9.2 here. Spine tics and edge wear, mainly on the bottom

That tear and staining on the back cover had me at 3.0.

4.0 as is, will press to 4.5. The tear on the back cover caps it.

As I was reviewing this, I was at a 6.5 before I saw that crease. There’s the spine hits, and lower right corner that is in addition to the long crease and the shorter one above it. If it were just the long crease, sure, I can go higher. I don’t believe that is the case here. I’m at 4.5 on this one.

The book appears very much to be in the "fine" minus range as opposed to the "good" plus range imho. Just some examples from a quick search on ebay...the grade is likely somewhere in between at around 5.5? enjoying the debate

Interesting, that crease doesn't bring it down that far for me. Still a solid 5.5 in my eyes, maybe even 6.0. Back cover looks really nice.
See the 2nd one by the code authority box? This book has been pressed well to conceal them. Some pictures of the back cover will show it better.

8.0 , clean will help this, but I think it’s 8.0 after c/p

I’ll go 3.0

4.5, everyone on this thread has missed the crease running from top mid to right edge. That crease firmly locks this grade in the 4s.

I count about 4-6 spine tics, bottom left corner, edge indention on the back top right, possible scatch in the back top right (saw in 1 pic, not another). Based on the count and the severity of the bottom left corner 9.2.

Minor staple stress with color-breaking creasing. Slight edge wear back cover bottom edge and lower left corner.
I'll rarely, if ever, grade above a 9.4 with pics alone, FYI. For one I don't really believe there's a difference between 9.6s and 9.8s. 9.4s are NM and I think that's where the grading scale should stop. Also, without a book in hand there's always something that could be missed, even with the best pics.
Completely agree on the ability to judge something better than 9.4 by pics. I was curious if you saw something else. The lower back left area is allowed in 9.8. It looks slightly worse as the phone software brightens the whites. The staple stress and everything would be in the production flaw. If it’s not, i’d give this a 9.2 myself.

9.4
Could be a 9.6 depending on how CGC treats the apparent manufacturer defects.
Thanks for posting.
Please list your flaws please.

Concurring, 5.5 with a production error

7.5, c/p
to 8.5
A rub is where the existing color has been rubbed off. You have ink or dirt on the paper, not a rub.

This is a 5.5 before considering the paint spot. Paint drops it to 3.5.
