  1. But how would that help? The issue isn't making sure the label aligns with the outer slab, it's making sure the label aligns with the comic. Yeah, this is why I think they haven't done anything to engineer a solution that at least helps them track potential tampering without needing books submitted for review in every case. They could etch the serial number into the cover of the comic. Or maybe brand the outer cover with a big hot branding iron. It would be just like Sig Series! Probably not too farfetched. After all there is CSV, which I think is an absurd waste.
  2. No kidding. I feel like a lightening rod for all types. Roy, the silver lining though is you get bumpage
  3. I thought Matt still did all the pressing but I'm not sure if that is still accurate. No...he doesn't do all the pressing and I doubt he even looks at QP books. I suspect there's a few employees that handle the bulk of the books and Matt handles the high $ books...like a certain Action 1 CGC 9.0 Yeah I guess that would be a look t of pressing for one person but it could e explain the slow turn around times
  4. I prefer "Chase" or "Trench". "Culvert" sounds like a name from the 1860's. Just not rugged or flashy enough. My 5th grade teacher was Mrs. Culvert, seriously. She was pretty old and I guess now so am I.

  6. GPA scrapes Heritage and eBay and also other sites like Comic Connect (selective) and also takes data from dealers who submit (like Greg Reece, NewForceComics and a few others). Where else, you'll have to ask George. GPA doesn't scrape anything - they have direct access to the eBay data through the eBay API, and receive all sales data direct from the various auction sites (Heritage, ComicConnect, Pedigree, Lone Star, etc). As you mention, they also receive sales info from a bunch of the large dealers. The main reason they don't include Comiclink data is because Comiclink wanted it to be selective - as far as I know, that's not the case for ComicConnect. There's a list of the sites that provide them with data on the GPA homepage: http://comics.gpanalysis.com/ Sorry about the 'scraping'. I'm not a techie. I believe they stopped accepting Pedigree data years ago because of Doug's reputation. I also believe they take or receive selective data from Comic Connect. That's just from a personal observation of mine seeing some sales appear and others not appear. It could very well be that those sales I was looking for were not completed though. Pedigreecomics is still on the list and GPA shows the books for sale/auction from the site so I assume they are getting data.
  7. Yeah, it is quite a bit cheaper but if the book is questionable/fragile at all, I certainly wouldn't recommend this option. The quickpress does come with dry cleaning inlcuded in the price, I believe, which is a plus if that could help.
  8. I believe also that with the quick press, CCS does not screen to ensure a book is a good candidate for pressing. Like Brock said above, they take the book, no inspection and iron it which could lead to damage, e.g., popped staples on books that may be tenuous to press. You assume the responsibility. This is from their website - "CCS does not offer its Screening service for QuickPress. As a result, please take care not to submit books with low page quality or weak staple areas."
  9. I have heard different stories - was the mask/pinup ever attached or just inserted? I have a copy that was graded as a GLOD 9.4 although I have the unused mask/pinup but was told by CGC not to send it in as it was loose. Always been curious as to whether it was published with them attached and if so, how were they attached?
  10. I know I have said this before but I am still amazed at how many different genres Cole drew. Was there any genre he didn't draw? Just so prolific and so amazingly talented.
