  1. Congrats man! Beauty. Also, curious why you've hidden the CGC number on your slab in the pic. I've seen others do this before as well and always been curious why. Is making that number public something bad? I've never done that but maybe I should.
  2. Might be a high price but someone's willing to pay it. Wow! and I thought the starting bid way high. Congrats to the buyer and seller (mostly the seller) That is a crazy selling price...I can't believe it went that high. And it even had some minor damage to it.
  3. Might be a high price but someone's willing to pay it. Wow!
  4. I'd definitely avoid. I suppose a few look possibly legit but some of the signatures on the TMNT-Ghostbusters copies are horrid...I've never seen Peter sign that sloppy. And it seems fishy that they got Peter's signatures on very recent books like Batman-TMNT which, with Peter not going to shows, raises a big question about "how" these signatures were acquired. They'd pretty much have to camp out at Shellback and wait for Peter to show up unless they know him personally. Did you send the seller an email asking where Peter signed all these? Would be interesting to see what is said.
  5. What I have documented is that there were 250 copies with a sketch by Laird. However, I'm kinda fuzzy on how he distributed the Laird-sketched copies. I want to say it was either randomly to all buyers or possibly just to the first 250 copies bought. But I lean more to it being random because I bought at least 10 copies when these went on sale (pretty much on day one) and I didn't get a single sketched copy. Re: how often the sketched copies come up for sale, I can't say I've even seen one of those copies for sale.
  6. Heresy! Our 8.0 copies are GORGEOUS !!!
  7. Yeah, I saw the post and was pretty sad to hear it. It's actually the first place where I got to meet PL in person and that was only by a stroke of luck. I just happened to be there when PL dropped in...super-cool. But I'm glad I got to visit there twice though. You're right, this seems like the only public place where PL was a regular (whether FCBD or otherwise). Without it, might be hard-pressed to get a PL autograph ever again.
  8. 20K schmeckles. Annnnnnnd it looks like I'll continue to search through bargain bins to try my luck Me too, my man. Me too.
  9. Congrats on the sale man! Congrats as well to the new owner. This is one book I've sure always wanted but just is so far out of reach price-wise. This and the #4 Gold you snagged were truly EPIC finds....stuff of my Turtle-collecting dreams! There are still two copies out there somewhere unaccounted for (#5 & 10). Until they are located, I hold out hope that I'll come across one of them in some long-forgotten back-issue bin for $5.
  10. Just FYI - I saw a double-cover for Raphael before that I could almost guarantee that the seller had "created." The inside staples were bent upwards slightly and the trim around the edges of the top cover didn't match the trim on the inside cover. Additionally, the inside cover had minor scratches / wear on it...which is odd given that it should have been protected by the outer cover. Anyway, be wary on your search for doubles... there are shysters out there! Oh, and BTW, beautiful book !! 9.8 is hard to come by even without double cover. Never seen one for this issue but it sure is cool.
  11. To my knowledge, this virgin cover was only offered as part of the IDW Limited Sketch Card Pack which came inside a shiny green bubble envelope along with the sketch card. I don't recall seeing it available any other way. But IDW is pretty notorious for "exclusives" not being exclusive as advertised. Not having the original envelope and the sketch card will impact value a bit for someone really wanting it as it came originally. But I think these virgin covers of the 30th Anniversary Special are pretty rare so, from a pure cover collecting perspective, not having the card (or envelope) isn't a huge deal. Especially if you're just out to get all the variant covers of the issue. Card or not, the cover is the most important thing.
  12. Awesome find! I rarely find stuff that good in my old boxes.
  13. Nice pickup for sure. I think the proof is one of a kind. It was on my radar too but it's going to a good home so...congrats man.
  14. Yeah, very cool item. I would be up for the proof on its own as well. Maybe he'll split it if it doesn't sell. This is the first Silver proof I've seen. The Gold one would be awesome to have as well.
  15. Very cool ! Thanks for the update on FCBD...wish I could have made it this year.
  16. I remember the pies. They tasted good but looked...awful.
  17. I've never seen that before. Has a Norman Rockwell feel to it.
  18. ..."the big Sidekick." I hope that this sidekick doesn't read these forums or you'll be sleeping on "the big sofa."
  19. Some people pay a lot to collect counterfeits.... right? So what if I did do that.... And got it signed/slabbed by PL at FCBD as a counterfeit gold?? Would there be a market for that?!?!?! Well, if you're using a real Turtlemania Regular and just drawing on it then it would probably just get graded as a Regular Turtlemania and get marked down in grade for the coloring/ writing on it. Someone would probably still buy it just for Peter's sig. though.
