  1. I changed the name of the thread and added Metro to the sticker-shame list after I discovered this I haven't really bought many slabbed books from Metropolis in a while. I forgot they stickered the slabs too. I'm home from work today, nursing a sinus problem - so I did a little experiment and used olive oil and used WD-40 only as I couldn't find the can of Goof-Off. But if the either of these hadn't worked I would have found it. The olive-oil didn't budge the label, just made it oily. The WD-40 dissolved the glue and the label lifted cleanly with virtual no residue. Some day I'd like to test the Goof-Off if I can find the can. I'm sure I have other books with labels. Here's some more photos of the experiment: Olive Oil applied: Olive Oil not doing much after a few minutes After a few more minutes After trying for a while, I cleaned off the oil and this is what I had: Next: WD-40 WD-40 Making very good progress after about 5 minutes. WD-40 Comes clean off, with only a little residue left over. WD-40 After another little squirt I polished off all the remaining residue and oil and book is clean and shiny.
  2. I'll have to try that. Trying this right now - on a Metro sticker no less. I didn't realize they also did it.
  3. Don't get me wrong, great books pass through comiclink and they attract stuff from the best collections and dealers I'm sure. It's not the books I'm complaining about, it's the stickers. Sure they need a serious update on their website - but who doesn't. I'm not trying to bash them - just this one little peeve that apparently some others seem to share. I bet even those who've said the stickers don't bother them would choose no sticker if given a choice.
  4. Hey, different strokes. I don't like them on my slabs - and as I demonstrated in the original post neither do buyers of my books. If nothing else, I find it kinda ballsy of ComicLink to feel they can mark their territory on every book that passes through them. I mean what else did they do but pack and ship somebody else's books, and pocket a percentage of the sale. They didn't find the book. I just think they should get removable stickers if they're going to continue doing it, so those of us who don't love them on the back of our CGC slabs can remove them easily. I don't think that's too big a deal to ask. Do they post on this forum, have they nothing to say when their customers are obviously here?
  5. They won't. Also they won't show the back covers. Much more, they won't update their website. They are simply stubborn. I wonder how much of the scans shown is dependent on what the seller gives them to use? In the case of the book I bought, it had huge front and back cover scans, and a nice pre cgc scan of the interior pages before grading. But I agree about updating their website, that will never happen. . . . nor will book sales ever appear on GPA I talked the reps from GPA once. Clink is not partnered with GPA. I know - that's what I'm saying, the sales don't get reported there.

  7. Not to mention that my list of Sales Pending has books that were sold years ago
  8. Lighter fluid and comics They make high-quality stickers that hold firm and release cleanly when carefully removed. I shouldn't have to subject a slab to cleaning with solvents if all Comiclink has to do is get better stickers or just stop doing it. It's simple
  9. I was hoping someone would post a raw copy, but in the meantime, for comparison - here's a newsstand copy.
  10. I sold a book a while back and at the last minute I realized it had the dreaded sticker on the back. I figure, easy does it It'll come right off. It instantly began to shred no matter how careful I was and left behind a pulpy-film cemented to the plastic. I don't remember what I used - it may have been goof-off or rubber cement thinner to try to dissolve the glue. I ended up getting most of it off, no thanks to the solvents, I had to basically roll the paper-glue crud into balls and use clear tape to suck it off the plastic. The solvent left the plastic dull with a matt finish and I was lucky, in a mylar you really couldn't see the damage to the slab. But that's the point - it can damage slabs. Buy better-quality labels or stop putting that crud on the books. Please. PS. I no longer attempt to remove them, I am so spooked by that experience. But I may try some of the methods suggested here on some low-value books that have been stickered (thumbs u
  11. Here is yet another message from an eBay customer who got a CGC slab with one of your stickers on the back: " . . . . comic book arrived ok and i gave you 5 star feedback, just thought you should know that i hate the label on the back of the comic it took me ten minutes to remove the glue on the back of the label . . . " I completely agree - these stickers are permanent and they have ruined slabs that I've attempted to remove them from. I know why you put them on the slabs, but can you please stop it - or use removable labels like Heritage

  19. Well, maybe you're being a little generous in your assessment Let's just say, I'm a works-in-progress along those lines. But thank you so very much for that kind compliment. It's made my day Bob
  20. Another comic I once have dreamed to have ! In fact, I just saved money from 2012 to 2013 to buy one (last 6.0 sale in 2012 was around $6000 I think). Well, I had to wait a little more than one year before seeing a nice one for sale again. A this time, a 5.0 was sold $9000 and the 6.0 was sold around $12 000. So long my SC#4... Well, with the spare money I bought SC#13, #17, #30, #76, an Extra #1 and I upgraded my Kamandi #1. Some people around here will tell me that I should have bought a lower grade SC#4 but I am not an investor and only a happy collector. By any chance is your extra #1 a 5.0 or better? Sam - do you have a list of what you need posted anywhere?
  21. There's no point doing this unless it makes you happy. Collect within your means, that's the recipe for happiness.
