Only because there have been so many of these battles over the years.
However, in the beginning, when the Thing had not met the Hulk, all Marvel readers were BEGGING for a confrontation between these two.
Back then the strongest Marvel heroes were few and far between, being The Thing, The Hulk, Thor & the Sub-mariner. That was the top four. Period.
So Marvel fans have always speculated on who would win in a battle if they fought. That is why all the books featuring these early battles are so expensive also.
FF #12, FF #25, & 26 and JIM #112. Later on Marvel introduced many super-strong powerful heroes and villains, but in the early days it was only these four.
I think this is one of those "you had to be there" moments to fully appreciate these stories as we did in 1962-65.
By the way, the battle between the Hulk & Thing in FF25 & 26 tops FF #12 in my opinion.

By the way, the colors to me really stand out if the covers are predominately one color, such as the White, Black, or Red cover books. The Purplish/Blueish covers are fantastic too...such as FF25,39, & ASM 7, 11, 15, or 17 for example.

What’s it about this Twin Cities collection? The white pages?
I don't have too many, as stated they are/were pricey, especially when they came to market. However, the ones I do have are outstanding in color gloss, brightness, freshness
and page quality. I have the ASM 23 and I have never seen a brighter White cover example. I highly recommend them.
Same feelings here. I love the Twin Cities books.
Even in the lower graded examples, the colors just "pop out", and the page quality is usually excellent thoughout the entire collection.

Since threads are useless without pics and I won't have any HDs ones until tomorrow, here's a recent pick up to tide everyone over. Few people know that REH also wrotea few naughty stories for the Spicies under the pen name "Sam Walser." These pulps are tough to come by and rarely come up for sale:
SAS is my favorite pulp. I love the covers on ALL of these, and I didn't know that Walser was a pen name for REH. Nice looking copy too.... (thumbs u

Damn!! Theres a 9.9 ASM 19 ?!?
According to gpa, it went for 29k in February, 2009. I actually thought it would have been a little higher but that must be an INSANE book!
Would anyone happen to have a scan of that puppy?

Can't believe I'm just now stumbling upon this thread. I'm a huge Spidey fan, and have been trying to collect the entire run for a few years now.
I currently have every issue of Amazing Spider-Man from #17-689. Also have #5, 6, 8, 12, 13 & 15. So I'm only missing 10 issues from having the entire run. This doesn't include Amazing Fantasy #15, which I'm saving for last...if ever. In regards to the Annuals I have #1, 16-the most recent one.
Most of my early issues range from Good to Fine. I try to get Silver Age issues with no writing on the cover, no tears and no pages missing. Date stamps are okay, but I'm pretty picky when it comes to what I buy.
I have a few of my favorite covers CGC'd

Joe, where is that from?
This is from FP 2/5. It's from one of the great text story pages they had near the centerfolds...Guardineer did a ton of these great illustrations in the early Centaurs.

I've always loved this one, don't know if it's considered cheating since it is a splash page...

Fantastic copy. This copy presents so well.
Hard to find a copy with the whites shown here...

I picked up this one up recently (a month or two ago), and I've never seen anyone post a copy.
The Griffin on the cover reminds me of the recent Blue Bolt #105 that was posted in the "Classic covers" thread a few days ago. So I dug it out and scanned it.
edit: One of the things I like about this cover is that the logo is not black highlighted like all the other Adventure logos.

Reposted first showing of the Arrow pretty rare Funny Pages v2 #10
That's an under-rated book if there ever was one....Nice copy too...
-
Wow!!! I didn't know that. (thumbs u
Thanks for the insight Scrooge....
-
So why then don't more Marvel collectors go after these instead of Captain America, Daredevil and Wolverine? That's what I can't understand.
Because no one in these books are wearing long underwear....
-
I agree that they are under-priced too...not enough data as there are with other publishers out there...
Without a sales history, books become under-valued...
