I will depend on the whims of CGC.  To be honest, they rarely bump if it's really close and not a really well known book.  CGC tends to bump the low hanging fruit of the well known book.

    That’s what kav said

  2. Let’s see if I can sell this thing…

    :news:

Anyone who wants to buy the book, if you post the :takeit:, use the secret codeword “DORK”, and I’ll take 10% off the purchase price.

This includes any PM deal agreed upon.

Edit: DEAL IS NOW VOID with new discount

  3. PLEASE NOTE - I do not have the book in hand, nor a scan of it graded, but here is a raw pic and the submission tracking showing the grade.

Full disclosure - I initially subbed this book the 1st week of October, where it came back a 9.2. Notes said there were fingerprints. There were none. It was straight resubbed on the 22nd and got a 9.4 this time.

Book will arrive to me Wednesday from CGC. If no QC issues, if already sold it ships out the same day. If not sold, it’s going to clink:

Thor 168 CGC 9.4 oww - $2700 shipped worldwide. Will entertain offers!

Last sale of a 9.4 in GPA was July 2020 for $1126. A 9.6 sold this year in April for $4320. Two 9.8’s sold on clink in the past year for $20k apiece.

Has CGC ever stated exactly why the Economy tier is so long?

    My theory?

I suspect the two large collections (Promise and Oregon Coast) HA dumped on CCS and CGC in the 1st/2nd quarter of 2020 are probably the main culprit.

My guess it was an all hands on deck type of affair, pulling graders from every tier to assist. After all, HA had two big auctions coming up in September and January, so my guess is that was CGCs primary focus for 3-4 months.

Once the collections were finished, they focused on getting moderns caught up, as that comprised the majority of their ungraded population accrued during the Summer of Speculation.

Again, just my theory. I’m probably way off 🫣

It’s absurd that CGC doesn’t use something that absorbs impact.  If they can’t figure out how to put an end to SCS, the least they could do is attempt to lessen the chance of its occurrence on shipments to their customers

When I use CGC boxes to ship slabs, I always place a thin bubble wrap layer at the bottom as well as directly over the top of the books, so there’s at least SOME shock absorption at play.
