  1. Is it my imagination or is there something off with this Peanuts strip that's for sale on eBay?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Charles-Schulz-Original-Peanuts-Sunday-Comic-Strip-Signed-Rare-Rough-Draft-LOA-/262820364285?hash=item3d31507ffd:g:wNMAAOSwA3dYhmRb Something looks wrong about the drawing to me. Plus there's no copyright date and the size looks a little too small compared with the paper in the photo. The same seller sold a Sunday recently. This looks a bit more authentic, but there's still something bothering me about it. What do you guys think? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Charles-Schulz-Peanuts-Original-Comic-Strip-Signed-1957-/262807133699?hash=item3d30869e03:g:IbgAAOSwo4pYcqJw Regards, Ted L. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=3589
  2. Thanks for the interview! Mitch -- any chance you'll come back to the New York Comic Con again? I enjoyed chatting with you at the show 2 or 3 years ago. Regards, Ted L.
  3. Just a FYI for those waiting that I had e-mailed Spencer on Dec 20 and finally heard back today. I've been dealing with Spencer for close to 20 years and he's never let me down. You just need to be very patient
  4. Hi All, I wanted to share my picks for this year: http://www.comicartfans.com/MyLowry.asp?GSub=257 Alpha Flight #13 page 3 by John Byrne I got into a bit of a bidding war here and probably overpaid, but I don’t regret it. I remember this storyline fondly and this page conveys so much without any dialog. I think Byrne was at his peak as a storyteller here. Blondie Apr 11, 1941 (1st Cookie) by Chic Young I’ve always liked the Blondie strip and thankfully nice examples by Chic Young are still relatively affordable. This features the birth of daughter Cookie and was being sold on behalf of Dean Young. Hulk #373 page 24 by Dale Keown I was a big fan of Peter David’s run on the Hulk and Dale Keown did some great work here. I also love Doc Samson, maybe because he's a perpetual underdog who's always getting his butt kicked by the Hulk. Rock & Roll Comics #49 (Rush) cover by Scott Jackson This isn’t the type of thing I normally collect, but I’m a huge fan of the band Rush. The comic was a bit disappointing, but I always thought the painted cover was great and couldn’t resist when it came up for sale this year. S.H.I.E.L.D. pinup from Marvel Super-Heroes Vol 2. #6 Summer Special (1991) by Guice Sorry for the crappy photo, but it’s large art and wouldn’t fit on my scanner. I bought this site unseen from Spencer’s site and got really lucky! You can see a larger scan here: http://www.comicsfun.com/comicsart/Miscellaneous?page=1 Honorable Mentions: http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=179980 I bought a lot of great art from Bruce Zick this year and couldn’t select just one for my Fave 5, so I’ve included two scans here. You should check out his gallery on comicartfans if you haven’t already: Mandala Graphic Novel (Dark Horse) Chapter 4 Header I’m amazed by the composition and imagery of this piece, even though I hadn’t heard of the graphic novel before Bruce posted it. This is a huge 17" x 21", so I had to take a photo instead of using my scanner. Atlas #2 Cover (Dark Horse) This mini-series had wonderful Kirby inspired artwork with great painted covers by Bruce Zick and Christina Sells. Aardwolf published the Futurians Return graphic novel this year, featuring a final unpublished story by Dave Cockrum. As a Kickstarter supporter, I got a great Sienkiewicz pinup plus the color guide by Paty. I also bought an amazing page which was lightboxed from Dave Cockrum’s pencils by Robin Riggs. So far, the original pencil art hasn’t been up for sale. Futurians Pinup from The Futurians Return – Bill Sienkiewicz pencils and inks Futurians Pinup from The Futurians Return (Color) – Paty Cockrum The Futurians Return page 11 – Robin Riggs over Dave Cockrum bluelines Kesel, Karl - Suicide Squad #32 cover I was a big fan of Steve Ditko’s Shade the Changing Man and was happy when DC brought him back in Suicide Squad. Kesel mainly inked this series, but he did a great job on this cover featuring Shade using his funky powers. This has an overlay with the Suicide Squad logo, but I think the art displays better without it. Thanks as usual to Brian Peck for setting this up and Bill Cox for hosting. Regards, Ted L.
  5. Can anyone rename this thread to say <$100? Maybe I'm a math nerd, but this is making me nuts By the way, I do have some less than $100 pieces for sale here: http://www.comicsfun.com/comicsart/art4sale
