  1. CGC should show more visibility into the ENTIRE queuing system. Something graphical that shows the minute progress of the queue and its impact on my order. Nothing proprietary, but something that shows me that progress is being made. Or not. It would definitely ease the "my order fell into a black hole" feeling a lot of us are experiencing. Make it fun. People can compare their progress. Something to talk about and get excited about? If CGC is not feeling that level of transparency then they probably are doing something wrong. They should stand by their processes. Something like this could help CGC identify ways to improve the process. Alec
  2. Since CCS still hasn't touched my April 2021 submission, I've had several CGC orders run through a great 3rd party cleaner and presser with excellent results since then. Much faster and cheaper than CCS. And more COMMUNICATIVE! I'll never use CCS again. Alec
  3. 3 silver age Magazines sent in for pressing and grading. Economy order received at HQ on 4/27/21. Still in "Received at CCS" for over 7 months. Alec
  4. Famous Monsters of Filmland #1. Thanks for your time and expertise! Alec
  5. Probably doing some early Saturday morning system maintenance and the data is unavailable for awhile. Stay tuned. Alec

  7. I have a Magazine Economy that has been Scheduled for Grading since March 23, 2021. I have another Magazine Economy that has been sitting at Received since April 27th 2021.
  8. Thanks in advance. Planning on getting it cleaned and pressed. Ignore the following pics...they are not the actual book
  9. Thanks in advance. I have a certain fondness for this issue. It was on the newstands when I was born in 1965. Thanks in advance graders! Rodent chew in upper right corner goes through the issue. Planning to get it cleaned and pressed.
  10. Hello! Considering purchasing this Famous Monsters of Filmland #6. Sorry, these are all of the pics I have. Any input is appreciated on grading this. Thanks! Alec Alec
  11. I love this magazine. It's what Spielberg and Lucas grew up on! Check out my progress since January! https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/PeopleSetDetail.aspx?PeopleSetID=145485
  12. Thanks for the welcome!! And I completely agree this was a back issue that was sold later. Alas, these don't tend to bring a lot of value. Currently, I am only focusing on 1-35. Alec
  13. PGM Famous Monsters of Filmland 1962 Yearbook. This classic has seen better days. I'm interested on how this one will grade out. If you could point out the major and minor defects by name it would be helpful to help me discern between the two. Thanks for your time! Alec
  14. Thanks Qalyar! I lucked into that one few months ago on EBay. It's the highest graded for now! Super proud of that snag. I have a 6.0 too. Alec
  15. Thanks vheflin! I enjoyed these too as a kid in the early 70s. You're right, the masks were so cool but soooo expensive. I always wanted to buy back issues they offered but I didn't have any $. Since January I've decided to try to assemble an above average collection of issues 1-35 and need to sharpen my grading skills! If you know any collectors please send them my way. My Competitive Set is available at https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/PeopleSetDetail.aspx?PeopleSetID=145485 Thanks again...I'm going to post some more soon. Alec
  16. First PGM here. Trying to learn how to grade. This is Famous Monsters of Filmland #34 from August 1965. It has little value but it is a good PGM candidate as there are a lot of subtle issues. Overall it looks pretty good but here are some issues I see. I look forward to your grade. If you could provide your rationale it would be a great learning tool. Here's what I see...apologies in advance for incorrect nomenclature. Feel free to correct me. 1. Dent in lower left corner 2. Staples bumps have broken color on front cover (what is this called?) 3. Stain? on upper right back cover 4. Color breaking and stain/scuff on spine 5. Some kind of crinkling, front cover upper left edge 6. Little dents/dings, front cover upper right edge 7. Staple bumps back cover What else? Thanks for the help! Alec
  17. Thanks! I had a feeling it was a bit more nuanced than I presented. I'll check out Spare a Grade Alec
  18. Hi All I am trying to improve my grading skills. I'm pretty new at this. If a book grades at VF+ in all categories but has a major defect such as a 1 inch split spine, how does that impact the overall grade? Are the categories averaged out? What is the methodology for approaching a book like this? I seem to see it a lot and could use some great advice. Thanks all Alec
  19. I have a signed book with a COA. I did not have it signed in the presence of a CGC official. I'd like to submit it for Universal grading. Will the signature detract from the grade? Is there anything special I have to do to notify the grader? Any other guidance is appreciated. Apologies if this has already been discussed here. Just joined. :/ Thanks for your time Alec
