This particular person, at least, seems to be collecting ASM 194 in every CGC grade. He's only missing the very low grades which he could arguably "make" himself, and a 9.2/9.4/9.9/10 I've heard of people doing this before actually... You would need a Key Book to do it too since it needs a lot of slabbed books across a whole range of grades.

I DO notice that when I'm rifling through a long box of Silver Surfers... I can pull these out instantly by seeing the merest sliver of their top cover. (They have a distinctive green background. )

Yellowish Green and Magenta are complementary colors. They probably went with that as that was probably the design theory at the time. The Red in the title and Green also go together. (Color theory has greatly changed since then.)

In case the actual item wasn't identified, I wouldn't dump anything of unknown origin into the wild. You could originate an infestation that could start wiping out the local fauna and threaten local crops / the environment that would be hard to contain.

Found this in the back side of an X-Men #1. Kind of a blast from the past. There was a tour…

This seems to be a problem with Killing Jokes. You really can't read it and expect to get a 9.8 or higher as opening the cover too far will cause very definable creases in the cover usually. I can imagine how a grader would have to very carefully count the pages, (if they even bother to count the pages on an obviously complete/unread Killing Joke), or basically not even be able to open the comic very far to grade it.

The simplest answer is probably usually the correct one. They introduced an unknown factor (custom labels) into their process that caused a bottleneck in an area that used to be much more accurate (encapsulation). Coupled with hiring a number of new encapsulation teams who probably aren't the same quality of comic collectors as the original teams, and who may view the encapsulation process and label printing process (without the requisite historical, comic book knowledge) as more of an assembly-line type factory job, you have the result of more human errors. People who aren't comic collectors won't tend to take care of or handle comic books the same way as a collector will if it's only their job. They just need time to get up to speed. (Which, of course, isn't of much use to the paying users.)

I'm the tiniest of sellers on eBay (a speck...a mote...) so I probably don't get as big a discount as the previous posters but fees/shipping account for 18.7% of my Total Sales. (I only ship Priority and have only sold slabs so far.) Some of these other options sound pretty good actually... (And a lot less work.)

So this seems to be the problem. DST Root CA X3 Expiration (September 2021) - Let's Encrypt (letsencrypt.org) DST Root CA X3 will expire on September 30, 2021. That means those older devices that don’t trust ISRG Root X1 will start getting certificate warnings when visiting sites that use Let’s Encrypt certificates. (Basically, for people who read the above and just see gibberish... They weren't hacked. The SSL Authority/Let's Encrypt expired one of their Root Certificates which is causing problems down the chain for browsers that still use it for authentication... like Safari/iOS and Android devices.) There are a couple of quick fixes that the ISP can implement, or the user can really just change SSL certificates. (They do still need to fix their links though.)

True. The expiration date says it should be valid but it clearly says expired or not installed correctly. Both Edge and Chrome on the desktop accept it as valid, but Apple must have higher standards.

They generally need to fix their website. A lot of the browser companies have recently (not that recently) instituted measures where they will no longer accept websites that are not encrypted by default. (This is where the warnings come in.) Generally, at the backend, you would just redirect all http:// requests to https:// and be done with it with all relative links. In this case, they seem to have a mixture of hardcoded links in their template which have both. Probably simple enough to fix... The underlying issue with most sites these days is that they were designed before responsive design was the most important design consideration, and before mobile devices were on the verge (if not already) of being the #1 platform for viewing for their particular niche. It may be that comic buyers still use the desktop for most of their buying, but I would hazard that for sites like GPA, CGC, eBay, or any other data driven site (Census, registry, etc.), buyers at conventions, or users just at a convenient break point in their work day, would most likely check out the boards or their DMs via their mobile device.

Actually, I see the problem... It's for people on mobile devices (Apple for me). Seems to work fine on the desktop for certain browsers that will overlook the errors. The website has a mix of hard-coded https:// and http:// paths. The http:// paths will spawn errors now in some browsers and will be ignored/left off the page. (This is why some of the graphics don't appear in some browsers.) (All paths on the website should be made relative.) ======== Most browsers display a security warning when a secure https: web page includes http: content. In IE8 and Firefox 23 onwards, the default option is not to display the http:// content. To fix this: use relative URL paths ../images/file.png; or full URL paths /images/file.png; or absolute https URLs https://example.com/images/file.png.

They have a valid 3-month SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt. This is a free certificate service provided by some ISPs. Some browsers are just defaulting to the non-secure http:// address and not automatically redirecting over to https:// I'd clear the browser history or just explicitly type in https://www.wwcomics.com

It's true that a raw comic can be thought to be undergraded or possibly improved. That comparison seems to be only from Heritage though and from different years. (The comparison is probable still valid though although possibly an outlier.) The Showcase comparison show a tighter time range. The same Showcase in 5.0 sold for $489 in April-2021 and $483 in March 2021 from MyComicShop according to GPA, considerably higher than the realized Heritage prices.

He doesn't have the name recognition or experience/reputation to garner the raw pricing. Maybe MyComicshop could do it for him since they have the eBay rep. That's why people slab in the first place. An example that seems to be coming up a lot these days is X-Men #4 (1991). Raw, you see people paying around $30 or so for a hit or miss high grade copy. It still GPAs for 90-Day for over $250. Even at $50 that's 5X. (Of course, if you can't get a 9.8, there's no point in slabbing it.)

Lots of good advice here. Some of the books on your list are what I would term "in a window of opportunity" where they are currently "hot" due to external factors (rumor, movie news, future appearances, re-appearances in the current comic universe, etc.). Others aren't as time sensitive and will always tend to be in demand. (Spider-Mans) It also sounds like you want to sell some comics initially to finance the rest of the sale. That being said, I'd probably identify the currently hot books (keys) and see which books could benefit from a press. Then find someone local or online who can press them for you who doesn't have a huge backlog since you're somewhat time sensitive it seems. MyComicShop seems like they can do the rest for you. All you would have to do is do the research and set the prices. (A GPAnalysis Account, GoCollect.com account possibly, latest Overstreet Guide, even a Key Collector account, etc. will help with that.)
