  1. Hi I'm not trying to make you guys feel uneasy in any way, if I come off that way I apologize, it wasn't my intent. I'm not selling any hype and yes $20,000 for this book is a crazy amount. I figured set a high price and then take offers. I thought that was fair enough being the nature of these books. Let people put their money where there mouth is. I'm trying to be as honest as possible. I do want to sell these books, no hype needed.

    Thanks!!!

Why don't you just let a regular auction run (with no reserve)? This would solve all of your problems and let the market decide what it is actually worth. If you don't like the price then keep the other 9.

  2. Just a quick question...

What does everyone believe that the original, one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn by the artist cover for Maxx #1/2 would be worth?

Take that price, divide by 10. That's probably a fair guess on a comic with 10 copies.

That is a fair analogy. Original comic art covers and pages do a fraction of the asking price for these books.

  3. Hi, that's true most people don't care about the Maxx, just speculating down the road a new Maxx series could gathering renewed interest as the Maxx series had way back when. Just like with anything you never know!!! So in other words, even if you have a super-uber rare book what would be realistic a $1.00 a $1000.00 I'm confused if there is no sales data to gauge a ball park value, how could there be a market. It all comes to what someone would pay. That is why I have the best offer option so someone if interested, could place an offer. I might take it I might not. I do appreciate your perspective!!! Thanks!!!

It depends on what the item is...everything is different. I can't tell you how to price your books---I just don't think many comics are worthy of being $1000 raw books.

  4. I do not know you from a hole in the ground...but you have to be realistic at some point. I have many super-uber rare items, but the market for them is finite. Most people are not aware of the books because most people don't care about the Maxx. I am a big fan of the title and many here on the boards are also..but it isn't that popular and obviously not very mainstream. I am not belittling your books in anyway---I just thought I would give you a different perspective. Good luck with them and I hope you one day get what you want for them.

:gossip: His original name was 'lastyle7' (banned by dena 2/16/07). I recognized his name from his photoshop account when he returned as Alleybat.

So he had a 6th username? How many computers could he be logging in through to get around the system alerts?

Maybe a library or work server or something? I don't know if each computer shows up as seperate IPs or what.

  6. These are belated kudos to 40 of my best friends who bought some books in the past 2-3 weeks. I really appreciate the prompt payments and working with everyone.

  7. i think it will probably come down to the $6-8 range long term.

it is a preview after all.

I actually sold 6 of them for $20 so far. One on ebay did $30 a couple of days ago and no one really even knows about it yet. If Chew previews can sell for $15-$25 per (which is insane) than a Walking Dead preview (with a printrun of about 10% of the chew preview) should be worth a lot more. That is my take on it and I think once the general public gets wind of it the book will go up to loftier heights.

  8. So what would the benefits of the Walking Dead #1 club be?

Not as great as the benefits of the Chew #1 OA club...

In about 1 year no-one will care about Chew #1.

i don't know about that. with the lower print run it'll keep some value but probably not the same value as wd #1.

i love the title and i can't wait for each issue to come out.

this is a story that he can use to the fullest extent. there is more than 25-50 issues worth of what he could explore with chu

I thought he already stated it would be only be a 25 issue series.

  9. My LCS ordered the second print of #1, but they weren't invoiced for it yet, and didn't get any today. I'm guessing probably next week, I don't think anyone got them yet (shrug)

My LCS had 10 of them or so early on and he already sold out. I am in Ohio BTW.

  10. Just got back from a LCS, asked if they had any Chew #1 left, guy behind the counter is reading the last copy and lets me buy it. Owner said they will be getting more in this or next week though. Then went to another shop not far and the owner there said they were sold out but had a few more on order and that Diamond wasn't sold out (and it's not a 2nd printing) and he would be getting them in this Wednesday or next (he's putting two aside for me). So I'm a bit shocked to see the prices these are going for.

I am 99.9% sure it is sold out and that it is the 2nd print. I asked the day after they came out and 3 LCS all said it was sold out and they couldn't get anymore.
