  1. Is there a general complaints forum? In general right now, they're discussing National Parks. I'd hate to interrupt! I don't see another forum here even close to this, as CS may find himself on the famous list and this is the best place for everyone to chime in. IMHO.
  2. well, before we all whip ourselves into a fervor, I want to see what others who are getting boxes think. I'm very curious about the contents per box. If each box is essentially identical, it should have been noted and potential buyers warned not to get more than one box of the same thing.
  3. I agree Rock, the only person that makes out on this is the post office. I can't see how Sergio could possibly want these back. These comics are like toxic assets/ credit default swaps. These books were sliced and diced and repackaged just like all that financial chicanery. They were over-rated and now their true market value is coming to light. We need a bail -out!
  4. I should also point out that this was Advertised as Marvel and DC. I have more copies of Heroes Inc than I do DC comics. That theses are 85% Marvel makes a huge difference in a person making an informed purchase. I would not have done it, not one box.
  5. No argument that you will lose money here but you took a chance and lost. CS takes a hit to his reputation as he deserves. But his refund should be based on what he promoted that turned out to not be true. Ie how many comics at no more than 5 copies of any one issue did you get? The percent less than 300 you should get refunded. You can only do that on a per box basis and not in aggreagate if you bought more than one box. Same with condition to a point. But some of the allegations seem as over the top as CS saying he did nothing wrong. In the end I don't have much sympathy for those buying mystery boxes and then being outraged when they are disappointed. The misrepresentation - yes, value for what you paid - no. A number of the guys that got boxes are comparing notes, which is how we've come to figure out that every box is the same content fro the most part, with the same 3rd-tier issues in bulk. The "filler" of Heroes Inc, isn't filler, it's what go the sum to 300 per box. I've got 80 copies in 3 boxes. That's not as advertised. I had 5-10 copies of certain issues in certain boxes. If I can't take the aggregate of having multiple boxes, then the distribution is actually worse. I'm not going to take the aggregate in CS's favor that's for sure. There are not enough unique issues over the four boxes to ever get rid of them. I have a stack of Marvel Tales, Star Wars, BattleStar Galactica, Heroes, & Conan that fill one whole box and have maybe 20 unique issues. I've sent a paypal request for a 50% refund. That's my minimum acceptable restitution. I'll eat the other $300, as it's barely worth fooling with these books at all, the opportunity cost and labor is too high. If he balks at that, it will be a paypal dispute, I will use this thread as evidence, and I will encourage others to do the same. Paypal will track the number of complaints against a seller and it will impact him negatively. He has every means to make this right, if he digs in his heals over $1000 in refunds, it will cost him a helluva lot more in future business.
  6. I suggest refusing to receive shipment and filing a paypal claim.
  7. Ed, honest to god, you'd be hard pressed to break even at $75 a box. That's 25 cents apiece. Of the 4 boxes, if I blew them out at a show, I might git rid of one box worth, but the rest would languish for years due to the extreme number of dupes from a very narrow range of 3rd-tier titles. If I got $75 a box refunded, I'd still be in the hole and doing sergio a favor for taking these off his hands. Deception by omission and some very misleading photos is what sold the books. I'm the one that asked for pics of the boxes to get an idea of what was there. He claimed most titles were there. Not even close. Most single issues are not warehouse copies, they are old comic store stock in vg from a hand-full of comics stores. If this were ebay, and he presented these as such, he'd have nothing but negative feedback.
  8. I didn't just get a "bad" box, I got the same bad box 4 times. Virtually identical content. I'm actually penalized for making a larger purchase. Bonus!
  9. this is a case where if everyone had just been quiet, or handled this in private with CS via PM, no one would have known the extent of the deception. The cats out of the bag now thanks to the boards. I know Sergio is having some difficult personal issues, and is trying to raise cash, but you don't where you eat. If you don't make this right, you're pretty much done as a seller on this forum.
  10. He didn't just skim the cream off the top. This is 2% skim milk laced with melamine. The half dozen boxes that he sold off or held back mean he at least broke even or better. If he'd offered these dregs for $50 a box, and was explicit about the contents and was clear about people not wanting to buy more than 1, he MIGHT be able to walk away with a clear conscience. I offered to accept a 50% refund, and that's being generous, and he balked. WTF am I going to do with 100 copies of 5 issue of mid grade Star Wars, or Marvel Tales, Conan, Marvel Premiere 3-D man, etc. I'm going to end of throwing them out is what.
