  1. Garry wonders how much more meat he can get out of these wings if he could press them.

What the hell is going on there

I was being questioned as to whether there were any surviving chicken wings underneath the remains of the rest so I took it upon myself to prove a 100% kill rate.

    I have to ask...

Was that one portion of wings? :shy:

It was and it was only a starter to begin with :ohnoez:

I ordered a half portion but had a full one like this delivered and shared mine out as It was way to much. Garry simply liked the BBQ of all of his and left the meat (shrug)

You keep getting it the wrong way round, I ate the meat and left the BBQ skin bit. :makepoint:

Sheesh, a few drinks and your memory's obliterated. :baiting:

  2. It always seemed to me that the summer months were the quietest at the shows, I expect that things will pick up in the Autumn.

I've never been a big fan of the DVD/merchandising/miscellaneous parts of the show but I guess they at least help to keep the show going. Besides Rich and Phil, were there many well known sellers? Does Dave Finn still set up there?

Yeah, all the usual suspects plus Harley. I forgot to mention, while we were setting up, there were two old guys perving over a Manara hardcover we had, a couple of minutes later they were gone and so was the book. Shoplifting scumbags!

    Scum!!!! :frustrated:

Unfortunately, that's why you need eyes in the back of your heads.

That kind of mess really winds me up.

  4. At least if one person was having a good time, it was worth it.

Blonde in background looks happy being near a gang of comic fans...

    Who's ear-wigging though? hm

The blonde was just asking her male friend about the best way to break the ice with the Grolsh drinking dude. Comic geeks with hands that smell like spicy chicken wings really did it for her. :whee:

  6. Well, well, well...

I see a lot, awful LOT of chicken wings that look quite yummy, but where's the booze (shrug)

Look into their eyes, deep into their eyes, then you'll see where it went.

You can never tell with F_T. (worship)

As for Garry... Yeah I see where it went :foryou:

Actually I was unusually quite sober.

  7. It was a fine evening...great to see all the Brit forumites.

Incriminating photographs or it never happeded

    :sumo:

Andrew (Comicopolis) took a few at Bodeans...evidence of debauchery will be forthcoming....

We'll see, he hasn't unveiled the video footage from Birmingham three years ago yet. hm

  8. Maybe the most popular comic storyline in the past 40 years.

??? Really? More than DKR? Or Sandman? Or Watchmen?

I do agree with your first comment though. It could be very cool. I think it was 2nd season of Heroes where they did kind of a "future past" storyline. I liked that episode.

I think it may be possibly the most imitated storyline in comics.

  9. I love the original X-MEN and think it's a great concept. The Thomas / Adams issues sold well enough to keep publishing new issues, but in those days it took 6 months or more to get sales data. It sold well enough, but by the time they realized it they had already decided to cancel it and at the last minute made it a reprint title. At least that's what I've read and heard from various sources. (shrug)

Yeah, I think the X-Men series was done in by poor writing and the Thomas/Adams revival was just too late. It takes time for people to go back to a series that they've dropped when it improves.

  10. Fassbender was amazing as magneto. A lot of depth to his acting and character.
    Indeed

He added some charm & charisma to Magneto hm

I actually can't blame him for fighting against the humans.

I thought Fassbender captured Magneto's anger and traumatic experiences much better than McKellen.  To me that's important, because Magneto's almost force-of-nature rage really drew me into the very earliest Lee / Kirby X-Men stories.

    Agreed :)

Magneto is one of my favorite Marvel villains

Unlike most villains,he has a good reason to hate humans.

Blech...tacked on hoo hah. I can fogive a lot of Claremont's sins because he did so much good stuff...but ruining Magneto...

    :fear:

As far as I'm concerned, Claremont turned Magneto into the most interesting and in depth villain in the Marvel universe and Fassbender did a superb job of capturing a lot of that depth on the screen. 2c

  11. what was your 1st major arc you remember from comic collecting?

As a very young kid I first remember the Korvac Saga though I was too young to appreciate it properly, I just thought it was cool.

After a break, I was drawn back in by the Masters Of Evil storyline in Avengers # 273 when I was thirteen.

  12. I hate the hot weather. Can't sleep so i end up here to get teased rantrant

    Air conditioning.

    A God send

Either that or open windows :insane:

Great idea, just got my unit out of storage :applause:

Set up an electric fan in the middle of the night cos it was too freakin hot. I hate the hot weather. At least when it's cold you can keep warm easier.

  13. It's mine and the wife's wedding anniversary today. I had a very nice surprise when I got a FedEx delivery from mycomicshop.com and a Amazing Adventures #12 CGC 9.2 to go with my #11, 13, 16 and 17 in a Beast 9.2 set :)

    Happy anniversary Gaz.

On my first. Wedding anniversary (which is paper apparently), my wife bought me my first page of OA - from issue 100 of 100 Bullets.

To date it remains the only comic-related gift I've ever received from her!

Is that because you spent the rest of your anniversay admiring the OA instead of her? lol

  14. It's mine and the wife's wedding anniversary today. I had a very nice surprise when I got a FedEx delivery from mycomicshop.com and a Amazing Adventures #12 CGC 9.2 to go with my #11, 13, 16 and 17 in a Beast 9.2 set :)

Excellent, your set is filling in.

Oh, and since it's your anniversary, shouldn't you be out drinking with comic geeks like other years? (shrug)

  15. It's mine and the wife's wedding anniversary today. I had a very nice surprise when I got a FedEx delivery from mycomicshop.com and a Amazing Adventures #12 CGC 9.2 to go with my #11, 13, 16 and 17 in a Beast 9.2 set :)

  16. I hate waiting.

It's the worst part of this hobby. Not just the longer term waiting on the right book at the right price but more for the short term waiting for stuff to get done.

Waiting for books to arrive in the post (Currently awaiting 6 separate sets of books)

Waiting for grading. I'm Currently checking almost hourly to see my status magically change from "Verified" to "Scheduled" or preferably "Graded"

Waiting on a PM response from another boardie (Non-UK so no need to hunt through your PM's - it's probably not you).

Waiting on a decision from a friend of a friend as to whether they want to accept an offer I've put on a couple of longboxes worth of their copper and bronze aged Marvels.

Waiting for LSCC 13 to be announced.

Why can't everyone else in the world work to my timescale?????

    Aaaaarrghhhhhhhhhhhh.

    Vent over.

    Feeling much better now.

    Patience grasshopper. :gossip:
