My shipment received Apr 3rd has still not been opened. I contacted customer support this afternoon and a very helpful representative opened a ticket for this shipment. Hopefully I'll know something in a couple of days.

Finally opened, received and SFG today.

So this is a new one for me.

    I sent in a batch of 25 moderns with a 9.8 prescreen.

All books shipped in Gemini Mailers within a shipping box lined with CGC's own honeycomb cardboard and deadspace filled with paper. Safely shipped I think.

The good news 23/25 books came back 9.8.

1 book was rejected but was mailed to me in let's just say, not the condition I sent it in.

I've attached photos of the book last in my position and the condition I received the book in. The top staple is completely detached and the bottom staple is hanging out by dear life.

Is this just a "Sorry, bad luck bro" situation, or does this fall into the mechanical error situation?

I have a video of me unboxing the batch if there's any doubt I damaged the book myself (lol).

From your before and after images, it appears the book was irreparably damaged either during shipment or at CGC. I think you'll need to contact CGC and request the declared value for your book.

My ME order arrived at CGC last Wed with "ME"'s all over.  Has apparently not been opened yet.  Texted CGC regarding this yesterday and had one of my poorer CS interactions with them.  Lots of problems...  :censored:

I sent an Unlimited Value package that was delivered yesterday and I did mark UV all over the package, let's see how long it takes to open this one up.

Is Vintage fast track moving along pretty good? I have to send in an GSXM #1 next week.

There must have been a huge mass of submissions from MegaCon. The boxes for my MODERN submission that arrived on Mon Apr 1 and an ME submission that arrived on Tues Apr 2 have not even been opened yet. A part of the delay on the ME is my fault though since I forgot to write ME on the box this time, so it looks like any other submission.

I also recently shipped a 1-book ME to CGC that arrived there Wed Apr 3rd, and it has also not been opened yet.  "ME"s everywhere on the box!!

My streak of no MEs has come to an end. Got a shipment back 2 days ago where four books have plastic shards trapped in between the case and the comic, and many slabs have all kinds of scuffing (you can see it in the scan below).

I contacted customer service and started an ME for the shards, and asked where the lines are currently drawn for scuffing. I know there were changes a while back, but have not had to return anything for scuffing since then so I dont know what current best practices are.

Hi @Stefan_W, sorry about your streak.  I've had to return books for scuffs for the last 18 months or so, and I haven't noticed any recent changes as far as scuffing standards.  The way I look at it is if I were to sell a slab and I have to explain/disclose the scuffing, it's too much.

Is this cause for concern yet? My High Value books have been pressed, graded and returned already while my Moderns that were in the same box have been counted but not even inputed or scheduled for pressing. I know things are slow around the holidays but I’m afraid my Moderns have been set to the side and need to get back on track. It’s been almost a month with no movement. Is this normal?

If you allow 2 days off for both Christmas and New Year's, you're just over the 15 day published turnaround time, and pressing apparently hasn't started.  It never hurts to call or email CGC customer service...

Dang, that's a lot of MEs. Lots of double digits. CGC should be ashamed.

I wonder if they are proud of their work?

@Gaard, if my math is any good, I believe that @GeeksAreMyPeeps has submitted 3 of his books 5 times in an attempt to get a good quality encapsulation.  I feel very confident that the last 7 books shipped back to me were submitted more than 5 times.  And 2 of them are on there way back...  :ohnoez:

I sent in a batch of 25 books in May. When I got them back, I had to send 10 back for ME. All of them had cracks in one side of the case, in the same spot, suggesting there was some sort of mechanical issue with their encapsulator that was perhaps applying too much pressure? All of these except one was an oversized book, with the thicker case. 40% failure rate on this submission.

When I got back the ME submission, 8 of those 10 had various issues, including different cracks, or debris encapsulated with the book. 80% failure rate on those books.

When I got back the second ME submission, 4 of the 8 had some severe scuffing on the case, and another was cracked. I usually let a little scuffing go, but these were 9.8 books, and the scuffing made it look like the book was damaged or dirty. 62.5% failure rate on those.

Just got back those 5. 3 of the 5 have plastic shards inside. One of those shard is more than an inch long. Not sure how you miss those. So those will be going back. 60% failure rate.

If the trend holds. I'll need to send 2 of the 3 books back again, and then 1 of those 2 the next time. Then I guess it's a coin flip whether that one has no issues.

@GeeksAreMyPeeps, my experience is similar to yours.  My 1st submission to CGC was in Mar 2021, and for the 1st year or so, the quality of the slabs was excellent.  Since the summer of 2022, there have been issues.  Lots of scuffing, newtons for a while.  I've attached my recent submissions.  Note they are all MEs, except for 1 reholder.  I have also been on a cycle of sending submitted slabs back to get problems fixed.  Hopefully the cycle ends soon.

  11. 7 Book Mechanical Error Submission.  I hope that by it going from QC back to SFG, they're correcting the case issues I have been having to return as MEs.  We'll see.

I'm trying to create a ME order from an ME submission I received back 12 days ago.  I'm entering the submission number + line item number, clicking the "Lockup Comic" button, and am getting the message ProIV is down to the left of the "Add Comic" button.  The "Add Comic" button stays disabled

@CGC Mike is this some type of system error?  TIA.

Whatever the issue was, it has been resolved.  I'm not longer getting this error.  Thanks @CGC Mike.

Hopefully, the fact this thread has slowed down means CGC is paying more attention to QC.

My 2 cents, I keep getting slabs back with spots/scuffs or small pieces of debris, and I get tired of posting about the same defects over and over again.
