And Tarzan is on the top of the food chain

yes.....1933 was a VERY key year for the developement of the modern comic book as we know it today.......
The great depression caused the price of comics to drop from 25 cents to 10 cents, and they split off into 2 different formats....comic magazines and Big Little Books. Pictured here are the keys from this evolution
The Big Little Book pictured was in this weeks Scoop....in case you did not see it and it intrigues you:

PS....try finding these puppies at your LCS!

Very nice Steve
Thanks...and a belated welcome to the Boards!
The 3 HUMOR books that you see here were sold last week for $18,000 to one of the Countires top Platinum Age collectors.(private sale). The only other known set is in the Geppi Musuem.
The Mickey Mouse BLB will be buried with me when the time comes
Steve

this is my only contribution, but I do love those Early Adventures with Sandman and Starman
gator
Well that is one hell of a contribution
Whats the grade on it?
hello all...
it appears pretty darn nice ... Matt nelson is replacing a piece on the back cover, so let's call it a soon to be apparent fn/vf...I initially committed to it "unrestored" (with piece out of back cover ,but the front presenting so nice) and wanted the seller to send to Matt or CGC to check for trimming....they found a spine split sealed that the owner was unaware of...so, since it had some minor resto already, I asked Matt to fill the piece in on the back cover, and touch up a little here and there...already looks great, now will look even better!
thanks
rick
Well good luck with the resto...im sure Matt will do a great job...make sure to post scans after you get it back

I feel I got a pretty good deal on it.....I hope when I send it to CGC it comes back blue. You never know with ebay.
Its kinda funny I was just going back through the new adventure/adventure thread and noticed that you had just got those three books as well. What are the odds on that?
-
My pleasure....I love these early flessel covers too much to let this thread die off!!!
-
Pretty jacked about these two books which I think I picked up at a great price.
Nice Sub Mariner.....Great Cover!!!!

I listed this book in the "have a cigar" thread and then nothing.......it was like I posted a low grade restored Classics Illustrated. Let's try this again here.........
This Tec 44 is from an OO collection, and is a VF unrestored with off-white to white pages. This book in this condition is not exactly growing on trees
Steve
Sweet 44 Steve!...and since you got little recognition in the other thread

Another issue that required searching. I needed a cover in nice shape so I can frame it on my office wall. As many of you likely know, Charles Moulton (a/k/a William Marston), the creator of WW, was also the "father" of the modern day lie detector device. I've spent several years challenging the federal government's pre-employment polygraph program because it is based on as much fiction as our darling WW.
Interestingly, other than the cover and the introduction to one of the stories featuring a similar image, there is no mention of the lie detector device in the entire book!
I couldn't agree with you more on the polygraph....awesome cover too....not to mention if a polygraph can't even work on wonder women herself how can it work on government employees

Welcome! I just turned 33, so it's not just the "old guys" that collect GA.
I know I know....no disrespect.....

I like this particular book very much (picked up from Ed Jaster long ago) - has all the attributes of a nice Larson (though it's not) and a simply terrific Guardineer cover:
STEVE
Stunning book Steve. Just like the rest of your magnificent collection, a portion of which you were kind enough to let me ogle in person a couple of weeks ago. I've never seen so many white-paged beauties.
I’m just getting started with my adventure comic’s collection and at 22 I am a little intimidated looking at all these beautiful books..... At the same time though its a real inspiration to see that such great collections. I hope the younger generations don't get too obsessed with the silver age and still have love for the glory of the golden age....I know I do Thanks for posting all the awesome scans...keep them coming guys!!!!!

Show me your Timely's and I'll show you mine. Have a Cigar...
