  3. Enjoy. Happy Spider-Man Day, Marvel Fans. August 1st is Spider-Man Day in honor of Spidey's first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15, cover-dated August 1, 1962. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Spider-Man has been one of Marvel Comics' most iconic characters for 60 years. The comic book, put out by Marvel Comics, was dated Aug. 1 — the day on which we celebrate Spider-Man Day — although it was actually released on June 5. Today is the day to celebrate the web-slinger in whichever means you most appreciate.
  4. Spectacular Spider-Man #46 pg. 26 - Mike Zeck on pencils and Bruce Patterson on inks. Bronze Age art from 1980, image size 15" X 10", featuring the Amazing Spider-Man and the Cobra in battle. Page is white and in great condition. "Michael J Zeck" written in bottom margin. A really nice four-panel bronze-age Spider-Man battle page from 1980 featuring a classic Silver-age villain. Four great action shots of Spidey and that huge beautiful 1/3 of a page panel featuring a fantastic shot of Spidey is really eye-catching, as only Mr. Zeck could portray. The first panel is very cool and the full-figure Spider-Man in panel 2 is classic Zeck.. A comparable Zeck Spec. Spidey page (not Kraven’s Last Hunt) sold for $10.6K on Comic Connect recently. I like this page better. 7K 6K SHIPPED USPS Priority w/ sig. req. CONUS. Buyer will pay for full insurance if desired. Art will ship sandwiched between 2 pieces of Masonite. Outside Continental USA, contact me via PM first, as there will be additional shipping fees and art will ship FedEx International. Personal check, Cashier's check or MO are welcome and preferred. Bank transfer okay if I know you. PayPal is great, no friends & family to circumvent fees. Buy it, make an offer via PM, or seals the deal and trumps ongoing PM's. Payment due within 7 days unless other arrangements have been made. Thanks for looking!
  5. Man, I can't wait. What a great series.
  6. Great show. Loved the ending (yes it was horrific but it fit the theme). I respect the creators in that they didn't milk the series for all it was worth - they told a good story with a beginning, a middle, and an end without adding superfluous seasons just to cash in on the popularity.
  7. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing! Some great pages there. Marie did have a pretty good run on the Hulk starting in TTA 92 until Trimpe took over and on Subby after John Buscema left the book. But yeah, nothing more than 10-15 issues in a run. I think Stan liked to use Marie for a lot of in-house production/colorist stuff and she did quite a few covers and cover layouts there for awhile. Marvel wouldn't have been the same without Mirthful Marie Severin.
  8. Great series. I enjoy checking out the title card at the beginning of each episode, where the four symbols inside the "O" are bent to form the remaining "Z-A-R-K" and how they relate to the episode. It's a clever device that just adds another small but enjoyable detail to the viewing experience. Sometimes I go back after watching the episode just to check out the title card again. It's fun. Like these from Season One:
  9. What's the diff between the white circle and regular printing?
  10. Great post! Up till now, I've searched page by page to find an approximate date when I believed I started a topic. This saves a lot of time. Specially looking for old sales threads to research something. Thanks!
  11. Avengers 28 page 12 TWICE UP Large Art - Don Heck on pencils and Frank Giacoia on inks. Silver Age Page from 1966, image size 18½" X 12½", featuring Captain America, Hawkeye and the Scarlet Witch battling the Beetle. It's a nice, clean SILVER AGE TWICE - UP Battle Page. Panel one is a doozy! Nice. large 4 panel action page. Very clean, white page; some minor whiteout affecting the art and word balloons. Panel 4 has the most whiteout on the Beetle's shoulders. See picture. The pic gives a good representation of page whiteness. $4500 SHIPPED (Continental US) FedEx Priority w/ sig. req. CONUS. Buyer will pay for full insurance if desired. Art will ship sandwiched between 2 pieces of masonite or in a sturdy FedEx poster/artwork box. Outside Continental USA, contact me via PM first, as there will be additional shipping fees and Paypal fees for international transactions. Personal check, Cashier's check or MO are welcome and preferred. PayPal is great, no friends & family to circumvent fees. Buy it, make an offer via PM, but a full price offer seals the deal and trumps ongoing PM's. Payment due within 7 days unless other arrangements have been made. Thanks for looking!
  12. Sub-Mariner #4 pg 14 - John Buscema on pencils and Frank Giacoia on inks. Silver age art from 1968, image size 15" X 10", featuring the Sub-Mariner and his arch-enemy Attuma the barbarian in battle. Page is white and in great condition. Whiteout used for word balloon and text corrections and removing border on panel 2. Artwork is clean. Two holes punched in the top and bottom do not affect art. See scan. Additional photos or scans upon request. A very nice five panel battle page with luscious inks by Giacoia. A beautiful first panel of Subby by Big John like only he could portray. These early John Buscema Sub-Mariner battle pages don't come up that often and this is a very nice example of Subby battling a major villain. SOLD! includes shipping anywhere in the continental United States. USPS Priority w/ sig. req. PayPal is great, no friends & family to circumvent fees. Buy it, or make an offer! seals the deal and trumps any ongoing PM negotiations. Payment due within 7 days unless other arrangements have been made. Thanks for looking!
  13. The first cover in your post was done about nine years after the original (bottom) cover, and the '74 dated cover was done by artist(s) who didn't work for Marvel in 1965. Looks like Ron Wilson or Buckler, et al. so it could not possibly be the original. I love the Kirby cover. Emphasis on the new character - remember, this was 1965 and the silver-age Marvel cast of characters was still very small so a new character could be a big deal. And it does look like Heck made some corrections on the floating heads like Cap's and perhaps Wanda's (Heck was known at the time for his beautiful women, arguably not Kirby's strong suit) and Hawkeye's, a character Heck co-created and designed. I do like the U.K. cover, too. The Kirby cover is a textbook example of a silver age Marvel cover and the U.K. reprint is a textbook example of a bronze age cover. Two distinct phases and looks. I'm guessing (apologies if I'm wrong) that your sweet spot - when you started reading comics and appreciating the artform, was during the bronze age or later and not the silver age like mine would be. That can play in to your preference for the one and mine for the other. Either way, great stuff!
  14. "First Man discovered fire, then he began cave-painting and shortly thereafter came the light table." "Never draw anything you can copy, never copy anything you can trace, never trace anything you can cut out and paste up." -Wally Wood, I'm told.
  15. @thesink, jump on in, the water's fine! And if you do get near long-time posters and the water gets warm, it ain't because they're angry.
  16. With a lot of potential. When the artist gets as comfortable at drawing figures and drapery as they clearly are at drawing facial features and hair (the hat's really good, too) they'll turn out some pretty slick work. Behind this drawing, I envision lots and lots of sketch pages of mostly heads and faces with not a lot of emphasis on figure drawing or drapery. Which is a great start. -just my opinion, i could be wrong.
  17. Oh, and Marvel Tales #9 has a Subby cover appearance in a reprint of a Human Torch story in Strange Tales.
  18. I'd say amateur. Too much inconsistency in lineweights on the MJ figure. Too much evidence of back-and-forth and filling-in on the MJ outline, rather than the "single-stroke" that an experienced professional could accomplish.
  19. There's a couple Not Brand Echh covers with the Sunk-Mariner if you wanna include parodies. There's a couple Fantasy Masterpieces covers if you wanna include s.a. reprints of the Golden Age Subby. And there's more than a couple Marvel Collectors Item Classics covers featuring Subby in s.a. FF reprints on the cover. I guess it depends on your parameters.
