  1. Who's keeping tabs on them though in reality? Sometimes not being #1 in grading might be a good thing. Not saying anything is amiss over there but I don't know too many people that will shell out unreasonable money on the competition books. I'm sure there are some though.
  2. Maybe something adding dates of submission and MV stamp in place noted on label. Dates as like they do on SS books for books that involve MVS. And offering free resubs to do these. Just a thought. I know I mentioned this 100 pages ago and someone told me that the blue labels are supposed to recognize that the stamp is there which I already knew but......... at this point. Might be a fix for that particular book.
  3. If someone uncovers a high value / high grade early SA key book that is indeed a Purple book in as blue label that's gonna set things off.
  4. I'd love to say my collecting focus dodges this situation but still need a 238 / 252 and 300 for my run. this is a freaking nightmare for me as well. Thankfully I'm not looking for MJ copies or anything but still just to know that so many of these are target books...............
  5. Something similar mentioned very early in the thread after not too long by someone. Inner wells need to be either implanted with some sort of scanning code or something of that nature. I think this is the only way going forward. Just my thoughts on the scenario being resolved other than the multiple refunds and re-checked books that would need to happen at this point.? Scannable codes on paper attached to inner well on back of book in inner well maybe the best bet.
  6. I'll still be buying 9.8's and submitting them for some SS events but there's too much here for this to go away anytime soon. We need some clarification on what transpired other than what info we've gathered and what CGC plans to do to fix this situation. And then it may go away slowly but ppl should be very wary of the book they purchase as if this hasn't set off alarms in someone's head, they don't have one.
  7. I couldn't get this out of my chat so just posted it lol. Chat window was broke. Yeah you're right but it has been a bit more inconsistent in the last few years. I imagine it's mostly based on them training new ppl. And they probably stick the new ppl on moderns.
  8. True. Unfortunately those of us here make up just a small ratio of the collecting community. I've never been one to just buy a book based on the grade assigned though as I crack most of my purchases to get signed and need them to retain the grade for the most part anyway. Hopefully most are taking a good look at front and back scans when buying something.
  9. Buy the Book not the label is going to be something more and more people will be doing going forward. That's for sure.
  10. Idk could just be a crappy looking 9.8 but with all this MJ stuff going on that bottom back corner set me off looking at the book.
  11. As someone who primarily buys the best of the best 9.8s so they get signed and retain the 9.8 book I'd toss monkey poop at that ASM301 all day long and never even entertain the idea of it ever coming back 9.8 after being signed.
  12. Yeah I did some digging on other 301 books when I found that a couple days back but didn't find anything with the smashed corner I may have missed one though.