  11. WTF! CS tells us at least 300 a box, a number of the titles you mention were not present, 10% of what was delivered was Heroes Inc. Few Giant-sized issues ( I got maybe 4) And absolutely no mention of WATER DAMAGE. Had CS sold these even with Adams description I wouldn't have touched it for $100 a box, much less $150 a box for the dregs. Yet he says he didn't cherry pick. BUSTED. I told him at best, I'd be nice and NOT send them back and accept 50% refund, and at that I'll never be rid of this mess. Sergio: I'm giving you public notice you better come clean and make good on this bait and switch, don't insult me by offering a $30 credit per box. I got 4 IDENTICAL boxes of mess. Ready to go Nuclear.
  12. I can confirm that Comicseekers and I are discussing a resolution and he's been pretty prompt in replying considering its 2am his time and 4am my time!
  13. Well, I've sent Sergio a couple of options on how I'd like for him to address this situation. I won't pass judgment until I get a response. Neither one of use is going to be completely happy with either option, which means it's probably fair!
  14. I got 10 of those Kazar #15's. Of the titles pictured, I got 5 Cap and 10 of the Conan. I culled 50 comics that will go straight to the trash. It would appear that we ALL got the same crappy cherry picekd warehouse titles along with some random issue of low grade bagged (in the most wretched bags sticky old bags) items thrown in to break it up. It wold have been wiser of him to sell only one box per person. the more boxes you got, the more screwed you are. I wouldn't blink at shipping it all back at my expense for a refund. as stated in the sales thread: "Each box contains at least 300 MARVEL/DC of nearly every title from that era. All from the 1970's. There are multiples but I will guarantee not more of 5 of the same issue per box. Conditions range from VG-VF/NM, mostly all unread but these are from a warehouse." Every title of that era my . One token beat up copy of a fraction of the titles maybe. No DC's to speak of, and major gaps in the Marvel titles. Where's the 2nd tier books like Champions, Son of Satan, Marvel Presents, Man-thing, Ghost Rider, Nova , Ms. Marvel, Namor, Warlock, Inhumans, Doc Savage, Devil Dino,Dare-devil,Monsters on the prowl, Chamber of Chills, What If,Werewolf, Weird Wonder Tales, Marvel Chillers, etc. Huh? I got one Iron Man comic, x5. 3 beat up FF's 4 ragged out Avengers, the more I think about it, the madder I get!
  15. also....based on the pics that were posted in the sales thread, I assumed this was Marvel and DC.Out of 900 so far I got maybe 75 DC's, mostly Star Hunters and Black Lightening. Certainly not Supergirl or SHAZAM or titles of that caliber. Virtually no 20 centers.
  16. Marc, I pretty much agree with you, I was just hoping my 4 boxes being identical was a fluke or poor planning, but I got pretty much the same as you. It would have been helpful to know that so many were reprint titles : Marvel Tales, Marvel's Greatest, Marvel spectacular, Super-heroes, Adventures, etc. 10% of all books are Heroes Inc, and I have some god-awful 15 copies of the History of Electronics, just from 2 boxes. I have about 40 copies of the 3-part 3-D man Marvel Premiere epic, and I still have one box that hasn't arrived yet. $75 a box is the max any of this is worth, but no one in there right mind would buy multiple boxes which is what I did.
  17. I got 3 of my 4 today. hoping the 4th is lost in the mail.
  18. Sergio, ummmm, on second thought, maybe I need to cool off a bit.....
  19. Was this due to a claim you made thru paypal, or was this inititated by CAP? I just filed a claim with paypal myself.
  20. I thought there was a 30 day limit? When this all hit the fan here, it was just over 30 days, and my impression was he closed his account, so there's no money for Paypal to recover? Am I wrong?
  21. For the record, I'm out $28 bucks due to Cap Freak.
  22. Question: I got an email from paypal indicating that Cap Freak had made an electronic shipping ticket for the books he owes me. That was on May 24th. However, the USPS tracking number shows he never actually submitted the package to ship. Has anyone in fact gotten books owed them by Cap Freak in the last week or so? I could go the paypal refund route, but by now ya'll may have broke the bank getting refunds. $28 ain't gonna break me. If he sends the run of DC Secret Origins asap I'd just as soon do that. Just trying to gauge what the likelihood of completing the deal is now that he's been "outed"
  23. "Price: Please Inquire" I'd like to inquire about the prices on these please...................
  24. I just got home from work to find this Grail page had arrived from Avengers #156, page 2 (Buscema/Marcos) I got this comic for Xmas 1977 and it was the first Avengers comic I'd ever seen when I was a wee lad of seven. Probably in my top 5 favorite comics ever. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=490198&GSub=56782
