  1. On/Off topic; I don't know why Paypal was being avoided, but if it was only about the fees, why doesn't a buyer offer to pay the fees?

I don't know what upper limits Paypal may have. I would gladly pay with Paypal to insure a transaction, if I was willing to pay the extra 3+% in fees.

Paypal should have that as another method, fees charged to the sender. I can do math anyway; pay the intended total, and immediately send the fees amount as a personal payment(you are paying the owed fees(not buying something)).

It's a shame to see transactions go sideways like that, I hope people learn from it though.

Love the background of this pic. There's a table of comics, a solid briefcase and what looks like a hired goon.

    That's how Stan rolls.

Or someone from NYComics in the background at their private signing ;)

    That was a fun night!

Hi you goon, you took great care of my AF15 as I recall.

  3. Here is mine

Nice book. Really nice. Its yours and you can do anything you want to it. Damn though, some books shouldnt be signed :(. But honestly, great book.

I figure that is THE BOOK to have him sign. I wanted to do it right when I met him. 1zwlmvm.jpg

Excellent picture, and the book. Congratulations on meeting Stan and getting your book done the way you wanted it.

I like a signature on the few most significant books the author would be known for, but preferably not on the rarest high grade copies of it. So if there are 500 9.8 copies of ASM 300, go for it and have McFarland sign it. I just ask people to not get signatures on the one or few copies that exist of any book, leave those available to be owned later, by someone who doesn't want it done that way. Also don't get it signed just to sell it, let people have their own books done. Think of the books and collectors first, not the money. Regards,

  4. Hey all!

Just picked up a couple Maggie Thompson books from Heritage and thought I'd share them with y'all:

    Thanks for looking!

    Dan

AWESOME Dan! Was drooling over many of these in the catalogue... :cloud9:

Sweet books Dan. I love looking at all of those early issues. Take good care of those.

  5. Shew...did everyone see that AF15 9.0 went for 191k on Heritage Auctions? Oh my!

Is that where it ended, wow, nice. http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7087&lotNo=91077&lotIdNo=70001&domain=all

I should wait for the next 9.0 to sell in an auction like that, and put mine in there with it. That's about the best way to draw attention to a restored copy, show it to a big audience along with a blue label copy.

  6. Front cover looks like a 8.0/8.5 but books was hammered down because of a tape stain on back which I can live with. Very happy with this copy

Tremendous eye appeal. Congrats on a great book !

That copy has amazing eye appeal for a 6.5. Congrats!!

    Sweet, congrats!

  7. Thanks, nice to be here.

Harvey: My sig line should return on the 28th when my bandwidth reboots...if the pics do not appear then I will replace them from tinypic. My problem was putting up too many pics in the Gold forum @ 1MB ea. and my cheap attitude toward purchasing bandwidth... lol

They got me too in 2010 when one of my sales threads overloaded them. I change to Image Shack and they provide more bandwidth per month. Is tinypic any better than Image Shack?

  8. ... once you get the image link, I usually just store them elsewhere like in a PM to myself or Word Doc. (thumbs u ...

That is an excellent idea. Wow, we can make easy to find lists of links that we use from time to time. It's a pain to sift through various folders of pictures, or the hosting sites, and each time pull out a link.

  9. Thanks Justin, PhotoBucket did something screwy when they altered their site recently. I've had a tough time getting images to display on some forums, both from there and Image Shack. I have not had time to look at any old postings of pictures of mine.

That tinypic is a new hosting site? Is it any better than the other big sites? I have many of my books on both of the two I use.

My 9.0 AF15 is still displaying in the original thread, the page number listed in the list is wrong though. I first put it up on page 287 before having it signed. I posted it later on page 302 after being signed by Stan Lee.
