  1. Three 4-drawer lateral file cabinets Two 2-drawer lateral file cabinets Four 5-drawer standard file cabinets Seven 4-drawer standard file cabinets One 2-drawer standard file cabinet 12 CGC boxes 14 Magazine boxes 80-85 long comic boxes 50 short comic boxes I either need to downsize or buy more lateral file cabinets. Downsizing is the preferred method right now.
  2. Thank god I used to be an engineer. Organization just comes naturally to me. I can usually find any comic (out of about 70,000) in a matter of minutes.
  3. Just the opposite for me. Guy placed a craigslist ad earlier in the week for an estate sale advertising some comics. So I contacted him saying I was pretty much broke at the moment but if he had anything left after the sale I might pick up something in a couple of weeks. The ad showed some Bronze Age stuff in decent shape. The sale was yesterday so I e-mailed him last night to see how he had done. Said he hadn't sold any comics at all. Ends up the sale was going on again today from 10-2 so I ran over just to take a look. It's no wonder the guy hadn't sold any. He said he doesn't know anything about comics so he priced everything off of eBay. Of course, he didn't take into consideration condition. He had books priced like they were NM when in fact they were in Good to Very Good condition. He had a Man From U.N.C.L.E that was in about Good condition priced at $50.00. He does have a decent (Fine-ish) copy of Conan #1 but has it priced at $500. I'm going to educate him on what it's really worth and make him an offer on it. I also told him I'd be willing to help him price the comics so that they WILL sell - all at no charge to him. And no, I have no interest in any of the other comics he has left. I paid him $5.00 today for a FN/VF copy of Midnight Tales #1 but that's all I bought.
  4. It's like the price went from $2-3 to $20-30 because of the movie announcement I presume. Time to dig out all those copies I've bought the last couple of years.
  5. Since they're so annoying to you go ahead and ship all of them to me.
  6. I think everyone *knows* that, because there were enough of us around at the time. I think the question is how might one prove it to those who weren't and might doubt that. Obviously every current reference says that, but I don't remember a whole lot of press at the time announcing reprints and showing the new cover logo. There will be ordering literature lying around somewhere for the book that says what it is. There will also be other contemporaneous literature (price guide reports, CBG articles, etc.) that mentions it. It's not necessary to rely on memories alone. What isn't as well known is the SILVER logo cover............
  7. Absolutely...it's just weird when I got home and looked inside at the indica and it didn't say second printing at all. I initially had to look on the internet and make sure I bought the right one. Jim When I scanned my copy this morning I checked the indicia and found that mine didn't say it was a second either. But I remember the logo change from when this book came out originally and we were buying copies off the rack. Then just to play devils advocate, just for fun...is it really a second print??? Or say perhaps like an X-Men #317 (first Blink) where there is the silver foil strip edition and the red edition. I'm sure it's the second print, just wondering out loud how we know for a fact? Can't argue with you there. If I didn't know it from when the books were originally released, there would be no way to tell. They could be considered to be cover or logo variants of the first print. Grand Comics Database shows it as the 2nd printing but that doesn't necessarily mean it's correct. But it probably is.
  8. I would not leave the books there. They will eventually fade, just not as quickly as if the glass didn't have any UV protection. All types of light will eventually lead to fading; emphasis is always on UV only because its the most damaging. BTW some great looking books! We see a lot of comic rooms and collections on these boards, such as the 'Have to got a comic room' thread, is it pretty much a case that everyone has their books in a room with no windows? Not necessarily. The majority of my main Marvel collection is in my office that has a window but they're all stored in lateral file cabinets completely shielded from the sunlight.
  9. I corrected my post. It was 8 covers though. (thumbs u
  10. Actually, someone posted a scan on the boards of a CGC graded octuple (8) cover comic.
  11. I must just be lucky then. I've managed to obtain 30 to 40 double cover comics over the past 12 years and I've found about 75% of them in collections I've purchased. Some have even been single comic eBay purchases where the seller never mentioned the comic was a double cover. And I got my ASM #129 CGC 9.6 double cover out of a 2 long box collection of Spideys I bought from a local guy. Pure dumb luck I guess.
  12. You have to pay to get grader's notes. I know, but CGC's website says that there are no notes available. I don't even have the option to buy them. I can see this with a 9.8 as there is not much to note. However, I would think an 8.0 would warrant notes to explain how they arrived at this grade. Absolutely. I'd give them a call and ask about that particular book. Sounds like an explanation is definitely warranted. Looks beautiful to me.
  13. You have to pay to get grader's notes.
  14. Ask if he's shipped my books, next time you talk to him.
  15. Hey guys and gals...I'm running a promotion in my eBay store from now until October 15th. Buy 4 raw comics (at the BIN price OR a best offer price) and get the 5th comic for FREE! I'm adding more comics every day so keep coming back to take a look at what's new. Shark's eBay Store Slabs are not included in this sale.
  16. Yeah, I've known Mark to be nothing but upstanding on these boards. But if what TomHamilton says is the truth, Mark has no one to blame but himself - new job or not.
  17. I agree for the most part. I'm pretty selective with the ones I get since there are so many. It's both a blessing (due to the great artwork) and a curse (due to the amount made -- especially with Marvel's current method of pimping out #1s with a minimum of 4 variants). Some are the price of a classic key, which is ridiculous. But that just my I am still blown away by the prices Greg Horn was getting for his slabbed Gamestop variants with his and Lee's sig and a quick sketch. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-1-CGC-9-8-GAME-STOP-SIGNED-SKETCHED-BY-GREG-HORN-STAN-LEE-NR-/321443785853?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item4ad78aec7d&nma=true&si=LAPHHcRad1Kp%252BtuMrQDJVRkWXow%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Death-of-Wolverine-1-CGC-9-8-REMARKED-edition-GAMESTOP-variant-by-GREG-HORN-/361033466606?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item540f4582ee&nma=true&si=LAPHHcRad1Kp%252BtuMrQDJVRkWXow%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 just wow... Greg Horn's Spidey head looks a hell of a lot better than Stan's though.
  18. I am hereby officially nominating BetterRunCharles for the Probation List for failure to follow through on the purchase of a Fantastic Four #48 CGC 5.5 Signature Series signed by Stan Lee. He originally contacted me through PM on Aug. 6th with an offer for it. I notified him on Aug. 7th that my customer had agreed to his offer price (he read that PM). The agreement was that he was supposed to mail a money order to my customer but my customer never received the money order. I sent BetterRunCharles another PM on Aug. 18th asking why the money order hadn't been sent yet. He has not read that PM nor responded to it in any way. I just sent him a separate PM notifying him that he was being nominated for the Probation List. So when will the Probation List be updated?
  19. Cool. You usually get more money at shows than on ebay for certain books but thats really impressive you were able to unload so many copies. It's impressive that he HAD that many copies.
