  1. I posted this in the showcase thread but it's even more relevant here:
  2. A buddy here on the boards passed this not to me - this should be interesting http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=577356
  3. It's not the affluence of the buyers, it's the influence of Marvel. Before Marvel, kids would read their DC, grow up and forget about them, life called. Marvel was more influential, the characters had real personalities, kids grew up but never forgot about the characters.DC kids liked their comic books but Marvel kids loved them. I must be the exception then - as I loved the characters and still I do. That`s cool, but can you drop 6 figures on one of your beloved DCs? Of course there are people who are passionate about DCs, but how many of them have the kind of coin to make 6-figure DC books as common as 6-figure Marvel books? You would be amazed by how many very wealthy Marvel collectors there are. Given time, things can change. The movies and TV of today is being viewed by the millionaires and billionaires of tomorrow - and Warner has quite a lot of plans for both forms of media. That combined with the fact there are tons and tons of high-grade Marvel books - it takes zero effort to amass a great set if you're willing to pay. It could be interesting if the demand for DC SA keys continues to build as these kids start getting older and earning money, and want a slice of their past. The fact that supply is so mush less, we could see some big books come out of the closets (if they're really out there like some say they are) that find ready cash to scoop them up. I might be wrong, but I might be right. And it doesn't help Marvel that their key properties - Spider-Man and FF - are not even under their control. Comics really are are just the petrie-dishes where ideas are born these days, new talents coming onto the radar and concepts for big media. That's drivIng the values these days - not the actual comics as much as the media. Heck, hardly anybody today has read the stories inside the SA books in the slabs. In a few years, no one buying comics or movie tickets will remember reading Marvel books as a kid. - that's my
  4. Holy cow, that's one impressive run you have there! And those grades are amazing. You did that pretty fast If I recall correctly. Very admirable
  5. Really? Seriously Jay, I would have loved to pick up your early SA mid-grade Flash's you had for sale. I'm just over extended at this time and had to stop buying for now. PM me your address. (thumbs u

  8. Could it be that Marvel's have peaked and are going to start to recede as DC's rise, to the effect they close the gap? Also, I find it hard to believe rich guys only read Marvels.
  9. Maybe it's the beautiful (putrid) condition of the back cover that makes up for the missing wraps. I still can't get over the fact that ComicLink is calling this a 4.0 copy with 2 missing wraps, grime all over the back cover and a big hunk of the cover missing as well. Whatever they're smoking over there ar CC/Metro - I'm sure it's rolled in Benjamin's Yeah, I was on vacay the day they were all posing for the cover. Such a shame Sufferin' Sappho, the 1st all-girl cover in the series (I think those cherubs are boys on #3)

  11. I cannot use your link, what was the price ?? I do need a showcase #11 ! My next objective is to get a challengers issue. Unfortunately, I must wait and save a lot. I spent to much bidding on Heritage for Don/Maggie books. I am off-budget now... $210 I bid on it, but I just bought one for a lot more and didn't need it. Methinks somebody got a gift.
  12. Now who needs a Showcase #11? http://www.ebay.com/mbf/BidsOffers?MyEbay&gbh=1 that was a STEAL
  13. Your set has a higher average grade overall, than mine does. To be honest, the 7.0 fits better in my set then my 9.0 does.
  14. C'mon Sam, you weren't going to put a 7.0 Showcase 37 between a 9.0 and a 9.4, 9.0, 9.2 were you? That just wouldn't be natural
  15. I snagged another copy of my favorite blue cover, and count them, there are many, viola: I was complaining about the possibility of color touch removal in another thread, still it's a nice book regardless of if it is or not, and it's a 7.0 as well.
  16. That's great there Sam! Keep it going!
  17. Easy to deal with, courteous, paid promptly, welcome to the boards
  18. Maybe, however a book I had for sale in the marketplace had recessed staples too, but it's holding firm. So you never know it might hold up.
  19. It's a great color strike, nice and clean. But I think I'll stick with my shabby ole' 6.0. Is it just me though, but what's going on with that bottom staple?
  20. So many different Captain Marvel likes - so little web space. ADDED! You might as well go original, if you're going that way. Here's my book to that archive image Wowser - or more aptly, SHA-ZAM - that's a beaut
  21. How does a book with 2 missing wraps get a 4.0 in ComicConnects mind? http://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=527443 That's quite a stretch
