  1. I wasn't kicked out of anything however, that's the thing. I received confirmation email for BOTH transactions. Now after the fact they are cancelling.

I understand. I am just telling you that most companies screen the orders after and cancel the extra ones. Try doing this during SDCC exclusive season at Hasbro Toy Shop. Barnes & Noble, Disney and let me know how it works out for you.

  2. Has anyone else had Aspen cancel their order AFTER receiving the email that the order was placed and is being processed?

I am fairly certain they are cancelling multiple orders from the same IP address/home address/payment method/etc. Is this what you are referring to? Or just one order? I don't think they would do that.

Yes, the orders were placed on the same device but placed for 2 separate accounts however, for 2 different people, the shipping address is the same and the card used was the same because one party gave the other party the funds.

I don't think that is going to fly.

Would have been nice to know these things before hand. I feel like they keep changing their rules with every release. I know per account there were restrictions but orders were placed from 2 different accounts. The same IP because I was at work when noon hit on my end.

I am not saying they will or won't fix this, but it seems like the same rules that most companies selling exclusives online usually adhere to. It wouldn't work with Amazon, Hasbro Toy Shop, B & N, Disney and pretty much every other place I have ever bought exclusive items from.

Well I am hoping to speak with "Chris" tomorrow, their manager to get a resolution to this situation. The site does say X amount per account. Orders were for 2 different people on 2 different accounts however.

It isn't like I could make 50 accounts if I wanted to skirt the issue. Hence the CC and IP match that kicks you out.

  5. On this book The hated....

FYI just got information that all of my Orders for this comic were cancelled. I had purchased 60 copies from Midtown and got refunded for all of them today. Don't know what the deal is on this comic but something is up. I'm sending messages and then refunds to all 20 people who bought these at pre sale. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and won't be relisting any obviously. Sorry and thanks again

What book are you referring to?

  6. A) Most Wizard shows are the same price to set up at. You just have to pick the cities that good get attendance and you should do quite well.

B)Boys 1, 2, 3 are all pretty hot and have tons of first appearances. 2 and 3 are pretty cheap compared to other Preacher keys and, i think, have plenty of room to move.

C)Anything coming out this week that we like? I have not heard much about the JSC connecting variants. I know they are slightly subpar, but I think they might heat up slowly like every JSC book ever.

D)4 Kids comes out next week. Who is excited? I know that I am.

  7.

btw.. A 5.00$ sale on Amazon is 9.00 with shipping. Minus 2.60 shipping and 1.00 Amazon fees and cost of .75 a copy youre looking at 4.65 profit. And as was mentioned earlier, with Amazon, when you buy multiple quantities shipping is still 3.99 for each added copy. Buyers are aware of that and order regardless.

Sellers here are so old school with eBay one day they will wake up and realize how the Amazon machine is much more efficient with modern non keys and TPB and the party will be over for us

Not too sure where you are getting your fees, but you are wrong. At $4.74 (the current low price on Amazon) the fees are as follows:

    $4.74 + $3.99= $8.73

Amazon takes $2.06 of that right off the top and that is only if you are paying the $39.99/month for your store there. You have to add another $1 to the fees if you are not paying the $40 per month. Shipping depends how you pack. I use the Diamond mailers and they cost about .50 per to buy in bulk and then shipping is typically $3ish for FCM (they are very solid and I know the item arrives safe) and that is another $3.50 out the door. Take off another .75 or whatever you paid for the book and that leaves you with a whopping $2.42 each on average. Does that add up? Sure. Is it a pain in the butt to send out packages when you make $2.42 each and have to contend with Amazon's liberal (borderline insane) return policy? I don't feel it is worth it. To each there own, but I just wanted to correct your math because that was not accurate.

  8. It seems with moderns there are always winners and losers. The guy who sells some ultra hot variant that he bought for $10 for $200, he wins. The guy who bought book at $200 when he could wait it out and get it for $40, he loses. People can spend their money however they want, but it doesn't make it a wise decision.

