complete with decent paper, and the 10-centers and earlier 12-centers are actually in slightly better shape than the later stuff. I donated more than I should have for the box, but it went to a good cause. Plus I almost never find stuff like this "in the wild" anymore, and just can't walk away from a box full of 50-60 year-old comics that somebody out there felt were important enough to save...
  10. DEALER CLEARANCE CLOSE-OUT SPECIAL: Take ALL FOUR remaining lots listed above--the pulps, all the paperbacks, the Star Trek/Star Wars books, AND the Heavy Metal #1--for $80 shipped and insured in the US...
  11. Hey all...just bumping this to see if I can flush out any more of these two-packs, and/or a few more stories from people who remember them...
  12. ALL PRICES REDUCED ... • Pulp lot of 8 - NOW $50 shipped. • Take BOTH paperback lots (33 books total) for $20 shipped. • Star Trek/Star Wars lot - NOW $12 shipped. • Yesterday's Tomorrows: Past Visions of the American Future TPB - NOW $8 shipped. SOLD!!! • Heavy Metal #1 - NOW $45 shipped.
  13. And...that's all for this thread. I am always open to offers via PM, and will probably be offering some "package deal" discounts before I close it all up this weekend... Thanks for looking! -Mike
  14. Heavy Metal #1: Pop in a Blue Öyster Cult 8-track and get ready to airbrush your conversion van -- this is the real deal from 1977! Moebius. Corben. The Hildebrandt Brothers. Mezieres (of VALERIAN fame). Vaughan Bode. Druillet…and more. If anyone tries to tell you that comics in the late '70s were nothing but a mainstream superhero wasteland of institutionalized mediocrity, they're full of beans. This stuff was aces, and available at your local newsstand (even though it was sometimes filed with the skin mags). VG/F. Original subscription insert is present and still attached. $50 shipped and insured. NOW... $45 shipped and insured.
  15. Yesterday's Tomorrows: Past Visions of the American Future: This is the 1996 reprint of the original 1984 edition, which was a companion volume to a very cool Smithsonian exhibition. The central conceit is that past conceptions of the future--in art, architecture, fiction, pop culture, etc.--both influence and in some ways undermine the present. I mean, just where the hell are all those Jetsons' skycars today?!? Here's a link to what the publisher has to say about it: https://jhupbooks.press.jhu.edu/content/yesterdays-tomorrows Paperback; 176 pages; profusely illustrated (see pics below). And get this: the cover illustration is by Frank R. Paul -- the cover artist for Marvel Comics #1 (1939) who has already made an appearance in this thread in the pulp lot above. So ya see...it all hangs together!!!! This is a new & unread copy: spine is tight; shelf/storage wear are the worst of it. It'll cost ya $34 plus shipping from the publisher. This copy is yours for… $12 shipped and insured. NOW... $8 shipped and insured. SOLD!!!
  16. No time for any new listings tonight, so how 'bout a discount instead? Take 20% OFF the prices of everything listed up to this point...
  17. 1970s Star Trek & Star Wars Children's Books: Lot of two includes the following: • Star Trek Pop-Up Book - Giant in the Universe: First and probably only US printing of this oddity from 1977 (originally published in Canada). Price sticker residue on the front cover. Book is complete, and all pop-up pages are 100% in-tact and functioning. Barely used -- a few of the pop-up figures are not even "punched out" from the page. • The Star Wars Storybook: This is the Scholastic paperback edition, published in 1978, featuring a simplified novelization of the movie, lots of full-color stills, and a handful of shots/angles/scenes (like Luke and Biggs on Tatooine) not seen in the final original cut -- a VERY big deal at the time! A used copy with the original owner's name written in pencil on the front cover and inside front cover. A pleasant and amusing relic from a much more innocent time. $18 shipped and insured for both. NOW...$12 shipped and insured for both.
