  1. This was exactly my sentiments. But it is possible the OP did not know they were stolen until now as they were in a storage facility. Were there other books in the box that was stolen? Who is the C'Link consignor? The books originally sold on Heritage back in Aug/Sep of 2019. Was the OP the buyer then? I feel a mixture of...
  2. You might want to check out the current ComicLink auction.
  3. I am quickly finding that some of the more interesting books are Gerber fours or fives. Oh well, I will keep this exercise going for a few weeks. Because a couple of posts are about the "horse", here is a Gerber 7...
  4. In keeping with the thread title, I am going to post Gerber 6 or higher books. This should make for an interesting exercise. This one is a Gerber 6...
  5. I bought two slabs from CC. Quick delivery and very good packaging. I would buy from him again.
  6. These two came back from CGC a couple of weeks ago. I am very happy with the grades.
  7. I am making a mental note to give you a call before the next big convention.
  8. Yeah, these selfish crybabies demanding their "rights"! If this was 1850, these selfish crybabies wanting their freedom. Didn't they realize the southern economy was more important. If this was 1942, these selfish crybabies not wanting to go the internment camps. Didn't they realize the country's safety was more important. Today, we have these crybaby dealers complaining about conventions being cancelled. And we have low wage workers complaining that mass transit is running on a Sunday schedule. And we have nail salons and hair cut places afraid to open for fear of getting fined. And we have restaurant owners complaining about all the added regulations they have to follow, just to seat people outside. I don't want to die to get sick. My safety is more important than their "rights", right? But I do wonder when the California Governor mandated a shutdown back in March, why was his restaurant and winery allowed to continue to operate? I guess for him, those two were essential businesses. At least essential to him. But back in March, it's OK if I hoard toilet paper and pet food. I'm not part of the problem. I'm not a selfish crybaby demanding my "rights". I'm just looking out for number one.
  9. OK, this happened in 2005. The wife and I were at the San Diego convention for Preview night, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The hotel we stayed at was packed and filled with noisy Con goers, so I got very little sleep throughout the convention. Sunday morning, I was dead tired and we were waiting for a table at Cafe 222 to eat breakfast. I was so tired that I was sitting down and I had my eyes closed. I felt a light tap on the side of my face -- sort of a light tap as to wake me up. I opened my eyes and Bob Storms and Ted VanLiew are standing over me. They had just finished breakfast and were walking out. Both of them are in a good mood and I introduce them to my wife (and vice versa). We talk a little about the great books and art inside the dealer's room. Just then, I thought I heard my name being called for a table. I excuse myself, head over to the hostess area and check to see if my name was called. It was. I head back, say my goodbye's to Bob and Ted, and my wife and I are led to our table for a delicious breakfast. Fast forward about seven years. My wife tells me about a short conversation she had with Bob and Ted at SDCC 2005 at Cafe 222 when I momentarily left to check with the hostess. Both Bob and Ted commented that my wife is real. Wife replies, "what do you mean I'm real". They said most comic collectors say they have a wife or a girl friend, but that is usually just "talk", because they are "comic book" collectors. My wife pointed out that I wear a wedding ring. Bob and Ted replied, "that doesn't mean anything. How difficult is it to buy a dummy ring"? My wife had to muster all the energy she had to keep from laughing, as I was walking back to the group. When she finally told me years later, she was still trying hard not to laugh. I thought it was funny. Not laughing down funny. But funny. But what struck me was I had always thought I was somewhat normal and everyone else was dorky and nerdy. I guess I learned that day that I am dorky and nerdy too. I think I am going to flip through a golden age comic book now.
  10. Later tonight I will revisit an incident that happened at SDCC 2005 with two well known dealers.
  11. I am really bummed out about SDCC 2020 being cancelled. I also have a strong opinion on the whole pandemic, but I will save that for another time and forum. Instead, I found these pics from 2105. I had fun seeing them, so here they are!
  12. Just received this e-mail: Dear TorpedoCon Attendees, We are postponing TorpedoCon 2020 due to the persistent rise of COVID-19. Our Company and Staff have taken all the facts into consideration and after many discussions, at present, it is not worth risking the health of our Attendees, Exhibitors and Staff. It saddens us greatly to have to postpone this convention, however we feel it is a necessary decision to help keep all of you safe and in good health. We care about you. We care about your health and safety. That will always come first. All tickets from TorpedoCon 2020 will be automatically refunded! No action is needed on your part. We hope to have new dates to reschedule TorpedoCon 2020 as soon as possible. Sincerely, TorpedoCon2020
  13. Just checked my e-mail, and Ted is trying to make the show, but it doesn't look good. I would consider Superworld to be a "no".
