  1. 446th: Iron Fist #10: The later half of the 15 issue series is really good; Claremont & Byrne working together. I like the opening splash- it's 5 years earlier than their iconic X-Men Days of Future Past cover...spotlight, papers, hunter protagonist. Nice to see the theme evolve.

450th: Marvel team up #2: Another cool splash, the pier and heartbroken character being consoled by Nathaniel, a drinker at the local pub...great here...but very funny when they do it again in issue #13 just swap over Torch for a post-Gwen Peter!

  2. 423rd for the year: Love the Mick Zeck run of Captain America that I've been slowly completing, as an Aussie I never thought I'd cope with what I imagined was going to be corny patriotism of CA but it's a more substantial read than that. Loved Byrne & Stern's 9 issue run and the JDM/Zeck/Beatty stuff is great.

This one made me smile; there is this cool little event in the Marvel universe where Doc Oc looses a tentacle - the whole event spans over multiple titles - ASM, Spectacular, Daredevil and now Cap. Very good fun. the whole book put a smile on my face!

My brother is down in Australia. I should see if he is willing to sell books for me there. Is there a premium on prices? hm

yes there is a premium on high grade books however the market is smaller...so it can be hit and miss, I'm obviously not an expert as I'm always surprised at what books of mine sell and what gets ignored...surprisingly enough I have mid grade X-Men 95-100 that no one is interested in, too much money for the folks who want to just read, not high enough for the connoisseurs 🤷‍♂️

I buy books from a few Canucks, you're a bunch of good eggs up there mate!

It is crazy. I have watched a couple that a LCS owner friend does weekly. People are paying $10-$20 for VG to FN drek he lands in collections that would be $2 bin fodder at shows. And, they still pay up at the end unlike eBay.

Sounds like WhatNot, oh the drek that gets sold on there - huge percentage of the market are uneducated and don't seem to either understand grades or care. They literally pay 9.0 prices for 6.0 books. I see people regularly pay 20% above retail on WhatNot for the exact book that the seller has listed on their internet site. It's all very strange.

I also agree on the international market comments; I'm down in Australia and the stock of high quality books is (and always has been) fairly thin, if you want your high grades then we're bringing them in. I'm not thinking it's a huge percentage, but yes, there is definitely good books leaving the US to be circulated in overseas markets

  6. This thread could have it's own movie: the suspense of watching @Funny Books waiting with the e-cheque, well that was edge of the seat stuff! Stephen King could learn a thing or too....and the box scene!!! The box scene with @BuscemasAvengers - I'm putting it as 2nd best box scene behind Seven...I was screaming at the screen 'what's in the box Tim!!!!! What's in the box!!!!'

This was an amazing ride, I think I need to lie down now!

Seriously though, condolences to both gentlemen, comic buying is meant to be a source of joy and pleasure...it's not meant to steal hours and days and weeks of your life and inject stress and brooding. Those books will be forever stained with the awful experience you both suffered.

  7. I also think the other key to his scamming success, and IMO there is a kind of cleverness to it, is that alongside the big books (like the Hulk#181 NM+ he has for sale now) are the mass of smaller books constantly being sold.

By selling a large number of small, non-key, raw books at fair grading assessment he has amassed a sterling reputation on eBay (100% at 10,000 feedback), this reputation gives buyers faith when purchasing those big dollar keys. It's devilishly clever. He's using a mass of decent small books sold correctly to lure in the big fish.

  8. Hi folks, figured this was a lovely way to read GSX1 with the lovely colour palette as I'm not a big fan of those super bright TPB colours, opened her up and I have 3 sigs (in my favorite spot)

Art Adams, John Bolton...and I really don't know!!!

I've only seen Glynis Weins signature from many decades ago, would this be hers after her and Len divorced or am I right off the path?

I would be so proud to have her sig, what a legend!!! Her list of issues is simply amazing!!!

    Thank you in advance
