  1. He sure was .... and a NICE guy too!!! I talked with him via e-mails several times & bought a few Bronze Age art pages from him. I wish I still had them. Anyway, yeah .... his Golden Age work is starting to get the recognition it deserves & that makes me very happy!
  2. On second thought, I think you're right about that. Well, I hope they aren't TOO hard to crack open, 'cause I've got one on the way that will be set free upon arrival. I guess I'll find out next week.
  3. I think there's a youtube video with Ricky cracking one out.
  4. These Zip splash pages are absolutely out-of-control Russell I REALLY wish somebody would do a Zip 1-35 thread Of course, issue by issue with interior splashes WOULD be an undertaking that MOST couldn't accomplish, due to most people having their Zips in slabs. I know it'd be a LOT of work too, but maybe someday when life slows down a bit A fella can dream, can't he?
  5. I don't currently have a lot of MLJ's, but I DO have a few .....
  6. I do very much enjoy his work on Ace books & was surprised to know how MANY covers he did for them. I think his early work seemed to go completely unnoticed until recently .... well, not completely I guess, 'cause guys like Jon Berk and a few others knew, but it certainly wasn't something many collectors talked about.
  7. I'd LOVE to have this 3 pocket rack!!! Is it yours?
  8. Thanks buddy! Remember in the early 90's when we first started buying Golden Age? We didn't know what the hubbub was with these "pedigrees" we'd hear whispers about. Why do people pay "over guide" for them? All it took was to get our hands on some to become crystal clear. Like, "Oh, this is how they're SUPPOSED to look!"
  9. Oh yeah, well that's still gonna happen .... BUT there are many things these days to level out that playing field, one of which is certification. I may not always agree with the grade of a certified book, but I seriously doubt that there's a better team of restoration detection eyeballs than that of Matt & Chris. There are dealers who I simply won't buy an undocumented raw book from thru the mail. Done. Been around the block too many times to "create" headaches for myself. I've been sent books missing centerfolds, missing other interior pages, had undisclosed restoration, wrong back covers .... the list goes on. I've done my best to point things out that a dealer may have missed .... like color touch on a book that I could see THRU THE MYLAR without even taking it out .... only to have it put under the table & still see it on their site .... nothing noted. The money is big in this hobby & some can't resist the lure of the "sinister buck" .... however, I have assembled quite a nice list of VERY reputable dealers from which to buy from. We may not always agree on price .... but they won't deliberately screw a collector over. These boards themselves are quite an effective tool to keep people on the level. ALL of my board dealings have been top-notch, not a complaint in the bunch. Since everything HAS been just great for me on here, there's been no need to take a strong stance toward anyone, but if someone were to be an out-and-out CROOK to me, I wouldn't hesitate to light them up! I'd expect the same. No quarter. Be honest. Everyone makes mistakes ..... some make a good living making them. They have little to none of MY money in their pockets. Oh the stories we could share over a stack of funny books & a pizza Steve!!! Russ would wanna be a part of that too.
  10. Thank you RJ! It's a book that I'd turned down many low grade copies of before this one crossed my path. I feel it's Suspense 3's little brother in many ways & offers quite the bang for the buck! STILL affordable .... but this post may become "dated" very quickly. Ha! I still need to tweak my picture taking method .... I just threw this on the back of the sofa .... you can see my oscillating fan over the bound girl in the lower left .... stupid reflection
  11. I can't remember which issue this is from ....
  12. Whoa hey ..... don't let Billy see this panel ..... he'll have T-SHIRTS made
  13. Ooooooo, a Vancouver copy!! Ricky if you crack this out, you won't be disappointed in those pages!! I'm not sure which has the best pages, Vancouver or Church???
