...If I get a package that is media mail and it shouldn't be, I won't buy from that seller again.

I appreciate that line of thinking.  Sellers who follow the rules, even though the "risk of being caught" by USPS is slim, are likely honest with other facets of their business.

  2. I'm new to selling comics and have half a dozen short boxes to start listing.  For some books, I'll be selling individually.  For cheaper items, I'll be making small lots.

Either way, I've gotten a bundle of Gemini II mailers.  Once I have the book(s) in the mailer, especially less expensive books, what's the best way to ship?  Simply put a label on the Gemini mailer?  Put the mailer in an envelope?  Put the mailer in a box?

For books or lots >$25, I plan to use Flat Rate (legal sized) Envelopes.  Seal the Gemini, slip it into the envelope...easy.

What about the cheaper books/lots?  Most people won't want to pay $9 shipping on items of that value...

    Two quick caveats:

    • I won't use Media Mail
    • I'm at the Post Office nearly every day (for other sales) already, so USPS is strongly preferred

...not charged anything until your order is received and the paperwork sent up to accounting and then they will first deduct off the credit and then charge the difference...

What happens if CGC has the order for so long, I'm not charged until the following year?

My membership expires in February.  I hope the order sent back in the spring is done by then; however, turnaround times have quite lengthy as of late.

Just want to make sure I wouldn't lose the $150 credit.

this is a good place to ask questions, they're pretty responsive.  Also, if they repeatedly ignore other stuff, no harm in politely posting on public social media pages (or sending private messages there).

I do try to conduct myself in a polite manner.  I'm getting older now (almost 50) and would like to think I've gained a little class along the way.

The younger me approached everything like Happy Gilmore.  :whatthe:  It usually didn't work out too well.

    Good morning,

Thanks for your message. The current turnaround time for the Value tier is about 174 business days.  Turnaround times are estimates and will change from week to week based on the volume of submissions we have coming in each week.  We are currently experiencing extremely high submission volumes and are working hard to complete submissions as quickly as possible while ensuring the quality of our services.  We apologize for any delays or inconvenience.

For specifics on your invoice, please contact our customer service department at 877-662-6642 or by email at submissions@cgccomics.com.

    Thank you!

Additionally, I have emailed submissions@cgccomics.com several times, going back to June.  Aside from the computer-generated auto reply, I have gotten no response.  In many ways, that's worse than the TAT issue.

My phone calls have yielded similar results.  I've been trying to get a consolidated invoice for nearly 90 days.

Sorry to complain on the forum.  However, CGC has been completely unresponsive through other channels.

So, mid-December now instead of early August?  Helpful info, even if it's highly disappointing.

  7. A few months ago, I calculated the estimated turnaround for my submission.  Through that calculation, using TAT info published on the CGC website, I arrived at an estimate of Friday, August 6th.

Since then, I have noticed increasingly longer turnaround times being mentioned for the now-discontinued Value tier.  I understand things have been busy lately; however, do have the following question:

Were the turnaround times posted when CGC received my package irrelevant?  TAT for "a submission delivered to our facility today" don't seem applicable - in late August - to an order delivered to your facility on April 14th.

The submission # is 3848339.  Any ballpark estimate you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, in advance.  Have a wonderful day.

My submission was marked received on April 28. When I clicked on My Submissions it always displayed as received. Now it is not there. Even when I enter the submission number it says “we have not received any submissions from you in 8 months”. Should I be worried?

I was just presented with the same message when looking for my submissions.  Not to downplay your concerns; however, I'm oddly glad it's not just me experiencing this issue.

On a side note, congrats on the grades you got.  Nice!

As for DD 181, curious to see what reason is as I will be sending the same book in.  Even if missing pages / detached pages / missing staples it would still grade but lower or even qualified.  Hate to think that book was damaged along the way.

Thank you.  It was my first sub, so it looks like I picked decent books to send.  :)

I'll definitely update the thread when the books arrive.
