  1. Well, I saw it and it was good. If this one doesn't do well, that is the sure sign Marvel has peaked. Ant Man you could kind of write off since it was bad. But not this. If people don't turn out, it's because they just aren't that interested in Marvel movies anymore.
  2. Better than estimated Sunday performance for a $118M U.S. weekend. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/box-office-guardians-galaxy-vol-151307933.html Maybe a sign that word of mouth will be good.
  3. Technically, this drawing is visible in another post I made in the "Show us your comic book room" thread, but it's kind of in the background and you can't see it close up. So, here it is, my one and only piece of "original" art. Simonson convention sketch from 1985.
  4. Ouch. I got destroyed by that Avengers. I said 6.5. +4 for all the others = 8 total. Ah well. Fun contest, and thanks to CGCMike!
  5. Kinda. For me it's reminiscent of that movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. By which I mean it looked great visually. They clearly spent money on it trying to make something dazzling. And then they forgot to make the story good. Not even the whole story, but there were just parts that were sooooooo dumb. And too many of those kill your movie.
  6. Ow, that Daredevil murdered me. I said 9.4. 8.0 on the Looney Toons, and then bullseyes on 2. So, 7? Edit: math
  7. Well, turns out I can't see this this weekend. So now I have to try and stay unspoiled for another week at least. Probably not looking back in here!
  8. I promise, if it would make a difference as to when the results would get revealed, I'd be more prompt! Anyway:
  9. Was just going to say that I thought the idea of the ancient Greek gods actually turning out to be Kryptonian was kind of cool. And having that tie into the Amazon's/Wonder Woman's power. I mean, the basic "God" powers are just super strength, invulnerability, and flight. You could chalk up the difference in mythological powers to (1) various types of advanced technology, and/or (2) the fact that myths evolve and change over time. If we assume these hypothetical Kryptonians chose to act as Gods on Earth, they might then choose what kind of "God" they wanted to be. Ever read Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny? Same kind of idea, except with the Indian Gods. Anyway, not sure if it would end up making sense in the comic book universe, but an interesting idea still.
  10. My Mike emogi suggests I did better this round than last! Of course, with an 8 last round that wouldn't be too hard.
  11. I'm trying to think of "prequels" to successful films that ended up being good/successful films themselves. There must be some since they keep doing it, but, man.
  12. I don't think I can point out how completely incorrect this is without the thread getting locked. So, I guess I won't.
  13. Sad thing is, if they made that poster today, someone would absolutely point to it as a sign that Star Trek had gone "woke" (not that they don't already think that.) okay okay okay, no politics.
  14. How long did this particular moniker last for anyway? A couple of months?
  15. Das an oof. Under-graded everything, except the FF which I gave 8.5. 8 points I think.
  16. Man, if I could Photoshop, I'd be having a field day trying to shop Adam Driver into Mr. Fantastic. Edit (from Reddit):
  17. Yes I was! (you kind of have to take my word on that one, of course. I wasn't even on these boards at that time) I think you might be operating under a misconception. I am not a Captain Marvel hater, nor do I desire the next movie to fail. Personally, I hope it's great and does very well. I will see it, pretty much regardless of reviews. All I've said so far is that one trailer they have released did not inspire me with confidence. I'm concerned they're leaning too much into the comedy and slapstick.
  18. I am never wrong about these things. Except that one time I was sure Joker was going to be a serious bomb.
  19. Well, another easy prediction: Whatever GoTG makes, The Marvels is going to make less. So you know the higher-ups are sweating a little. Because if GoTG underperforms, The Marvels is going to tank, hard. Whereas if GoTG soars, there's a lot more room for The Marvels to make less, but still be a hit.
