Tentative grades chosen but not yet submitted. On a side note, the governor of Oklahoma just ordered all non-essential businesses to close for the next 3 weeks, starting at midnight tomorrow, in those counties which have positive coronavirus cases. I admin the Oklahoma Comic Book Collecting Facebook group and just encouraged local shops to use our group to run comic sales and auctions during this downtime.

@01TheDude.....congrats on advancing as far as you did. This is by far the furthest I've ever made it.

So now that we're down to 3 players, exactly how does this work? Do I play against Warlord then the winner of that plays Azkaban? Or do all 3 of us play and the overall winner is the one with the most points this round?

I'm willing to split these up into 2 prizes if it means an additional contestant gets a prize. I'll leave it to your discretion.

I saw the same thing. Graded it 9.4 because of that. 2 bullseyes saved my butt. And wow. I'm the highest seed left at a 3-seed.

My comic collecting buddy Mike Forrester (flatrock02 in here, who passed away 5-6 years ago) encouraged me to join the chat boards in 2006 and I finally joined in 2007. I started collecting comics again in early 2002 and met Mike at an auction in northern Illinois. At first I knew nothing about grading comics and learned the hard way. I remember selling some ASM comics in here early on and was quickly notified by the buyer (Annihilus) that the Marvel value stamp was missing in a few of them. I gave him a full refund but definitely knew to look for them in the future. And Mike was the one who impressed on me how much spine ticks diminished the overall grade. Over the past 18 years, I've tightened my grading at least 3 times. About 4-5 years ago, I felt I was finally close to CGC on their grading scale. And 6-7 years ago I became a CGC Member Dealer. So no matter how new you are to the hobby, with time and a willingness to learn anyone can become an accurate grader.

Not to diminish what you just said, I would say anybody making it this far in the contest is a very good grader.

Grades are in. Feel pretty good about the first 3 books. If I don't advance it will be because of that double cover X-Men.

I currently have this book on consignment from an owner in the Oklahoma City area. This is a 1-owner book that his father purchased for him back in the early 1960s. I just submitted it to CGC last week and it was returned to the owner this past Monday. It has NOT been pressed. Asking right at 12-month GPA for this grail at $25,999 shipped with whatever method you prefer to use. No trades. I would have to inquire with the owner about the possibility of time payments. Serious inquiries only.

My guesses were exactly like yours Tom except I graded the ASM 9.2. Identical otherwise.

Well, let's help fix that. I'll donate a 2nd prize in addition to the Human Torch slabs. I have an extra copy of this great book - The Classic Era of American Comics. 230 pages worth of great reading and just like a Playboy magazine, great pics as well.

I saw 2 short tears along the top edge of the back cover and thin tanning lines along the top and bottom edges of the back cover.

Since the refs were detained in travel and couldn't make it in time for the game, does someone in the stands want to officiate this thing?

Grades are in. Tough, tough round. Only grade I stuck with was the Eternals. Changed the other 3 multiple times.

Just received this back from CGC last month. Was hoping for a 9.6 but happy with a 9.4.
