  1. Agree 100%

I think the end of season 2 was an interesting transitional period for the comics. I think it's safe to say that just about every single affordable raw issue of this series has now been snatched up at the LCS, and all of these books have flooded the eBay market from sellers looking to capitalize on the madness. The sheer volume of sales on eBay pretty much guaranteed that there would be a letdown shortly thereafter. But now, much of the available product out there has settled into the hands of new collectors, and these collectors are much more financially invested in these books than the previous generation of owners. So...the LCS supply has dwindled, and the sell-through continues on eBay. By the time the next season rolls around, I would expect key issues to be a bit harder to come by unless prices continue to increase. I think that, more and more, the available supply is slowly making its way into the hands of long-term collectors (rather than insta-flippers), and so prices could go up again if/when season 3 brings even more fans on board and ushers in another increase in demand for the comics.

I do think that, in the long run, prices will come back down to Earth (at least to the point they were at before the season 2 finale)...but I think the TV show will have to run its course first.

I would be liquidating all of the common issues at this point, but I'm not so eager to let go of the keys yet.

Just my 2c , of course.

  2. I would say that the non key issues are starting to see a cool down. Still selling a couple a day of random issues, but it's slowed from the 10-20 random issues a day that were selling for a while. One book to look out for is the "Rise of the Governor" Slipcase signed edition. Only 200 of these made. They had a retail at $125. I've sold one at show for $200 and one out of the ebay store for the same. I don't think a lot of stores carried these and this might be in heavy demand once "Governormania" sweeps the universe. I've still got one in the ebay store at 2 franklins, but the other few guys have theirs closer to $300. If you have a shop near you that you can get this at cover for, i suggest doing it.

    Did TWD finally cool down?
  3. There's a dynamic forces WD #50? Never heard of this........

you guys think I can get 300 for walking dead 9.8 #50 variant signed by kirkman? last one sold was for 250. Or should I wait till the governor shows up on the show?

Is this the Dynamic Forces book?

If so, yes, you should be able to get $300 for it no problem. I'm still kicking myself in the for not buying a copy I saw.

  4. No. But it is pretty good.

Oh, and did I mention that the first 50 issues of the Walking Dead DID happen? This fact can never be changed. No matter what happens in the series, no one who reads it will forget just how good it was at that point. Even if the art gets worse and Kirkman 's writing turns to mess, people will still read the first 50 as it's an epic story.

Is it as epic as Preacher was?

  5. Thanks for the tips guys. I actually might have use for this since i actually have some other books from the same guy with the same thing. (more walking dead issues included) IN other news, i have decided to make the Walking Dead #26 hot because it's the 1st app. of the Governor's foot prints. (or feet prints as we might say in Ga) I'm either going to put this high grade copy i have in the store at $20, or $200. Thoughts?

  6. whoa. You're not kidding. I hadn't even had a chance to check the progress. I have some up that are residue free. It would be weird if the ex sticker ones get the same as the others that don't have that sticky area. I've sold several of these the past few weeks for $40-$60 buy it nows, but the bidding seems to get crazy on these the last couple of weeks. I've talked to several customers that bought the $40-$60 priced ones and they knew exactly what they were getting. I would worry about the ones that get $200-$300 , but it seems like these weekly #1's are a good alternative for people who can't shell out $1000 for a nice #1. The fact that the books are so similar to the originals (excluding the distinctive "weekly" right there on the cover) combined with the low print runs are semi justifying these crazy town prices right now.

  7. Yeah, i rescued 5 of these from some doosh who puts "1/2 off cover price" stickers on his books that don't sell quickly. I was glad to get them, but would rather have paid full cover than have to explain to people there is a sticky spot on the cover. Too many weird connotations associated with that terminology. I didn't really try to get the residue off. I didn't want to start doing experiments on them and figured it was better to just disclose that the little sticky spot was there. I may do an auction next week with the " 5 stickers that were on copies of walking dead weekly #1" I'm sure that would get some action during walking dead mania.

This Weekly 1 has sticky residue from a sticker being removed from the front cover???

  8. Hey thanks! That's a fun site.

What site are you going to to see print runs? I know someone posted a link to something recently, but i can't remember what it was....I bet the walking dead weekly was pretty low for the last 35 issues or so........Most shops i know went down to subscriber only after the first 20.

For those that aren't already aware:

Estimated Print runs based on orders for :

    Walking Dead 19......17,222

    Walking Dead Weekly 19.....4,619

    Food for thought.. ;)

The site is Comic Chronicles and last few Walking Dead Weekly books had print runs between 3400 and 3900.

  10. Agreed! Double spit! I love infinite vacation. I think this one has a good amount of potential to explode at some point if it can ever come out with any regularity.

maybe Thief of Thieves will get caught in the TWD Kirkman explosion.and take off.

i spit on nick spencer. he should be locked in a room until he finishes infinite vacation before he's allowed to write anything else. what exactly is kirkman's involvement in ToT- smells like next to nothing to me.
