Yeah I just started posting some stuff I collect and sometimes for sale on IG. I figured that it might be the best way to sell some stuff and also getting to know other collectors as well. My IG if anyone wants to add: gothamcitycomicscollectibles

Interesting Idea: Ownership of Shares in Comicbooks
Dark Knight replied to rclark123's topic in Comics General
Definitely not interested in this concept. Would rather own the book to myself than having a stake at it and sharing with others.- 96 replies

Practically every collectible grading business has their ups and downs. Some grading companies are more lenient than others when it comes to say centering for cards or stains on comic books. A collector really has to do their due diligence and research on that company on how they grade that particular collectible. There are times also where they grade stricter than usual to control the census numbers for higher grades. I believe there is a certain max % that a particular grade has to be reached for the top grades to control the census populations. This usually pertains to the ones that have a whole bunch of submissions for grading, the common stuff so to say. It could also be a myth, but I personally believe in it.

Possibly.. I think most bidders will be focused on the Promise Collection so I doubt there would be any "deals" at all in the HA Signature Auction. I expect bidding to be fierce right off the start and of course towards the final minutes. So, unless you have armor on from head to toe with a huge amount of cash ammo to spend, then you may have a chance at winning a lot or two. I think your best bet if you want to win something for a "decent price," which I don't even know what decent means anymore (previous auctions have shown strong prices this year) would be this current CL auction or the CC auction. Everyone should just throw away any guide or price you have set out the window.

Silver age comics that are heating up
Dark Knight replied to rabidwolf's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Yep, I was going to post about Subby #1. Very shocked with the latest selling prices especially the 9.6 that sold for $7250 Proceed with caution if one were to buy in today's market. All I'm saying -
I don't mind pressing at all on books (I own a few pressed books as long as it is done correctly), but Pedigree comics should really be banned from getting any pressing/cleaning services to preserve the originality of the book. To me, having a Pedigree book in its original state is more valuable and much more desirable in my eyes regardless of whether it got a grade bump after a press. I really hope CGC takes this into consideration, but it may be all too late since a lot of the Pedigreed books have been pressed and I guess sometimes it is not easily recognizable to tell the difference between a virgin copy and a pressed copy.

Congrats on the nice find of coverless books! Personally, I would leave the Adv 40 raw and enjoy it that way. If you really want to slab it, then I'd probably slab the book as is without separation. I'm also not a fan of separating the wraps individually, but it's your book so do as you want with em

Would you buy a slabbed book with brittle pages?

Just completed a transaction with Lou. Everything went very smoothly. Excellent packaging of a high valued book and great communication throughout. I'd do business with him again. Thanks again Lou!

My greatest disappointment from CGC for me is how ALL my books were not graded a 9.8 or higher

Dark Knight replied to serling1978's topic in Comics General
I believe that only applies when you're selling a TOS 39 -

Be patient. Hoping we can see a re-tracement of prices back pre-covid levels -
what's up with all the journey into mystery 83s for sale?
Dark Knight replied to jamesLog's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Agreed ^. I'm sure we will see other pullbacks from other hot books such as XM 1, GS 1, FF 5, FF 48, etc. Doubt it will be a crash if and when that happens as others are predicting. -

Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!
Dark Knight replied to Point Five's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
That seller has had that 6.5 copy for years and was on ebay on and off back then. I guess he can't seem to sell -
I'm guessing the back cover staining and/or foxing may have downgraded the book to a 5.5. Other than that, it's pretty. Good luck!
