  1. That's a great site (thumbs u I use it all the time
  2. I have to say that I have had the best experience buying from board members...this can't be said about other places I've bought from (ie: e-bay and other big-time sites)
  3. Some strong prices already for the mid and later JLAs. It`s so weird to me how JLAs in the 60s and later seem to command much higher multiples than the early issues, which are much harder to find in grade. How many times is that 9.6 copy of #41 going to be shopped around? It`s a beautiful copy that I`d be all over except for the ugly ink stain at the top edge of the FC. Tim, I can't stand those stains either...there has been a B&B #28 CGC 8.0 that has also been shopped around everywhere (most recently on e-bay) that has an ugly stain otherwise I would have been interested... As for the later JLA's, i think because they are pretty cheap (in regards to OSPG 9.2 pricing) and also not the easiest to find in ultra-HG (CGC 9.6+) is probably the reason for the higher multiples. The lower price points (ie: $500 or less) have a lot of competition, but the pricey books (ie: $1000 or more) have fewer buyers....
  4. Lots of good JLA material coming up for auction.....wish I had some more money to spend....hope to pick up at least 2 books....unfortunately I don't think I'll win any 9.6's
  5. I just can't believe how much back issues in 8.0-9.6 are going for. Those JLA's in CGC 9.2 sold at some pretty aggressive prices in the recent Heritage Sunday Auction....I was surprised. I did pick up a few 9.0's for my set
  6. The grease pencil writing doesn't bother me in the least, as long as it's in an unobtrusive area, which it is on this cover. However, the URC bend is a concern and will definitely hurt the book's price. If I were Frank, I'd be asking CGC to reslab it for free after first straightening the corner. Not sure Tim was joking. I would do the same thing, as that URC bend is clearly slab-related.

  8. That URC bend is distracting and I also don't like the writing on the cover...Tim, this one's all yours...I won't be bidding for this one....alot of others that perk my interest though ...hope to pick up a couple books
  9. John, I tried a few things and I've got it now. (thumbs u Didn't know you could just copy the entire link and just copy it to this post. I have no computer skills and need to take a class taught by Flee-Marquette... Here's one of the nice early JLA's...wish it didn't have writing on the cover http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?SaleNo=827&LotIdNo=34028&txtSearch=justice+league&hdnSearch=true
  10. Thanks John How do you put a link on this thread? I have been meaning to learn how and would appreciate if anyone could fill me in. If you go to the Heritagecomics.com website and look under "Coming Soon", then click the "2008 February Vintage Comics and Comic Art Auction".... (thumbs u
  11. I wonder what will happen with the bidding for these high-grade JLA's with the movie now on hold and the coming economic global recession?
  12. Was previewing the Heritage Auction in February....lots of books I need....wish that "Fantastic Frank" didn't write on the covers of some of the nice early JLA's...
  13. Sorry to hear that you've jumped ship Buffyfan. I'm sure you'll be back to JLA before the year is through
  14. That's very true, Rick. To anyone who is thinking of doing this or actively doing it already
  15. Just to be clear, I WILL bid on Matt's auctions. But my max bid, even on books that I would want, is much less than what I would bid for a book that I thought was clean. Actually, I probably made Matt some money on this auction because the book probably would've gone a lot cheaper if I hadn't been there underbidding. Are there undisclosed pressed books in my collection? Most likely. Could books from other sellers, that I am willing to bid on more aggressively, be pressed and not disclosed? Possibly. Is it unfair to therefore pick on Matt and others who have a known reputation for pressing (actually, for Matt it's his livelihood)? Maybe, but I can only fight the fires that I can see, and can't throw up my hands and say I won't fight any fires anymore just because I can't put all of them out or it turns out there were already fires in my own house (boy, how's that for taking an analogy and stretching it past the breaking point). Okay, enough on this. I don't want to derail this thread, just wanted to comment on a recent JLA sale. I too will bid on the auctions, but bid much less than I usually would...so I missed out on the JLA #43 in CGC 9.4 Unfortunately, there is no way to know which books are tampered with and which books are not unless you were the original owner. I've bought books from Heritage, ComicLink, Metro, e-bay... When I came back into the hobby almost 2 years ago, I decided that either I would collect high-grade slabs of my favorite title and not be too worried/upset about what was going on.....or not collect at all.

  17. Shadow, I always feel like collecting another title after seeing some of the cool books in other threads...but I have so many JLA's that I still need so I make myself stay focused. Since you are pretty much finished and are looking just to upgrade, I agree with Tim that you could do a little of both. IMHO, I would probably aim for B&B 28 and 30 before going after more JLA upgrades or X-men books...Since the prices on the B&B's will continue to go up What numbers are you still looking for? I only have 27% of 1-100 completed. And only 10% for 1-261. Please see my JLA registry set. (thumbs u
