Congrats to your friend.  The question is, did he win them at his max bid or did he get a good deal on them?  Pedigree doesn't really have a stellar reputation based on past negative practices. Not sure how it is now, but bidders and collectors can form their own opinion and make their own judgements whether they want to do business with Pedigree.  I'm just reporting based on some of the experiences and research board members have posted here in the past.

Also, I'm curious to know why I have not seen Pedigree Comics set-up at any major comic conventions. In my 20 years being in this hobby, I've never seen a Pedigree booth.  You would think being a pretty known comic auction house that they would set up to take in consignments and promote their biz.  It's something I just thought about and I don't think I ever saw an answer to this.

I saw Schmell had setup at Baltimore this and last year

I noticed that as well, but it is afterall Pedigree Comics...  Who knows if there were any shenanigans with the bidding.

I don’t think there were shenanigans. A friend of mine won some of them. He’s an aggressive bidder like me, and simply wanted them. I was talking to him real time during the bidding - of course he was tipsy.

I told him to pump the brakes a bit, as I have 9.8 candidates of some of them likely to get graded soon, but he has a stubborn streak.

Very nice 6.5!  The top half is super clean ... looks like the only major defect is the staining in the lower right corner, which to be honest I always feel they hammer more than they should in some cases.  A stain that doesn't detract too much from eye appeal, like this one, is a great way to get a beautiful book for its assigned grade.  Congrats!

Thanks! I’m super stoked to finally get to own one :whee:

If they said that to you, you should have asked for a manager. They may have given you a free Economy submission certificate for being talked to like that.

That would be ironic. A free Economy submission. So more books can sit a year 😂
