I really love how Bruce is going to leave his adopted son $10.66 when he dies. It's not like he's a billionaire or anything. Those other 2 really speak for themselves.

Comic book historians have been trying to answer that question since the 90s.

WHYYYYYYY DID I SELL THAT BOOK?
Hairless Wookiee replied to I am not Glenda's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
I sold Star Wars: Heir to the Empire #1 for $5 about 6 months before it took off. At the time I thought "It's not cannon so who cares." That one hurt. -
I'm curious what books started you guys on this fun journey of graded comics. The first graded book I ever bought was Ewoks #1 and the first book I ever submitted myself was Uncanny X-Men 211 for the John Romita Jr. signing. It's funny cause I thought since there were no spine ticks I'm guaranteed to get a 9.6. What I didn't realize was the cover had some fading that really impacted the grade.

Have You Ever Bought Anything From A Comic Book Ad?
Hairless Wookiee replied to marvelmaniac's topic in Comics General
I had an old Batman silver age book (I forget the number). It seemed in really good condition. I took it out of the bag to inspect it and someone cut out one of those "get big muscles to impress the ladies" coupons. At first I was mad, then I thought I really hope that those muscles worked out for whoever used the coupon. -
I don't know what it is about wives and hating comic books. I'm constantly told that I'm wasting money on "stupid paper". I was a collector when we first got together and right after my daughter was born we went to my local shop and I picked up what was in my box and it cost something like $50. I was told that was it and I needed to stop buying comics. I agreed to it at the time, we just had a baby and there were more important things to spend money on. Years go by and I even sold my collection (mostly modern books, Wolverine, X-Men, Batman, Spider-man, etc.) and used it to pay for a week long trip to Vegas for our anniversary which she was really excited about. Now it's been years and my daughter is a senior in high school and my son is away at college so I've started collecting again. I work hard and I'm the only source of income for the family but she is 100% in charge of our finances. My collection sustains itself for the most part. I make sure to not use "our" money to buy comics but that still isn't good enough. I sold some Star Wars figures and used the money to buy some big books but she still acted like I wasted our money on it. There's just no winning. I'm always threatened with my comics being destroyed or tossed out. I now hide my best slabs and raw books from her just in case. She acts like my 3 long boxes and 1 short box are taking up all the room in the house. Anyway....that's my life.

There's a local shop that doesn't put a price tag on their more expensive books. They always grab their Overstreet Guide to price them which I normally hate. It worked out for me though since I was on the lookout for an X-Men 120. He brought out a NM copy and I was expecting him to tell me $100+ for it but he busted out his guide which was way behind the times and told me $50. I couldn't believe it. Considering a few months ago he was asking $40 for VG copy of Uncanny X-Men 144.

About two years ago or so I just got back into collecting. I found a long box of random comics in my garage that I hadn't looked at in forever. It seemed like a bunch of garbage so I took most of it to a local LCS just to get some store credit and clear some room in the box. I remember one of the comics was Star Wars: Heir to the Empire #1 and I also got rid of Batman: Harley Quinn #1. I've been kicking myself ever since. -

You ever ask yourself, “did I overpay?”
Hairless Wookiee replied to Wolverines_ComicShop's topic in Comic Polls & FAQs
About a month ago I bought a 5.0 signature series X-Men 94 signed by Chris Claremont for $700. The kicker though is that's its a PGX. So I probably overpaid but the way that book is climbing I don't have regrets. -
I've been working on collecting Uncanny X-Men. I have 116-329. Now I'm working on filling in 95-115 (I was able to find 94 &101). Also working on completing Wolverine vol. 2 & 3. I'm almost done with those. Need about 30 issues to finish them off. I've also been slowly working on the 1991 X-Men run.
