If it's large size art then I'll take the cover. If it's modern sized then I'll go with the Ashcan.
I agree. I just don't get the ashcan excitement, nothing against Moondog.
I knew I'd be in the minority. It seems like there's 2 kinds of collectors: those who find them fascinating & those who complain that they aren't "real" comics. That's totally understandable. I love them for their rarity. There's a thrill in going after a book with maybe 5 known copies. I guess I'm the opposite of those who post a new "9.8 X-Men" book every day & think it's special. I don't get it. Post the CGC 9.8 Pacific Coast copies of X-Men 1-5 & I'll be impressed.

Hmmmm, let's see.
Anyone who knows me knows I'd pick the ashcan, hands down!
-
G-R-E-E-D!!!!!
BTW - thanks for keeping this thread going. It's one of my favorite, but it's been dead for a while.
-
Kudos to EvilAsh for pointing me in the direction of this book.
My copy of #3 from the Dark Horse series is signed by Bruce. It's not slabbed, but I still love it. That's an awesome movie & a great comic series!
-
That's sweet! There's another one I've never seen before.
-
Thanks. There's some spine stress & a couple wrinkles in the top left corner, but overall it's a great looking book signed by the creator!
-
Ditto! If I could afford it, I'd love to have it.
-
Many thanks to Kevin Boyd for my latest batch of Sig Series books that arrived today
-
I received these beauties today from North of the border (thanks to Kevin Boyd)

Your best bet is to pick up a copy of Comic Book Marketplace # 71. Moondog wrote the feature article where he lists every known DC ashcan title. Many also have pictures.
-
One or two of them made an appearance in the "Short bus" thread. Hey, we can't all post a TEC 31. Very sweet by the way!
-
In addition to ashcans, I also enjoy other comic "oddities" like promotionals, give-aways, etc. I just received this set of 9 "railroad" promotional comics. It's not as exciting as getting a set of early 'TECs or something like that, but I thought it was neat to get the whole set at once:
-
I've always loved that Frankenstein cover! It's my favorite early X-Men cover.
-
Is that a trimming job gone horrible wrong?
-
"Relieved" him of it? That sounds like you hit him over the head and ran off with it! (It is a Mile High after all).
-
Very nice

Kudos to The Beyonder for the Hulk #4 & to rob allan for the Hulk #173. They both arrived today in excellent condition. Thanks guys! This brings the total number of Hulk books that I own to.....2.
-
Yes indeed! I only have 2 Sig Series books & I bought them both from Chris.

Here's the first 2 arrivals of 2007. I hope the rest of the year is this good!

GreatEscape. I decided to give flickr a shot with a few of my books. I think I need to
work with the site some more to get the photos presentable. Thanks for the info.
Is there a way to create a shot like that with Photobucket? I have a project in mind that would look great like that.

Very underrated comic, some real good stories in there. I was also happy to pick up a couple of more early ones from my LCS
I assembled the entire run a couple of years ago, then read every single one. Just wonderful stuff.
The Belit saga was the best of the best.
I love that series! I don't have any original issues, but I've got all the Conan Chronicles trades. The color in those is awesome.

Great books. Would love to go after a HG run someday. Having enough trouble with Marvel Tales at the moment.
Got a Christmas bonus from our very own Alex Hunter this year...
Throw it in with the Hulk #4

Is that it? Slacker!
That's a nice variety of sweet books. Congrats.

Also, in the process of going from a 9.2 to a 9.6, it lost the "Nicholas Cage" designation. Not a big deal really, but interesting.
