  1. Since I no longer have Bone #1 (thanks docgo!), the only thing I've got to show off in this thread is the sketch a buddy of mine got for me (T-Bone was my nickname back then...which fit, considering the subject of the sketch). He got Jeff's wife's business card too, which is kinda cool.

I like it anyhow! I really should probably get this thing framed.

  2. I may be posting more books tomorrow after my 1 thread drops off the first page, just wanted to let everyone know. After the self appointed forum cop "david" decided to slap my hand i have to wait a while. I will keep buying from the 15 or so people on the boards that I buy from and hope that everyone continues to buy from me. If I did anything to affend anyone here then I am sorry . Everyone have a great night, I'll sit here watching whats for sale with my tale between my legs.lol

You're not offending anyone, it's just the forum rules. No big deal, just put all your for sale books in one thread and close the other ones (shrug)

Divad's not the only 'forum cop', everyone watches out to make sure everyone abides by the guidelines. The few rules we DO have keep the place running a lot smoother than it has any right to IMO.

  3. Ok, let's try this again in the right thread this time :insane:

Thanks to pinball for the ASM #5 and deamentia for several great SA (and a couple bronze) Spideys....packaged extremely well.

Special thanks to both for holding these books while Annihilus was looking for a place to live in AZ.

Big thumbs up to both of you! (thumbs u

  6. A bunch of overdue kudos to the following folks:

    abracadabra for a couple ST's & Thors

Doctor Watson for the X-Men Marvel Masterworks

sckao for the FF DVD (really cool!) and Warrior Magazine (thanks for the freebies!)

Mikeyriffhard for more ST's & Avengers Annual

ShieldAgent for a couple Subbys & a TTA

In every case, top notch packaging and spot-on grading....excellent transactions all around.

Sorry if Annihilus missed anyone....between moving and going to Columbus, OH on a business trip, it's been pretty hectic.

  7. Big ups to abracadabra for some nice SA Marvels and cd4evah for some nice BA stuff.

Plus extra kudos to John for probably setting the record for holding a book for someone: like 6 months or something retarded like that. (It's Annihilus that's retarded, not John). The Hulk/Thing battle was well worth the wait!

    Thanks guys!

  8. Once again, we're not talking about what price the seller is asking, but the tactic (quoting GPA price alongside) he or she is using to PROMOTE their raw book sales.

It's not a difficult concept to grasp, but it seems to be eluding many people on here.

No, it's not eluding people (at least not me). As a buyer, GPA is only one of many criteria one can use to determine a price (either the buyer or the seller).

It's kind of like someone using the price of a used car listed in the Kelly Blue Book for a car that's been totalled in an accident. Just because you quote the price listed in the KBB, the buyer can tell by looking at the car that the price is not applicable to that certain car.

At least, that's how I see it. I know I'm not confused if someone lists GPA for a book that is not slabbed. Maybe some are, I apologize if that's the case.

  9. Providing the buyer has enough details to make an informed decision and wants the book badly enough, it doesn't really matter where the price comes from does it?

I'll remember this statement when I'm selling raw books, and quoting CGC prices from Comics Price Guide - http://www.comicspriceguide.com/.

    lollollol

    Exactly.

It's got nothing to do with where the price comes from....it's got to do with the person buying the book and what they're willing to pay for it. It's the seller's responsibility to provide:

    1. Accurate description of the book

    2. The price he wants to sell it for

You can get the price from wherever you want....if someone is willing to pay for it, that's not the sellers fault. Different buyers will use different criteria for what they are willing to pay. Some are comfortable with using GPA for raw, some aren't.

It's really got not much at all to do with where the seller is getting his/her selling price from, IMO. If the price is too high, the book won't sell.

  10. At any time a seller can quote GPA prices and try to get GPA prices on his books. Shoot, the seller can ask triple GPA if he wants, but it doesn't mean that he's going to get it. If you trust that seller's grading, then you may consider buying books at GPA/near GPA/over GPA prices. As a buyer, if you want a book bad enough, you pay the price. If you think asking GPA prices for raw books is insane, then just don't buy and move along. Quite simple, actually.

Gotta go with you here. Providing the buyer has enough details to make an informed decision and wants the book badly enough, it doesn't really matter where the price comes from does it?
