  1. I sent the Marvel Classic Collectible book to CGC for the McFarlane signing in January - the one that has ASM#300 cover on front and #301 on back chromium foil -- and I requested front AND back be signed by Todd, but he didn't do the back and CGC's answer when I "complained" was that he had so many to do that they were not taking "special requests". Sucks cause I would have paid him twice to sign it twice, but now I'll have to wait for another Todd signing in the future and then they'll have to de-slab, sign, on to CGC, slabbed, re-graded, and much $$$ I will have to pay (again).......but I think it will be a very unique book if/when I get the chance to complete it.
  2. I haven't come across any artist/creator that doesn't have the form themselves. I don't think you have to worry about it, but communicate with the person or middleman themselves and find out for sure how they handle it..
  3. I had Ron Frenz do an original art piece on a blank variant cover, and he also signed it - then he told me he sends it directly to CGC on my behalf and it will get the SS designation. The artists apparently have a special form that CGC gives them, and CGC knows when it comes directly from the artist. I pay for all shipping and CGC fees of course. Hope that helps, but speak with the artist or middle man you are dealing with to be sure.
  4. I would say a Marvel book with a Stan Lee signature and CGC'd as a SS book, would command way more than his end of life $150 he was charging....look across all GPA and it's definitely worth more. I personally would go the auction route because there still are many who want a Stan sig but can only buy one now. That my 2 cents.
  5. He certainly "Manned Up" , as one has been quoted many times on here saying . Damn !!
  6. one and only Dentist post .... this post is a GA collectible!
  7. I agree - big ticket, like say, 4 figures and upwards
  8. I have to say, you do have a bit of a valid point here, notwithstanding that many on here don't like the guy. There can be a "vibe", as you say, sometimes on the GA boards that likes to pick apart big books for sale, even CGC'd ones, arguing for lower grades and prices for some reason. Sometimes it's valid for clearly over-inflated asks, but sometimes it's not IMO. I think it's just part of being on such a site as the Boards with all kinds (collectors vs. dealers, sellers vs. buyers), and you have to navigate and educate yourself accordingly. At the end of the day, it is THE most informative place to learn about GA, and I learn here every day even after being here for over 10 years...... I still consider myself a rookie compared to the big boys like Gator (THE best for sure )
  9. I gotta say I've always liked dealing with Josh and he's always given me really good service with regards to any requests or needs, but I have to say the back-cover scan thing does need to be fixed on big-ticket books.
  10. War covers personally, and I’m fairly sure from a collectible/financial perspective they are always in demand
  11. I need this !!! I want all of the small digest ones, that is my collecting goal for now so hard to find and so expensive though
  12. I bought two of these for my slabbed Superman GA and I like them alot
  13. I have avoided any necessity for comparison and just collected both Batman and Superman 1-20
  14. ...I do also have the original art for the whole Shock Gibson story from that #14
  15. That's what I'm talking about, yes!! Keep the love coming! I know what you mean - I want to add (many) to my one book, but I'm looking for a bit lower $$ as well...
  16. Why do I love the covers and the stories so much? Anyone else with me ? And post what you have please - I especially love the small digest run here is mine:
  17. Action #1 is iconic as THE book, not necessarily a book that only a Superman fan must have but a book that any comic book collector would give a body part to own.
  18. My collection is priceless to me, so I don't see a huge affect on me and GA collecting. I'm not selling, and I'm not going to be a shark looking for "insane" deals (but I'll still peruse around just in case there is something I just can't say No to). All this will pass eventually and most collectors will just "resume" their passions and interests when the World resumes normal living. Financial corrections will probably be long-lasting overall, but history shows constant ebbs and flows, GA market no different. Try to stay positive friends as much as you can
