  1. I'm soooooo jealous of anyone who is at SDCC! How much buzz could we really expect 2 years or more ahead of any film appearances and it's already jacked up in value. Let's give credit to the fact it's already appreciated significantly on just speculation they will make a film. Even the confirmation of their intention to make a film is not a firm guarantee it's gonna happen. Give it time it'll get there
  2. I doubt they'd let an opportunity to build fan anticipation at such a prestigious event slip by - they have to give us something! I want to see that "historic" photo of the trinity at the very least. I mean they talked about it enough. Cough it up WB!
  3. I got a response from "Nicole" - she said the following: "Sorry I missed the previous thread final discussion/decision/conversation. I will put on the FULL SET request on order received...today, since it really isn't an expansion request. Showcase 1-61 and 62-104. Thanks, Nicole" So I guess it's going to happen
  4. Nice indeed. I don't think I've ever seen such a well-defined purple background - the graduation is lost on my copy.
  5. Some more fuel for the fires . . . Episode 8 - coincidence? Andrew Kreisberg Talks ARROW/THE FLASH Crossover And How JUSTICE LEAGUE Impacts Them "When Felicity is in Episode 4 of The Flash, it will be Wentworth Miller’s first episode as Captain Cold," "And then, both Episode 8 of Arrow and The Flash will be a two-part cross-over. Not to toot our own horns, but I think we’ve designed it in a way that, if you’re not watching The Flash, you can just enjoy it from the Arrow perspective, where these crazy Flash people show up for an episode, and vice versa. We don’t want to be brazen and assume that everybody is watching both shows. Hopefully, they will be. I think it’s one of those things where, if you’re not watching both shows, whichever show you’re watching, it will all make sense to you. But at the same time, if you are watching both shows, you’re really gonna get a fun, cool two-night event." "There really aren’t that many characters that we’ve asked to use, that we haven’t gotten access to. Fortunately for us, with Arrow, we were able to bring on Deathstroke and The Huntress, and this year we have Katana. It was actually DC comics’ idea for us to use Ray Palmer/The Atom. On The Flash, with Geoff Johns, our partner, we’ve carved out this whole world of characters that we have access to. There are the big ones that fit into the Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman mythos, but since we’re not using those characters, they’re subsidiary characters don’t really feel necessary to us. We never feel like we’re confined. We’re more impressed that we get to play with as many characters as we do. By the end of this season, on both shows, we’ll have Green Arrow, Black Canary, Katana, The Atom, Firestorm and The Flash. If you’ve got Green Arrow and The Flash, why would you want Batman and Superman around? I think we’ve figured out how to do those characters really well. There’s something very distancing about Superman and Batman that I think works so well in the features, but that I’m not sure would necessarily lend themselves to a weekly series. We’re very happy with the characters that we have."
  6. Ditto what Sam said! I've been reading DC archives of the showcases and the foreword about issue 4 is very telling. They simply needed something to fill the next issue of showcase and someone threw out the idea of bringing back the Flash - and some poo-pooed the idea - but they decided to give it a whirl, on a lark, and inadvertent sparked the resurgence of superheros. The stories are very basic and almost seem like outlines for the more complicated origins that have been weaved into these rudimentary scripts. But as I was reading them - with their little bits of science here and there ( the editors notes were my favorites!) I can recall how my imagination filled the gaps in writing, powered by infantinos brilliant interpretation of speed - and created this world of wonder where anything was possible. No wonder a pudgy science nerd would fall in love with a character who was both smart and athletic without working out? Almost forgot my point - get these editions if you can't open the books and read them. In fact get them even if you can - the paper is so much nicer than newsprint - and you get the foreword which is cool - AND all the covers, titles, writers and artists credits - and decent printing quality to boot - they didn't "airbrush" this - its the original colors as far as I can tell. That's all folks!
  7. Let's hope a GL re-boot is in the cards with all the announcements being made.
  8. That 2 hour cross-over show is insanely cool. I hoped they would do something like this.
  9. Technically, Joey is ranked #1 . The #1 set is obscured, hence it no longer gets an 'official' rank and Joey moves up to #1. In any case, it is quite the accomplishment. Joey's set is very robust and nearly complete with a highlight of #4 in an 8.5 ! I feel so guilty he sold me his #11 - I told him to replace it with another from his vault but I guess he hasn't had time (or another copy). Indeed that #4 is STOUT CONGRATS JOEY . . . and to you Sam, a strong second (thumbs u
  10. That's a real tough book for sure. I'm sure there's one out there with your name on it (hopefully in pencil) . I just posted in the official requests thread where I probably should have posted before. Take a look - I think I make a good point about the 1-60's being tough Silver Age set vs the Bronze and Copper issues that follow (is that the right age?) - and how some folks only focus on the post 60 books.
