  1. Assuming it slabbed by CGC? If so, you may want to consider a subscription to GPA for Comics. It has the world's largest CGC pricing database - here is the http://comics.gpanalysis.com/default.asp The price you mentioned for the auction is the only recorded sale this year in that condition. No other really recent data of nearby grades. That sale was January, 2017 so that is a pretty good increase if you're talking about the price of $650. After about six months from $400 to $650 seems like a ton of an increase for a book that has 48 universal copies on the CGC census.
  2. That is a beautamous book. Absolute stunner of a toughie. Wish I could add it to my Chest of Cheslers but my Chest of Cash is empty.

  4. I don't know of anyone that honors a PGX book let alone one with a signature.
  5. I know where one doesn't exist and probably never will... my collection my grail.
  6. Agree with Squeggs. Why not make the deal to have the book graded and if it comes back as per the agreed terms or within reasonable range on grading, you pay the CGC costs. Heck I would even offer to pay a percentage of the cost if it comes back with unexpected results or at worst, a reprint just for the peace of mind and save me a tubload of hassle in addition to the $12K cost.
  7. This has probably been posted before. I have collected the Uncle Sam covers of Nationals and USQ and completed those some time back and started recently paying more attention to more Quality titles. I picked up this Police Comics not too long ago - Kind of similar don't you think? The USQ is by Ruben Moreira according to GCD and the Police by Reed Crandall. I actually thought the USQ was Crandall considering he did many of the US covers from that time period. This makes me wonder if Crandall did have a hand a hand in the cover or if it is him or it just may a coincidence. Regardless, I found it interesting.

  10. You're missing my point, Claudio. I did not say I do not understand it - I just can't fathom it, utterly senseless - not in my genetic makeup.
  11. Not a comic but I saw this recently on an auction site. I still cannot fathom why bigotry and racism exists and how items such as this were ever produced and today have a collectible market. Sorry if my post shares too much emotion.
  12. Not necessarily of particular to anyone else but I have always wanted to attend SDCC even now as it has migrated to so much more entertainment. In 1978, when I was a starting high school, my dad went to San Diego for his naval reserves two week active duty. I begged him to go to the convention and buy me a copy of Avengers #93 as I needed that book for my collection. He said he went but the prices were just too high - I doubt he really went since he has always been a tightwad (said with still much love). I picked this program up recently just as remembrance of the first SDCC, I probably didn't even vicariously attend. Oh but I do have a few copies of Avengers #93 now - not purchased at SDCC. So one day, if my health and funds permit, I will attend.
