  1. Congrats on joining the Adventure 37 club. That is hands down the best issue of the run. I'm still hoping to someday pickup a copy of Double Action 2 to go along with my copy....a man's gotta dream, right? Thanks! I'm a long time fan, first time member of the aforementioned club! I've just never been fortunate enough to notice an affordable copy before it was snapped up.
  2. Great catch! I've never noticed that, even though I have an unslabbed Adv. 37. RHG, I'd be MORE than happy to sift through those raw gems you've got & alert you to any/all cool findings on the inside Be prepared to be tapped on the shoulder & have funny books thrust under your nose for weeks on end So many awesome raw books, so little time ....
  3. I've never seen anyone post this before about this boo!k! I've only seen in mentioned in the Tec 26. Well, it's in the Adventure 37 too!!
  4. Just got this in today!!! Low grade but complete, a book I've wanted for a long time.
  5. That's a beaut! Thanks Sqeggs. Is there a way to prevent that effect when reducing the scan? RHG, if you DO purchase a high grade copy & this one becomes available, I would be VERY interested in it. Feel free to P.M. me at will with a price I promise I'll break it out & enjoy it!!!! Frisco, find me a higher graded copy and Ill be happy to make this copy available to you. I wish I can't even find a No Grade copy, much less a mid or better grade I shall continue the search Btw, very pretty book you've got there

  7. And, thanks for leaving the Zip 19 for me You've crossed some very tough books off the Pep list. Congrats! Thanks Steve! You've got a few of the Peps in your sig line that'd make a nice block of them, although I don't expect to be able to get them. Although .... I did give the cover of 34 to a friend who was desperately in love with it, and once he got several other copies, kept telling me he was sending it back.
  8. I actually got all 3 of these within a month & a half space of time, at 2 local comic shows Good thing Archie Steve already has them
  9. Another pick-up from last month. This batch sort of put me back into collecting the title
  10. Wow! Nice copy. Nicer than mine for sure. Is it just me or are the super hero MLJ books getting harder to come across all the time? It would seem that they've been discovered by more collectors & that they're slowly evaporating from the market. Books that wouldn't sell 10 years ago, I can't even FIND now They've never been that easy to find, but Blue Ribbon and Top Notch used to be slow sellers. Not any more. VERY true!! I've had more luck finding Peps recently Here's one of the few I've picked up in the past few months. Sorry about the less-than-awesome picture quality, but I'm super sick & only had the energy to use my nearly 5 yr old phone. Still cool book though ...

  12. OH MY GOODNESS Have the inside front cover shot of this. Does that count.? WHOA!!!
  13. Great book and the More Fun isn't bad either! Thanks Jack
  14. Through my conversations with Yellow Kid, whom I had the pleasure of visiting again last week, I've come to realize how important a year 1935 was for Disney publications. Hal Horne invested a lot of his own money in the third Mickey Mouse Magazine with the support of Walt and Roy Disney and Kay Kaymen. A very deliberate decision must have been made, most likely to the credit of Kamen, to put more emphasis on and improve the quality of the children's books and magazines. On that background, I've earned new respect for this particular book, the first devoted to a key character, as it coincides with the exact time of a very important new direction that proved to be hugely important for Disney. The 1936 "Donald Duck" is really a handsome volume, and I think the transition between these two books marks a very important historical event. I've never liked the term "key issue" when talking about the history of comics as I see that process mostly as a slow evolution of trial and error iterations. Even books like Action 1 and Detective 27 were far from brilliant strokes of genius that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. In terms of Disney books, however, I think that this book, as part of a sweeping change that is reflected in publications from a brief window of time starting around the summer of 1935, marks a change of an importance that I had not fully appreciated until recently. It's still an evolutionary change, but it is about as close to a revolutionary one as I can think of. WOW, that's an awesome knowledge drop that I was completely unaware of!! Thank you so much for sharing that information!!