  11. Our very own club member Joey (roulette44) is now shown as #2 in the registry rankings, and I think maybe Sam I am might be right behind him at #3, even though the list shows him at #4 (I think they haven't deducted points for books no longer in the current #3 set). Great work on a very hard set guys!
  12. I posted this in the Arrow thread, but it's fair to post a link here as well since the Flash show was sort of birthed from this show. http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Guests/Entertainment-Guests/?qu=Stephen-Amell&campaignid=61833756&iusercampaignid=82939958

  14. here's the rest . . . . Barry’s latest obsession is a cutting edge particle accelerator, created by visionary physicist Harrison Wells and his STAR Labs team, who claim that this invention will bring about unimaginable advancements in power and medicine. However, something goes horribly wrong during the public unveiling, and when the devastating explosion causes a freak storm, many lives are lost and Barry is struck by lightning. After nine months in a coma, Barry awakens to find his life has changed once again – the accident has given him the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Barry has always had the heart of a hero and now he has the legs to match, but he quickly learns that being a superhero is not as easy as it seems -- and he can’t do it alone. While Barry struggles to understand his new abilities, the people around him also have to adjust to a new reality. Joe West, Barry’s surrogate father, is coming to grips with the fact that the world of the extraordinary actually does exist. Joe thought he understood what it meant to chase criminals, but now he’s facing opponents who can do more than just rob a bank, they can control the weather. Though he knows this remarkable turn of events is Barry’s destiny, every time Barry faces danger, Joe is terrified for his surrogate son. While Joe worries about Barry, Barry worries about Joe’s daughter Iris, and how his new life as The Flash will change their relationship. Iris and Barry grew up together, and she has always believed in Barry’s conviction that unknown forces were at work the night his mother was killed. Barry has kept his romantic feelings for Iris hidden, and now feels he must protect her by keeping his new identity a secret as well. And Iris has a secret of her own -- she has been dating her father’s partner, Detective Eddie Thawne, who is such a good guy, even Barry finds it hard to hate him. Still, there is tension between Barry and Thawne, who is jealous of Iris’ newfound fascination with The Flash and is determined to unmask him. Barry realizes that keeping the secret of his new identity separates him from Iris, even as her growing obsession with uncovering the truth brings her ever closer to The Flash. Barry has found another kind of surrogate family in the team at Harrison Wells’ S.T.A.R. Labs. Wells himself is quickly becoming a second father figure to Barry, who learned about morality and justice from Joe, and is now learning about science and technology from Wells. Wells’ ultimate agenda remains somewhat mysterious, but Barry is excited by the grander worldview that has been opened for him, and the friendship he’s building with S.T.A.R. lab team members Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon. For Caitlin, who lost her fiancé in the catastrophic explosion, working with Barry is providing a much- needed sense of purpose and a way to deal with her grief. Caitlin’s excitement at seeing Barry learn to use his new power is balanced by her growing concern for his safety – she and Cisco have both learned that accidents have devastating consequences. Cisco was a close friend of Caitlin’s fiancé and secretly blames himself for the tragedy. A mechanical genius who comes up with amazing gadgets that help Barry control his speed, Cisco is happy to suddenly have a new project –- and a new friend –- in Barry. While he struggles to combine these two very different groups of people into a crime-fighting unit, Barry is still excited every day by his newfound powers. He is also shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” created in the wake of the accelerator explosion – and not everyone is using the new powers for good. In the months since the accident, the city has seen a sharp increase in missing people, unexplained deaths and other strange phenomena. Barry now has a renewed purpose – using his gift of speed to protect the innocent, while never giving up on his quest to solve his mother’s murder and clear his father’s name. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash. 15. There's no issue granted, but 20 hours to respond is a tad long IMHO but a take it isn't sonething to ignore either. Noobies . . .
  16. Wonderful I would dream to have only 4 issues to complete a 1-61 run ! I understand when you talked about missing a 16... it is very scarce. Didn't see much 28 either, and I always been outbid for this one. Maybe you will try the 54 Don/Maggie on HA soon ? Seems to be a very nice book ! Hmmm, maybe I will
  17. That'd be fine too No one has responded in the actual Registry Thread, but I assume during summertime things slow down for everyone, and eventually something will happen. I put some books into my set yesterday, it was fun to fill the holes that've been vacant for so long. #11, 12,15, 20, 21, 27, 34, 43, 55. I only need 4 for the 1-61 set. That's impressive. What are the four still missing? 16, 28, 29 & 54 I actually had gotten a #54 but I discovered a stain on the cover and returned it to Metro.
