Price drop on Star Wars #42 to $175
Now onto the Star Wars "run"
Star Wars #10
Yesterday this was a gorgeous 9.4 copy and was arguably cleanable and pressable to a 9.6 or maybe even a 9.8 - now it is sadly a Very Fine- 7.5 due to lax wine drinking policy in our office..
However, the wine was from quite possibly the last bottle in existence of a Long Island 2008 Kontokosta Blum Merlot which, according to one review, was an "Excellent LI merlot, earthy and dry with just a touch of acidity." and according to another review, tasted like "Blackberry, black pepper, hint of green unripe coffee bean on the back. Would be good with BBQ or roasted meat. French Oak, weekday wine."
Well, at least we drank it during a weekday.

so how did you go about contacting Spain? If I was Spain i would not trust the mail with such a historical item but send someone over to pick it up.
I actually called a couple Spanish film organizations and surprisingly they didn't write back - maybe due to my poor english (I think I might have been saying to them - "Hello! My name is David and I have original very small chick peas" in which case, I would have hung up too in disgust ..
Anyway, I finally reached a woman named Marian and I think she could tell in my voice I had something so she asked me to write her an email (even getting her email address correct took some time due to accents, etc..
This is what I wrote to her
"Good afternoon. My name is David Bull and I first apologize I do not speak Spanish. I live in New York and I am writing as I recently purchased a collection of film and, in that collection, are many many reels of film of and related to Garbancito de la Mancha. I believe these films are old (some are nitrate_) and I also believe there are some reels which were used in the production of the film (unused audio etc) but I am not an expert. I am writing because I believe these may be culturally and historically important to Spain and perhaps Portugal, which many of these cases are labeled with.
Here is a drop box with some of the photos of the film https://www.dropbox.com/sh/e291ob4gbvf1bnm/AAD-KdWjmaEofcSV-5lBH3F7a?dl=0I would love to speak to someone regarding this film, as I feel it belongs in Spain - or at least with a Spanish partner in the United States who can properly store and “restore” the film. I have read online that this film is scarce - and that there are no good copies of it. Perhaps this will solve that problem!I would love to speak to someone - my phone number is XXXXXBest regardsDavid Bull"They actually WERE going to fly over - the top guy in their department and her - but then they remembered someone who used to work for them in Madrid now worked at Cineric in NYC - http://cineric.com so we realized the easiest solution would be to just drive them to him to inspect the collection. -
yes some wear pajamas all day and old tshirts with holes in them

Again... sigh...
"YOU" were not looking for this. He is right though that people interested in animation find this interesting. He understood the history of what he had and decided not to try and sell it for a mass profit because it was part of the cultural history of Spain. He says, "In the end the thought of holding a countries history and culture hostage for $ had me feeling slightly nauseated." Finding a nation's first full length animated film is akin to if the original reels for Disney's Snow White had become lost. He felt, as Indiana Jones would say, "That belongs in a museum."
Furthermore, he makes mention of the incredible event of finding half of one obscure item in one place and then stumbling across the other half at a later point. The odds of that happening are incredible. It would be like finding half the pages of the original art for Tec 27 at a garage sale in 2020 and then finding the second half at another garage sale, at another location in 2021.
Does this make sense now?
Now the original art for Tec 27 I would have sold 😂😂😂

I know haha - In the end the thought of holding a countries history and culture hostage for $ had me feeling slightly nauseated .... I charged them pretty much what I had into it (plus having to store nitrate film in our barn isn’t exactly safe)
