  1. fair enough, and i 100% agree with the DD#1 reference, if you got it hold it !
  2. I'm not sure about this ever exponential increasing value of 181 that everyone is talking about .... I made a decision to sell my 181, but I was good with it because I felt that my analysis was that 1) it had gone up an INSANE amount since I bought it in 2009 (it was a Universal 9.2) --- that is not debatable --- and 2) when I sold it a couple years ago it hadn't really moved upwards very much in a while, and looking now in 2020 compared to 2018 it still hasn't really moved. Am I missing something ? Of course it will go up naturally over time, I assume, but doesn't it look like it has actually plateaued a bit for a while now ....
  3. I have some Looney Tunes DVD's from over a decade ago and Whoopie Goldberg is on there warning about how the times were different back then and to take that into account when watching the cartoons ..... that's the way to do it, don't censor them !!!
  4. And you say your friend Chris was funny --- I think it would be a hoot to hang with you, insane comics and art, AND a comedian
  5. Yes, and it's this "emotional value" that must continue through generations - somehow- to keep this hobby going strong into the future. And that emotion must translate to owning the physical copy of something. Here is a somewhat-related example of why I just might have hope for the current youth and maybe (hopefully) their progeny: I have quite an extensive music collection of LP's , cassette tapes, and CD's (yes, I am 50-ish). The other day, in a Facebook group of like-minded tastes in music, I simply stacked 9 cassette tapes and took a picture and posted. In 3 days, I had 1000+ likes and tons of comments, such as "what I wouldn't do to own that cassette tape of X", and "wow, I didn't think that album even existed in tape form", etc. etc. I was actually floored !! , because that was the ONLY choice I had, say in 1991, to get that music, just so not a big deal to me. I now have that same music (plus 9000 + more songs) on my little thing I'm holding in my hand now, and 20 year-olds are drooling at what it would be like to own such relics. Crazy. So, I do have hope.
  6. twin cities -- have spoke to them recently and it's a whole bunch of things like his age, pandemic, etc....just taking forever is all
  7. Anyone else waiting forever for their book(s) to be signed ?
  8. Doesn’t hurt to ask ... he’s pretty chill
  9. I lost out in the Fall CLink auction, but it came up again last month on Heritage and no way I was gonna miss out a second time 🤟
  10. I don't agree - I think it's a great comparison. What is being said is that Action#1 "transcends" any popularity of the player/character/story etc. that is contained within such collectible. That book, that card, has now come to represent something much bigger than any pure like or dislike of the character/player/etc. It now has a special "aura" around it that may never go away. i think the Mona Lisa is similar - whether you think it's a fantastic piece of art or not (I am in the "not" camp), it transcends art - I could give examples of thousands of pieces of art I "love" way more than the Mona Lisa, but they will never be more valuable than the Grail of all art. My 2 cents
  11. who woulda' thought back decades ago that the bottom little corner off is worth a ding of mucho $$$$$
  12. I have always had a great experience with CLink and with Josh
  13. I think you are one lucky member of the AF#15 Club !! I think the grade by CGC is spot on (from just looking at the cover and PQ), and you should have no problem having this valued at the top end of the going rate for a 3.0
  14. Just mark your original customs invoice clearly when sending to CGC that you are sending "books that are being graded and being returned to sender" - there will be no extra customs or taxes coming back to you
  15. I'd take my $1000 and buy a nice page or some nice pages of original art of my favourite character. Or you could get an awesome sketch done on a ASM#1, #800, Action #1000, or some other blank variant cover by well-known artists for a couple hundred dollars . But that's me.
