  1. Saw an Estate sale/liquidation sale/garage sale listed on Craigslist about 25 minutes away. Had some time to kill on Saturday morning so I took the trip out there. https://buffalo.craigslist.org/gms/d/akron-estate-sale-liquidation-sale/7013972404.html Went in and immediately saw about 200 comics. 80 of them were the Spider-man Collectible Series Newspaper inserts in mid-grade condition. Seller said a buck each, I passed and went searching through the building. Bought this for $25. Put that in my car and went back in to the building to look around some more. Dude at the cash register was ecstatic because he found an ASM #14 CGC 6.0 for sale on eBay for $2000 or something and was immediately thinking retirement. Explained to him the newspaper inserts and how they differed from the version he was looking at on eBay, immediately deflating his balloon. He then said, "Oh!, I also have some coverless books." Saw this fun cover: And bought these two for $5 each (Here's Howie #1 coverless):

  3. This! +1 The macro-grade should be the technical grade of how the book looks, externally based, as though that were the only cover. IMO, any inside cover or covers are a moot point as far as the technical grade goes. I disagree with all of this. Grade the whole book and nothing but the book.
  4. Wow! What's strange about this is those are new labels. I wouldn't expect there to be such a swing in page color in such a short period.
  5. That thought never crossed my mind. Now that it has, I would still prefer it as, in it's natural form.
  6. I'm OK with this book. The first time I got this book back from CGC I didn't understand the 8.5 grade. Had to call CGC and get the explanation. A year or two later I cracked it out and actually looked at the pages, which didn't seem Light-Tan to me; not even close. I've seem much worse pages get Off White. I threw the book into a random submission and got the same results as the first time - 9.2/9.6 = 8.5
  7. The thing about this book is that CGC decided that no book with Light Tan to Off White pages, even if it presents as a 9.8, can not grade higher than a 8.5.
  8. After seeing a ton of double covers, I know that the positioning of the artwork and the cut of each cover are usually identical to one another.
