  1. Monster of Frankenstein to the Monster of Madness
  2. But, but, they made a profitable movie about Birdman a few years ago.
  3. While I agree Bob Kane wasn't the most honorable and had a huge ego and probably deserved the Biatch-slap from Steranko, I wouldn't say Bill Finger was the real and true creator of Bats. Kane had the idea and initial sketches done before going to Finger, didn't he? Finger improved upon Kane's draft and had significant impact and creativity in development. Kane should have been honorable and tagged Finger in the creation byline or perhaps Finger should have demanded it. But at that, who knew how popular and lucrative the character/industry would become. Kane I assume had the business foresight to forever attach his name to the creation. Isn't this similar to the Lee/Kirby controversy of Lee being the idea-man and Kirby fleshing everything out?
  4. Monkey on "a back" to gorilla around "a brain"
  5. Golden words as I abhor the Blunder Boy. I would have accepted Robin on his own more so but Batman is a character that should operate in solitude but in the end I assume it boosted sales which is the goal for the publisher.
  6. Flame basting fire to Doc Strange shooting fire
  7. I doubt the brittleness alone would prevent slabbing as they grade books with brittle pages. The only way they would not slab it is if the encapsulation would damage the book in some way. Most notably, overhangs prevent slabbing in some cases and they return the book as it was sent with a note they were unable to slab because of the overhang. Brittle pages/cover does impact the grade a great deal but you have taken that into account already with the lower grade. There was a mid grade Phantom Stranger #3 that sold last night on EBay for $869. The first issue is the easiest to find but the other five issues are tougher and very desirable.
  8. A slabbed 1.8 ow-w pages sold for $405 in May of this year. The series is highly desirable for sure. What would give me pause is the mention of brittleness of the cover. Brittle/Slightly brittle are sometimes the kiss of death for GA collectors. Still if there is no restoration/conservation and want to preserve it, slab away.
  9. John Carter and Princess of Mars riding an alien mount to Captain Comet and the Girl from an Alien Planet atop an alien steed
  10. Statue of Liberty cover to Statue of Liberty cover recreation with some character twists
  11. Does anyone know of a comprehensive listing of GA creators and the pen names they used - such as Lou Fine, aka E. Lectron, Basil Berold etc., Will Eisner used many as did other artists and writers. I know there were several reasons such as hiding they were working for another publisher and working in comics was not respected by some. I can find information on an particular creator on sites like wiki and the Grand Comics Database but I was looking for a one page site with creators and their known pen names.
  12. Well at least they had costumes - a few times Phantasmo was nearly in the buff (not my books)
  13. Cool. If I stumble over any others, I will shoot you a PM.
  14. I think she's going to need a bigger knife. Great cover - no need for apologies -worth seeing again.
  15. Hep, Know this was a few weeks ago but if you are looking for the one you started in 2011 - it is Silver Age Forum, titled "Showcase your Harvey comics here!" - Here is the linkage https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/229793-showcase-your-harvey-comics-here/?page=10
  16. I forget the issue of Roy Thomas' Alter Ego but it had a great feature on Heath. AE and CBM for that matter always carried high quality information. Thx for posting the story.
  17. Methinks you lost your way twice with your double post on your way to the Silver Age forum.
  18. But, but, but - it's Buy the Label not the Book, no?
