  1. You're slipping quickly into tool territory. I didn't try to hate on something. I was agreeing with people who said it kind of defeats the purpose of the all black cover. You're a simpleton if you can't understand how an entire country can take ownership of national events like 9/11, Pearl Harbor, Hurricane Katrina. As for my location, it's a song lyric. Google is your friend.
  2. You said the best way to pay respect to this issue was to get it signed and sketched. My point was the issue is not what deserves the respect of not getting sketched, it's what the black cover represents on that issue that deserves some respect. I said it's a weak argument because you imply that only NY'ers personally impacted have any right to lay claim to 9/11. I'm pretty sure the rest of America considers it an attack against them and this country. Plenty of people, who don't live in NY or didn't have a personal connection to victims, would disagree with the idea that we don't have any right to upset by the desecration of that memory. Not that I would equate the book to desecration. In fact, it's not high on my radar as it's only a funnybook and I felt like arguing a little. I was just joining in with sentiments expressed by others. I remember that book above and didn't like it either. I just didn't feel motivated enough to comment at the time. Each to his own.
  3. Or maybe you're just justifying it to yourself and others. Or maybe you just think of it as a great black cover sketch book, I don't know. Maybe I'm too simple to understand the higher level thinking here. As for this: I'm not sure it's the issue that needs respect. This is just weak.
  4. I'm sure the victims of 9/11 wouldn't mind having a tribute issue sketched to show a Spidey-Skrull. Dude. It's quadruple signed and sketched! What better way to remember?
  5. Yep. I meant 1935. I ALWAYS say 1937 for some reason.
  6. Nice copy of the 1937 linen book. It just never gets enough credit for being the first Donald comic. Course the fact that it's gigantic and linen backed doesn't help. Sold my copy last year that had rusty staples.
  7. I don't have these yet nor have I read them. (thumbs u
  8. They're nicer in hand. Those are not good scans.
  9. My latest arrivals from CGC. US 4, 5, & 9. Grades 8.5, 8.5 & 9.2 respectively. The #9 is tied for top census.
  10. My latest arrivals from CGC. US 4, 5, & 9. Grades 8.5, 8.5 & 9.2 respectively. The #9 is tied for top census.
  11. After reading this BZ, I am beginning to think that there were a number of cartoonists and comic book artists from St. Louis.
  12. I'm going to try to get everyone I've dealt with recently but I'm sorry if I forget someone: WrightsonFan for a quirky slab. skynwalker for the biggest ncb crease with the biggest grade impact frederick9494 for some nice copper books Park and Subliminal for buying my war books.
  13. I'm selling a Modern Comics #47 and a Jimmy Olsen #56 right now in the FS forum. Thanks. I always welcome pricing or other advice on books like these where I don't see them often.
  14. Seriously folks. Why bother? Couldn't we solicit Arch to just ban some of the egregious, hall of famer, clearly scamming offenders? It's not like somebody who signed up just to scam is ever coming back under this screen name anyway.
  15. I agree with this part. (thumbs u I PM'd October and told him he could share the following but the I decided I should do it myself. I forgot Old Man was on the probation list and sold him some books at the start of April. No excuses, I just didn't check the list. What's more I should've remembered because I told him last year, after he was added to the list after I had sold him some books, that I wouldn't sell to him again unless he made right by October. That was about 6 months ago. I won't go into the particulars except to say that OM stated that he couldn't make it right as October had sold the books in question. I advised that he apologize and that was the last I heard. Like I said, no excuses. Think I'll turn in my forum police badge for a little while. Nor do I think I'm in any position to comment on what Divad did today. I apologized to October and I'm apologizing to the boards for selling to Old Man, even if it was unintentional. Maybe I'm just a tiny person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed?
  16. I made the following post in a member's thread. I'd like to hear what others have to say about auctions rather than fixed price listings: So where do we start with the auction guidelines? Does it have to be a fixed amount of time or can the seller ends when they feel like it? Must it start out a minimum price? Can there be reserves? Do all "bids" need to be placed in the thread or can the seller say that they had a PM bid that trumps yours? Auctions, in general, would be little more than "make me an offer" sales. Of course I recognize that trmoore has been here a long time. I certainly don't impute a bad motive to him. I've seen people run reverse auctions here that don't seem to violate the stated price rule. I.e., start at $100 and any person can but at that price. Dropped to $90, $80, etc. But frankly I also expect long time members to be more cognizant of the rules. Not that this one was/is very clear. I'm not willing to go with the maxim that long timers are given the right to not follow the rules b/c we know their hearts are in the right place.
  17. Some results on the Ducks in the Comiclink auction. One caveat. Due to a lack of time and energy on my part, I have not captured all of the Ducks auctioned at Comiclink this month. But I thought these were interesting. FC 386 CGC 7.5 sold for $801. Last GPA was in '05 for $600. Given that the 7.0 File Copy sold in Feb 08 for $1912 and an 8.0 sold in Nov 07 for $1015, this seems a very reasonable price. FC 108 CGC 6.5 sold for $375. Three GPA sales in the last 6 months were 395, 450 and 388. The FC 159 was PGX 7.0 and sold for $325. Assuming the grade is right and there's no restoration, the last GPA was Feb 08 for $388 and the 12 month avg is $329.
  18. Agreed. And I'll take the light shadow on the 108 anyday in such a sharp 6.5.
  19. Kudos to Wrightson Fan for nice slab and pennynike1 for a beauty Mile High. Special kudos to r1970d for holding a book for a long time and making a friend of mine happy. Kudos also to Monstro Susanville for quick payments.
  20. Fixed. (thumbs u This is funny in a completely ironic way. How about "characters" ?
