  1. Wow, was that $300 back in the mid 80s or was it a few years later? Cool info thanks for that.
  2. I agree with your reasoning but that price is still pretty impressive when you consider Cerebus isn’t nearly as popular as the TMNT. It also explains why there are a lot less copies graded. TMNT is so pervasive in pop culture now I’m surprised the first issue doesn’t sell for even more. Especially when Pokémon cards are selling for 6 digits.
  3. Congrats, you’ve basically doubled your money in a year and a half There’s a restored 6.0 up and even that’s going for relatively high price. Netflix hype or pandemic bump? I’ve been collecting Usagi monthly since I was 9 and have been putting off getting this book and now it looks like it might start slipping away. I won’t be a member of this club because I’m not interested in the C, but I’m glad I got my TMNT back when I did. I paid as much to have it pressed/graded with cgc than I did on the book itself.
  4. A couple of Albedo 2s just sold for what seems like increasing prices. I seriously regret not trying for that one a decade or even a year ago
  5. Just got mine back from CGC. Got an 8.5 which surprised me. I bought it at 6.5 about 15 years ago. I did have it pressed.
  6. That was an interesting trade thanks for bumping this thread
  7. Thanks everybody, I’ll start getting it prepped for the journey and I’ll post the grade here when I get it!
  8. This book would’ve likely been VF territory if not for the heavy water damage. I got it cheap a while back in a collection and I’m wondering if it’s worth grading.
  9. The difference in time between when this book released thru to today is larger than when it released to when Marvel was publishing their popular first appearances in the silver age. It’s a more affordable tmnt #1 than the original and for a lot of millennials the pizza scarfin turtles are what they grew up with. That said it’s blowing my mind too
  10. I agree. It reprints the albedo stuff, has new material, and is the first Usagi solo book. It predates #1 by half a year or more. Plus it has a cooler wrap around cover with ninjas and other long time characters. I think speculators are driving #1 up due to the Netflix show and haven’t really done their homework.
  11. Thanks for posting, I’ve never seen this before. Found this in google: http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2017/01/the-independent-comic-book-sampler-1-2.html?m=1 tldr: there’s no new comic art just a little blurb about tmnt and a couple pinups, along with the TMNT cover.
  12. Magazine Walkthrough with prescreen/pressing: Delivered 12-15 Received 12-15 SFG 1-27 (First time submitter, since walkthrough does that mean I should likely be seeing it back soon?)
  13. I never had problems finding RGB and Slimer comics in the wild. It might be because I live in the Chicago area and NOW was based out of the loop. The TMNT fan club was local too (where you would send the pizza points from the toy packages). You can still find the redemption prize overstock at flea markets here.
  14. Yeah it’s weird, in the search it shows 10k but when I click on it it changes to 7. Might have been an auction with a starting price at 7 and a buy it now of 10 and eBay’s glitchy site isn’t showing it properly. But yeah either way whoever got it could flip it for twice that easily.
  15. Thanks for posting that, I was worried mine was a fake because it has the white strip on the right side where the red meets the black which is a big tell for fakes. But the cross hatching in shredders arm is noticeable on mine where in the counterfeit it’s mostly black with a few bits of white instead of red. Also a CGC first print 8.5 sold for $7000 on eBay 3 days ago. Whoever got that got a heck of a deal. 8.0s have been selling for more than twice that.
  16. You’ll fill out the form and it will give you a total without the credit or 10% discount. They don’t charge you right away. You’ll send that in with the book(s) and when they process it they’ll use your credit and discount and charge you any remaining if it applies. I’m a first time submitter too and that’s the info I found on these forums. The credit is only for CGC not CCS. So far only CCS has been charged to my card.
  17. It’s also my first time submitting. I had to do magazine walkthrough due to value. I did screening and pressing. CGC marked it as received 12/15 screening is tier + 15 days, walkthrough is the tier so that would be same day I believe. Pressing is 10 days. So it should be 25 business days total right? My credit card was just charged on 1/11 for pressing, but it still just says received as status. I’m patient so if it’s going to take longer that’s no problem, just wondering if it’s more likely to take longer than advertised.
  18. Magazine walkthrough received 12/15 with screening/pressing. Was just charged 1/11 for pressing. Noob question: it still just says ‘received’ as status. Does being charged mean they’ve completing pressing and are sending for grading? Since it’s walkthrough can I expect to receive it back soon?
  19. I like Hulk 181 exactly for that reason. It was a filler comic of which its historical importance has far outweighed its quality. The first of something isn’t always the best. There are far better Wolverine stories out there, but they wouldn’t exist without a few guys trying to do something interesting in an otherwise mediocre gig.
  20. I’m new and just sent my first book for grading. I’m patient so not stressed for time, I’m just curious what you CGC vets would estimate the time it would take to be returned. I sent a magazine walkthrough (had to due to value) for screening/pressing and grading. CGC to their credit entered as received on 12/15 same day as tracking delivered but it hasn’t moved in status since. According to the estimates a screening should take 15 business days for magazine walkthru plus the regular time which at this tier is same day right? And then if pressed it should add 10 days. And then the grading should be same day and then sent back if I’m not mistaken? So is mid January pretty accurate for them to return or should I brace for like mid March or something? I don’t mind CGC having my book and I appreciate that they marked it as received so quickly. I made the poor life decision of sending it in via USPS at the end of November and it got stuck with no tracking updates for 2 weeks at some distribution center. I’m just glad it’s out of the hands of USPS.
