So, I'm dipping my toes into the world of Golden Age books after years of collecting Bronze and the occasional Silver. Mainly Action Comics and Superman. In looking for a copy of Superman 24 to call my own, Ive noticed that a number of the books I've come across have "moderate foxing to cover" in the grader's notes.

Just wondering how much of a deal breaker foxing is for you serious Golden Age collectors? I'm able to avoid foxing completely in my Bronze collecting endeavors, and my understanding is that foxing is unpredictable and can worsen over time when already present.

Is the presence of foxing reason enough on its own to avoid a book, or is it just a reality of mid-to-low grade Golden Age collecting?

Loved it. Managed to be really true to the opening of the game, while tweaking things ever so slightly to make things fit a prestige TV format. I already like Pascal much better as Joel than I expected. Sundays should be fun the next couple of months.

Neither book should be cleaned or pressed - they're not in good enough condition to benefit from the process in any way, and would likely disintegrate regardless.

The first book I would guess at 0.5, the second 1.0 - but I admittedly don't have a tonne of experience in this grade range.

Re-attaching the staple will get you a purple label.

At first glance with the lower resolution pics, 7.5 seemed a little on the low side to me - I'd have pegged it in the 8.0-8.5 range. Seeing the higher resolution photo, I think 7.5 is just about right. Like others have said, black covers are tough. Batman 227, Superman 199, Action Comics 108 - they've all been tough books for me to find in good shape over the years due to those darn black covers. This book is no different. Nice copy nonetheless!

As a diehard Superman fan, I could never understand how the old school Marvel collectors could tell me that Superman wasn't cool enough for newer collectors in one breath, while talking up their old FF issues in the next! 

Mark my words, a new, paid grievance process is coming from CGC to coincide with the release of the book. Rather than cracking and resubmitting your book in the hopes it gets a different grade, you will now be able to fill out a form, using the principles outlined in the Grading Guide, and submit a list of arguments for why your book deserves a higher grade. This service will, of course, come at a premium.