What if the $200 variant is now worth $400? Or $500? Or $1000? What if he bought TMNT 1 when it came out because everyone else wanted it?

Don't know what TMNT #1 has to do with anything, but for every 1 variant that actually goes up in price after a year, I could point out 100 that go down. By in large it is not a smart game to play.

I don't know what to tell you. I just mean it seems that everyone here is acting like every book is a loser and buying anything when it is hot is a stupid idea. It also seems to paint a rather bleak picture and is portraying the end user as an insufficiently_thoughtful_person that is not capable of understanding what they are doing or buying. Are variants, in broad generalities, not good investments the week of release? Probably. Do books dry up and get hotter once they are all stashed away in personal collections? Sometimes.

I talked to my LCS owner earlier today, he told me that SDTU #12 had a print run of 7000.

I asked if he was sure of that and he said he was.

    I stil think it's a BS book.

But If I was savvy enough to get a copy graded onsite at Baltimore at 9.8, I'd put it up on ebay for at 200-300% of the last sales on GPA, I think it'd sell quickly. (Only sales so far are $100,$87 and $80).

There's a Capt Marvel 17 2nd print...a CGC 9.6...the 1st K.K. app., based on the cover alone, which is at $250+ in auction now....while there are CGC 9.8's of the non variant (which she still appears in, if I'm not mistaken, sitting at $90 BIN.

People who buy super hot book moderns are suckers.

This of course is not good for the long term health of the hobby but what can you do?

I paid something like $30 for a Ghost Rider #1 (the 90's revamp run) , back in the early 90's right when I was getting back into comics andwas suckered in by hot books....by the time I started selling shows at cons 2 years later, I had the book in my $2 boxes.

Live and learn....or sometimes, you don't.

    A) No way for your LCS to have that information yet. He is just echoing something he heard online or elsewhere.

B)Plenty of people make $$$ by buying super hot moderns. If you bought Saga, Walking Dead, or many other moderns during one of the many upswings you had, then you are sitting very well.

  11. Don't lose hope Awax!

You just might get your wish for a B/W GG Allin AF cover!

For those who have seen GG Allin concert footage, a brown tinted cover might be more applicable. I imagine this is not the most tasteful comment - but I am still a bit traumatized from watching some of his DVDs.

Ha...same here. The couple of different ones I saw were pretty nuts.

  12. One person can't speak for the market ..only speculate..but it's been from my selling experience (and following of sales) on any sketch/b&w variant of a specific book, that there's been less of an interest compared to the color. Yes, there's a lower print run on the B&W but the demand is not as strong. I for one love sketch variants. That's my opinion.

except for Luke BW...which seems to do well.

That was limited to about 250 copies and not distributed in a way that most regular collectors could obtain them. RRPs and things of that ilk are usually be more desirable because of this.

  13. Does anyone have any idea what the cover D that MCS has listed is? I haven't found a single reference to it anywhere.

    Young Terrorists 1 Variants

    Second print?

I bought some earlier today. I doubt they would release them at the same time. I saw a 2nd print release date of sometime in September. I figured you would know, if anyone. Strange.

Second print was just announced a couple hours ago via email from Black Mask.

NOT sure if that's cover: D

    It's a 1st print with a Ben Templesmith cover

And it doesn't come in a sealed bag !

The UPC label has this listed as Cover W

I think it is some sort of secret incentive variant or something. Someone from Texas has one on ebay now in a lot. Where did you see a live one from?

  14. MCS Has the ratio wrong, cover C is a 1:5 variant, (I nabbed it, and did the pricing of variants for the order this week and that is what Diamond has for the note).

The Cover D listed on MCS is the 1:10

Also, unsuspecting sell out with Guardians Team Up #10 because of the Deadpool and Rocket Raccoon story. Sold out in the store in 3 hours and was gone from Diamond by 2PM Eastern as well.

Then what is cover B? And why isn't a single copy on ebay or any images online with the exception of Lone Star. It doesn't really make sense.

How was it ordered/obtainable? It seems like no one knows about it and zero copies on ebay so far.
