  1. How much do people care about a specific pedigree? Which one would you choose if you could have one for free? #1 #2 #3
  2. Which of these would you rather have? (If you could choose one for free)
  3. So here is the first example. The cost of these books were 100K apart, so which would you rather have? This book and $100K or this book?
  4. Which would you rather have? When trying to figure the value of my collection using GPA, I find myself questioning the data. Clearly, there is much more to the value of a comic than a numerical grade. Page quality, general appearance and pedigree designation have to be considered. So, I thought I would ask for others' thoughts on the topic. Please share your thoughts. Also, I would be interested in examples that you might wish to share.

"Ones That Got Away".... I am sure that most every collector regrets selling a few books that they have owned. Here are the ones that make me sick:

It is always fun to hear other people's stories regarding their favorite comics. If you have special connections to any of these books, or have similar back stories as any of mine, please share them!

#50 When I first started buying CGC comics, I built an entire run of ASM. Sadly, this is the only one that I kept. I really wish I still had my 7.0 copy of #1 and my 4.0 copy of Amazing Fantasy #15!

#48 I bought this one because I thought the book was undervalued. Someday, I hope to see this one get labeled as a Classic Batgirl Cover. I had intentions of buying up all the high grade copies I could find. Then, somebody spent over $15,000.00 on a 9.8 copy. It is no longer underappreciated.

#47 Bronze Age Neal Adams' covers are the best! When it came down to choosing between this one and #251, I just couldn't let either go. So, I kept them both.

#46 The adding of a Promise Collection comic was a must! I had my eye on about 100 candidates. This was not one of them. Prices were just too high for me to get a high grade mainstream Timely or DC issue. I changed my approach and bid on anything I thought was both cool and priced fairly. Still I had no luck. In the long run, I settled for buying a nice book at 1.5 times the price I thought was fair. Oh well, at least I have one.

#44 This was one of the 1st comics I ever owned. I am not sure how I got it, but I have vague memories of it being sold at my elementary school in Foster City California. It seems like it was offered with other kid's magazines such as Dynamite. I couldn't resist when I had a chance to buy the best copy out there!

#43 I wanted to include one Stan Lee Signature Series book in my collection. Instead of a key issue, I went with something a little more obscure. I am very happy with this one. It is the only Copper Age book that I own.

#41 This was the 1st "back issue" I ever owned. I traded for it in 1975 at the age of 10 (obviously not this copy). I have always wanted a 9.8, but I haven't found one that looked as good as this one. I will keep looking! By the way, this is also my favorite Silver Age Daredevil cover.

#40 I really only wanted one price variant in my collection, so this will eventually be move on. I think it is the single highest graded.

#38 This is my oldest CGC book. It is not a standard pulp, not a comic, not a magazine. It is comic book sized and very cool. It was added to my Top 50, because I don't have anything better.

#34 The "I am Curious Black" cover. This book was hard to find in high grade! I always thought I get a 9.6+ copy, but the market has surpassed the price I was willing to pay.

#32 I have had other cool Romance Comics, but this is the one I didn't want to part with. Not quite a classic cover, but very appealing.
