  1. Getting there. Still missing 25 books (I think) in my 1-100 set, and I would like to upgrade another 5 or 6. It's a decent collection, but it pales next to sets like cheetah's. He's got two Avengers sets in the top 20: the #6 set AND the #17 set (with completely different copies in each set). I'm feeling slightly outclassed. (worship)
  2. I hope he doesn't have anything to do with the movie. Yegods, that thought hadn't occured to me before you mentioned it. Now I can't drive it from my mind, no matter how hard I try.
  3. And it's probably only going to get worse as more info about the movie is released. I have around 10-15 books left to upgrade and I'd ideally like to get them before the prices become too crazy. I'm starting to wonder if I should shift my focus to another title and wait until AFTER the movie has been released. If it's another Daredevil dud, perhaps prices will plummet again and it'll be a buyer's market. I can see your logic and it's sound logic. Trouble is, if the film is a success, the prices will probably stay on a higher tier. The modern comics can either help raise or impede prices to a lesser degree. I predict that Brubaker will bring back Cap at some point (after all, he will be back in time for the film) and knowing Brubaker, he'll do it well. Also someone (and I hope it's not Bendis) will bring back more of a traditional Avengers book before that film, I think. Anyway, I digressed a bit then but my point is that it can go either way at this early stage. The Iron Man success has put a lot of the fanbase and critics in a good frame of mind to receive an Avengers film but it's a long time between now and then and a couple of stinkers between now and then could easily kill the momentum. So in conclusion, I have no idea, what is the best buying strategy.
  4. Nice book (thumbs u I think this is the one I got outbid on by $25.00 on Clink this week I just submitted the bid thinking I'd get a large counteroffer. Was kind of surprised when they accepted. Congrats ,these are being snapped up left, right and centre.
  5. I think I must have missed them, I can't get any replys to my WTB.
  6. Nice one! Gotta love the Commissar! I love the Avengers issues from #16 through to the early 30s. Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Cap were a great lineup. (My all-time favourite era, though, is the Thomas/Buscema run from #41 through #62. That was golden!) The teens and 20s issues are the biggest gaps in my collection. It's getting mighty costly to try and fill in the gaps in grade. True, I'm having to settle for 9.0s for books in the teens. A 9.0 is a very nice book and a lot better value than a lot of the higher grades IMHO. That's a cool # 18.
  7. You sticking with this name, mate? (thumbs u I found a balance. By using 1's instead of L's in the name I can still search for mentions of Hellblazer without being swamped by my own posts. CopperComics is fine for my ebay store, but it's a bit generic for a forum ID. He11blazer, who has a bit of an identity crisis* *And now I'm sounding like Cal! Nice one. (thumbs u I think it's got a bit more character than Copper Comics.
  8. Excellent copy , the spine on that looks superb.
  9. Belated kudos to the following - Nik Followtheleader Djpinkpanther67 Beachbum Also to Greggy for an ebay auction. Sorry the kudos took so long guys.
  10. Sweet books Andrew. I for one am more than happy to see that 9.6 # 91 in the Silver section. It's too good to be in the bronze.
  11. No Paypal accepted, anyone here dealt with the guy?
  12. Silveracre always overprice by a hell of a lot, they're the British Milehigh Comics.
  13. Fantastic!! Good luck with CGC I keep looking for a #1 in a grade I can afford, but haven't found one yet. Hoping it isn't another 30 years for ME... I'm hoping to start looking for one around 6.5/7.0ish next year. What grade range do you think you'll look for Andrew?
  14. Are you incapable of arguing your point without insulting people. This is why when you do make a good point, it is sometimes ignored and it's also why you seem to think everyone has got it in for you. You just pizz people of needlessly. If you try arguing your points without the stupid sarcy comments, you may accomplish more. brain stems are for wieners anyway I'm proud of my brain stem.
  15. While I'm happy for there to be auctions, I think that most people will agree that the selling forum can't support more than an odd test case which means if the idea takes off, a seperate forum will be required. If this happens, I think a minimum post count for auctioneers to use the forum would definitely be required to discourage people joining up just to do free auctions.

  17. Congrats on the Avengers # 1. What do you put it's grade at?
  18. Here we go again. You only seem happy when you have a war to fight.
  19. I agree with this. If you're running your auction like tmoore is doing (whatever someone bids automatically becomes the high bid), then there's no need to "hide" the bid and bids posted directly in the thread are fine. However, if you're running an increment auction (sort of like ebay, you only have to beat the current bid by a fixed increment but your "max bid" does not automatically become the high bid), then you need to allow bidding via PM. This is true. Do all auctions have to be the same format, eg increment/no increment or can it be down to individual auctioneers to decide which way they run it. It could get confusing if it's not made very clear to the sellers.
  20. Nah, none of the VCCE will sell to me anyway, so that's no angle. Speak to me Elite. WILL YOU SELL TO THIS BOARD MEMBER?
